Queensland Off-The-Track proudly introduces Danielle Hess as a QOTT Acknowledged Retrainer.
Teaming up with an OTT thoroughbred as her first horse as a teenager, Dani has gone on to produce thoroughbreds as her main partners throughout her competition career, having great success in the equestrian disciplines of eventing, dressage and showjumping.
Prior to becoming a full-time professional rider, Dani worked for the Education Department at Racing Queensland. She then went on to pursue her dream to ride and coach as a profession. Her background in professional breeding and performance horse stables, along with her time spent as head coach in riding schools, provided her with the necessary understanding of how to train OTT horses for performance pursuits. This led to the creation of Bunya Springs Equestrian.
At Bunya Springs Equestrian, Dani and her partner James Ferrier provide horse training and coaching services in all three eventing disciplines. Dani currently has an extensive team of self-produced eventing horses, owned by herself and clients. Her experience and insight within the industry has provided her with the skills to retrain and rehome retired racehorses, many of which have gone on to successful careers with amateur and junior riders.
Dani prides herself on taking very seriously the responsibility for the education of retired racehorses and ensuring their transition from racing to equestrian pursuits is successful. The facilities at Bunya Springs Equestrian have been built to give OTT horses a great start from the moment they arrive.
“After working with horses as my full-time profession for seven years now, I have ridden various breeds, however, my heart is always drawn back to Thoroughbreds. They’re so incredibly willing, and once they understand the question being asked, they always give 110% in trying to get the answer right.”
