Star Cugat Raced wide throughout. Apprentice T. Brooker reported that whilst she was forced to race wide throughout, she was nevertheless disappointed in the filly’s effort in finishing the race off, and eased her mount over the concluding stages. Trainer reported that the filly had returned to scale with blood in its mouth and had dislodged 2 teeth, and would advise stewards of any further abnormalities that may come to light. Dominant Crown When questioned regarding today’s performance, jockey D. Browne stated that the gelding never travelled comfortably and despite his urgings was unable to make up ground in the home straight. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Sunshine Coast 12/04/2017
Tiz Began awkwardly. Shifted in under pressure leaving the 200m. Gold Coast 08/04/2017
Big Vega Tightened for room at the start. Overraced in the early and middle stages and had to be restrained from heels near the 500m Sunshine Coast 16/12/2016
Lucky's Lil Girl Severely tightened for room at start and lost ground. Raced wide throughout. Rider reported after suffering interference at start was obliged to settle further back than anticipated. Added as a result was then obliged to pressure mount to maintain a position at rear of the field. Further added forced to race extremely wide rounding the home turn and given this she was not overly disappointed in the performance. Vetted - no abnormalities. Ipswich 07/04/2017

Kiss Me Clang J. Morris reported that the horse was under pressure from the 700m and he was forced to apply the whip before the home turn and the horse failed to respond. He added that despite this, from approaching the 200m the horse did improve into the race and was doing its best work over the concluding stages. He indicated that the horse would appreciate racing over more ground when not obliged to be pressured early in the event. Sunshine Coast 26/03/2017

Clever Blaze Hampered at the start. Near 700m tightened for room by GOOD CATCH, which shifted in and had to be severely checked and in doing so made contact with the running rail and lost significant ground. Vetted - no abnormalities. Gold Coast 08/04/2017

Nautilus The veterinary surgeon reported that the horse made an abnormal respiratory noise post-race. Trainer P. Duncan was advised that the horse will require a veterinary clearance, including the results of an endoscopic examination, prior to being permitted to race again. Ipswich 04/04/2017

Dave's Valor Trainer S. Lawlor was questioned regarding the seemingly improved performance of the horse today as compared to its last start at Murwillumbah on 16 December. Miss Lawlor explained that DAVE’S VALOUR was not suited when it was unable to lead in that race and does not race well when racing inside of horses in the home straight. She added that the filly had always raced well when able to lead and dictate the tempo of the race. A post race veterinary examination revealed a laceration to the off foreleg and a laceration to the near fore fetlock and off fore pastern. Miss Lawlor indicated that Eagle Farm 28/12/2016

Hell of a Quest Became fractious and was cast in the barriers. The horse underwent a veterinary inspection and was cleared to start.
