KYLIE ZABEL

Queensland Off-The-Track proudly introduces Kylie Zabel as a QOTT Acknowledged Retrainer.

An experienced rider with three decades of experience in the saddle, Kylie has competed in almost every equestrian discipline and is now a successful competitor on the Queensland showjumping circuit. Kylie won the Queensland Amateur Showjumper of the Year in 2018 and 2019 and placed third in the Australian OTT Showjumping Championships in 2019 on retired racehorse Dusty Girl, a versatile thoroughbred who Kylie also competes in campdrafting competitions.

Representing Queensland at a State and National level in Sporting and Campdrafting for over 15 years, Kylie’s biggest achievements have been on the international stage, competing overseas as a member of the Australian Mounted Games team in England, New Zealand and Sweden on borrowed horses.

“I absolutely love retraining horses, especially off the track thoroughbreds. Off the track thoroughbreds have such huge hearts and they deserve the chance to have a good life after racing. They aim to please and are athletic, smart and can excel in any discipline. The horses I rehome receive a lot of foundation work and most will have at some point been used as a school horse and had the experience of other riders and different levels of riding. I always make sure I have given them several outings so their new owners don't need to be worried about them when they go to competitions themselves. They usually will also have some showjumping training but most importantly, they will be well rounded horses ready to go on with their new owners in any direction and discipline they choose.”

Kylie is an NCAS Level One Instructor and Mounted Games Specialist, who enjoys teaching all level of horses and riders. Kylie prides herself on helping riders to achieve their personal goals with their horse in a fun, low-stress and pressure free environment.

Founder of Flinton Park Equestrian, a business that offers a riding school, private coaching, horse holiday camps, breaking-in and retraining services, Kylie has an aptitude for retraining retired racehorses and providing them with strong foundations to thrive in their lives post-racing.
