Smith regarding his mount shifting wider when rounding the home turn which availed a run to his inside for TRIBECA STAR. Jockey Smith stated that prior to the race, he had walked the course and on viewing earlier races had formed the opinion that the preferred ground entering the straight was 4-5 horses away from the rail, and that whilst it was his intention to ease the filly onto that course, he also added that it was inclined to lay out sooner than expected. Jockey M Powell advised stewards that he had anticipated racing in a more forward position however the gelding failed to muster sufficient speed at the start which resulted in him settling further back in the field.
