Tightened for room, checked and lost ground near the 800m when FLAMING ASTEROID was taken in by SHEER SUCCESS. Upon returning to scale Jockey J Stanley advised that his mount failed to respond when placed under pressure from the 700 metres and in his opinion was inclined to hang in throughout and proved disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
