Queensland Off-The-Track proudly introduces Tanya Schmidt as a QOTT Acknowledged Retrainer.
With a keen interest in preparing racehorses on the track as a Licensed Thoroughbred Trainer and Trackwork Rider, Tanya’s passion for thoroughbreds extends well beyond their careers on the racetrack, having trained hundreds of off the track thoroughbreds to compete at the highest levels of eventing in Australia.
Acquiring her first off the track thoroughbred as a young child, it is no surprise that Tanya, who is now a full-time professional rider, is passionate about assisting retired racehorses transition to their lives after racing. A member of the Queensland Elite Eventing Squad since 2016, Tanya is a 5* event rider who has competed and won at every level of eventing from Pre-Intro to 4*, enjoying success at a State and National level at some of Australia’s most prestigious eventing competitions.
“I have been retraining off the track horses since I was six years old and I have been part of the Thoroughbred racing industry for a long time. I have a great interest in preparing racehorses for life after racing and my aim has always been to retrain these horses to be suitable for as many different levels of riders as possible.”
An experienced retrainer, Tanya has tremendous respect for off the track thoroughbreds and believes that when a horse is treated with understanding and proper management of its individual needs, there is no limit to their success in their lives off the track.
