When questioned as to the seemingly disappointing performance Jockey advised that in his opinion, although disappointing, the gelding had not been as well suited by today’s firmer track conditions as opposed the soft track conditions at Innisfail when successful at its previous start. A post race veterinary examination found no abnormalities.

On returning to scale Jockey explained that after being slow to begin she elected to restrain her mount in an attempt to take up a position closer to the running rail, in contrast to its established racing pattern.

When questioned regarding the poor performance Jockey stated that his mount never travelled at any stage of the race, despite his vigorous urgings, and was most disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. A swab sample was taken. Trainer said that the gelding will now be spelled.
