Trainer T Smith was fined $100 for the late declaration of blinkers and a tongue tie under AR206(1). Trainer T Smith was also reprimanded for failing to lodge a stable return to indicate the racing colours of the filly under AR103(4)(c)(l). Slow to begin and failed to muster speed as a result.

Questioned regarding performance, jockey stated her mount travelled well throughout, however when asked for an effort failed to respond to her riding and proved disappointing. Trainer stated that DEAL pleased in its work and could offer no explanation for the performance but would report back in the days subsequent. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a poor post recovery. Trainer advised that DEAL would be required to trial and a vet cert required prior to its next start. Tnr since reported DEAL potentially showing signs of folic acid deficiency as well as excessive allergy activity.

When questioned regarding CENTAUR leading in today’s event, jockey A Butler stated his instructions were to lead if possible and after jumping with the field, was able to take up a forward position with ease. Trainer A Clark concurred with the instructions given to A Butler and further added that in previous starts, intentions were to be more forward, but circumstances forced CENTAUR to race further back than intended. He further added that CENTAUR had raced closer to the speed this preparation and would still intend on implementing that racing pattern for future starts.
