As the filly had trialled recently at the Sunshine Coast with that gear, permission was granted for MULTICHOICE to race with that gear and he was subsequently fined the sum of $200.

Stewards asked M. Hellyer to comment on the horse’s performance. He indicated that as the horse had a tendency to hang, he was mindful of this in the running. The horse did lay out somewhat rounding the home turn and when attempting to secure clear running in the home straight, he looked to improve to the inside of BAR FLY BARRISTER, however when that horse shifted back towards the fence he elected to shift out approaching the 200m and was then also obliged to shift out further to obtain clear running outside THE COLUMBIAN. He added that the horse was doing its best work over the final stages.

Following this, ADERITO shifted out and raced three wide without cover whilst continuing to overrace.

When weakening in the home straight became awkward after being struck with the whip near the 250m and shifted out. The horse again became unbalanced approaching the 100m when struck with the whip and over the concluding stages appeared to shy and shift out. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainer L. Ross was advised that a warning would be placed on the filly’s racing manners.

Tarrant regarding the positioning of the horse which raced in a more forward position. He indicated it had not been his intention to be in the forward half of the field however after beginning well he elected to pressure his mount out of the barriers in order to take advantage of this. Given the slow tempo he elected to allow MOONLIGHT DANCER to improve into race but was continually taken wider on the track as WALK TO THE BAR continued to improve on his inside. As a consequence was obliged to race very wide rounding home turn which had detrimental effect on the performance.
