Bounded on jumping. Rdr reported he was instructed to ride mnt in a forward position and, after beginning awkwardly, had to make some use of it to obtain a leading position near the 700m. He added mnt travelled comfortably thereafter and, when placed under pressure near the 400m, it failed to respond to his riding and weakened noticeably, and in his opinion it may have choked down. A post-race vet exam did not reveal any abnormalities. Tnr confirmed rdr's comments that he would experiment with the use of a tongue tie for its next race start.

When questioned regarding racing wide throughout and the tactics adopted, jockey B Newport advised he was hopeful of obtaining cover in the initial stages, however once VOLDERMORT commenced to over race in the early stages he was unable to restrain to a degree that allowed him to obtain a position closer to the inside running rail. Mr Newport also added that due to other runners progressing forward to his inside this also made his attempts to obtain a more desirable position even more difficult.
