JODI THOMAS
Queensland Off-The-Track proudly introduces Jodi Thomas as a QOTT Acknowledged Retrainer.
Jodi Thomas joins us with extensive experience in both the racing and equestrian industries. On the equestrian front, Jodi has been riding for nearly 40 years, competing in showjumping and eventing. She acquired her first off the track horse when she was just 10 years old and is a long term advocate for retired racehorses.
Jodi’s career in racing kicked off in 2006 when she worked as a track work rider and strapper in Victoria. In 2011 she commenced work as Foreman at Booralite Park, where she also did the breaking in of young horses. A move to Queensland in 2014 found Jodi continue her work in the racing industry, prior to founding her own business, Charlim Park Equine and Livestock Services in 2016.
Charlim Park is based on a 20 acre property adjacent to state forest, so Jodi can ride out in the bush as well as school horses in the 30x65m arena and round yard. In addition to retraining retired racehorses, services Jodi provides include breaking and pre-training, equine therapy and retraining of problem horses.
“I really love working with racehorses. I enjoy retraining them and getting them out to events or out on trail rides to further their education. I have the perfect property and years of knowledge and experience to help them learn and take on new careers.”
