Queensland Off-The-Track proudly introduces Jarrod Price as a QOTT Acknowledged Retrainer.
Jarrod Price joins the QOTT Acknowledged Retrainer team bringing with him a wealth of knowledge and experience built over many years of working with horses. Growing up, Jarrod had the pleasure of learning horsemanship from a young age, starting and training horses on stations for mustering since his teenage years. Later in life, Jarrod was able to expand his work with retired racehorses when his wife became a licensed thoroughbred race trainer. He began starting, prepping and then retraining the retired racehorses, which provided Jarrod with a thorough understanding of all aspects of a racehorse’s life.
Jarrod has a well-versed skill set allowing him to get the best out of his horses. He utilises a thorough training program to allow each horse to excel individually and ensure they receive exposure to situations they will encounter during their post racing career. Jarrod has a focus on retraining horses for a life of pleasure riding, stock work and cowboy dressage, however, strongly believes retired racehorses can be retrained for almost any discipline.
“I believe almost all retired racehorses are capable of being retrained and educated to pursue a different discipline once their racing career is over. It is a rewarding challenge when you get to give a horse a second chance in life.”
Jarrod lives on 60 hectares of land in Koumala, located in the Mackay region. With lots of space and large paddocks to allow horses to let-down after life in the racing environment, Jarrod also enjoys taking his horses to the nearby beach for exercise and exposure to a new environment. Committed to ensuring horses are placed in the best homes, Jarrod is thorough in his assessment of potential new owners, prior to rehoming.
