When held up for clear running making the home turn, Wicked Chance was steadied off the heels of the leader Flaming Homor which commenced to hang out. Wicked Chance shifted out abruptly and made heavy contact on two occasions with Fodor. Jockey J Murphy became momentarily unbalanced in the saddle because of the heavy contact. At the 200 metres Wicked Chance had to be steadied around heels to obtain clear running.

Jockey S Sheargold’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 days to commence midnight 29 January 2022 and expire midnight 6 February 2022 (8 days). In assessing penalty, Stewards considered Jockey Sheargold’s good riding record in relation to the rule.
