Irish Spy when questioned, rider D. Northey stated his mount began well however when it obtained cover it commenced to drop the bit and failed to travel at any stage of the event. He added Irish Spy felt somewhat flat within itself today and was most disappointing; a post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be displaying a poor post-race recovery. Ready Seq Go Brushed the running rail when racing keenly near the 1100m. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn. Toowoomba 01/10/2016
Red Hot Secret Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure over the final 100m. Toowoomba 15/10/2016

Scenic Road When questioned regarding the disappointing performance, jockey L. Attard reported that he thought the gelding may have choked down and might benefit from the addition of a tongue tie. Trainer T. Sears advised Stewards in his opinion the gelding races better when able to settle in a more rearward position than in today’s event. Stanthorpe 15/10/2016

Rebel Rover Overraced in the early and middle stages. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Brushed the running rail at the 200m and passing the winning post. Apprentice J. Woodhouse reported at scale that the gelding overraced in the early stages which he attributed to the horse racing in a forward position in today’s event. He added that at the horse’s previous start at Warwick the gelding began poorly and he was able to obtain a position with cover.
