KELLY GORDON
Queensland Off-The-Track proudly introduces Kelly Gordon as a QOTT Acknowledged Retrainer.
Kelly joins the QOTT Acknowledged Retrainer team with a wealth of knowledge and experience with thoroughbreds gained throughout her own personal riding career and also while working within the thoroughbred racing industry. Kelly has been riding since the age of 3, having been lucky enough to own her first thoroughbred at age 11. Kelly began working within the racing industry whilst still attending school and she has also enjoyed many successful years competing in various equestrian sports including showjumping, dressage and eventing.
Kelly’s knowledge of how to successfully retrain thoroughbreds stemmed from her early working years as a young rider. From working with breakers as a pretrainer to riding trackwork, Kelly understands the racing life of a thoroughbred, which greatly assists her when transitioning retired racehorses into second careers.
Kelly enjoys working with the racing industry and incorporates her passion for thoroughbreds into her retraining, ensuring each horse has a personalised retraining plan to best suit their ability and transition goals. Kelly has developed a real soft spot for thoroughbreds, having kept three of her own.
Whilst currently working as an equine veterinary nurse, Kelly also owns and operates an equine rehabilitation business ‘Valley View Equine Rehabilitation’, where she utilises her experience of working in a veterinary environment to help rehabilitate injured horses.
“I have a soft spot for thoroughbreds. They are such talented and versatile horses that deserve to have someone love and enjoy them after their racing efforts. Helping horses find loving homes is an amazing feeling”.
Based in Lower Wonga in the Gympie region, Kelly has access to equestrian facilities including a sand arena, round yard, stables, hospital yards, a mix of spelling paddocks and local trails that see her completely equipped to retrain horses and assist in injury rehabilitation while working closely with veterinarians.
