COT: If begins well, intention to lead: Settled on pace. Was fractious in the barriers. When qst re riding in the early & mid stages, rdr std instructions to be fwd if possible. Std after a slow start tried to hold an inside pos & after 100m attempted to ease but mnt continued racing keenly. Std near 1000m struck the running rail & became unbalanced. Continued to race keen so obtained cover near 700m. Added due to racing manners gave ground under pressure in the straight & weakened from 150m. Post race vet exam rev the gelding to have a laceration to the off-hind cannon.

Slow to begin. Near the 100m was obliged to shift inwards to obtain clear running. When asked to comment rider W Peel stated the horse settled further back in the field than anticipated, adding that BULLION BOY never travelled comfortably throughout the race and was inclined to race greenly at various stages of the event. Ms Peel added the horse may not have been suited by today's track conditions, and that BULLION BOY may be better suited in races over a longer distance than that of today. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

When quest rdr stated he was inst to settle fwd with cover. Rdr stated he rode mount along in early stages & when no other rider was showing a clear intent to lead he elected to allow mount to work forward & hold lead, one off the fence, rather than ease back & risk being carried in onto inferior going on fence. Rdr mount travelled keenly in middle stages & failed to let down strongly on heavy track conditions down straight. Rdr added mount was particularly worked up prior to event. P/R vet exam revealed slow recovery & mild symptoms of tying up.

Std mnt bumped shortly after entering straight when trying to shift out, & was held up until 150m whereby was able to test it, but near 50m was again inconvenienced.
