MARRISSA JONES
Queensland Off-The-Track proudly introduces Marrissa Jones as a QOTT Acknowledged Retrainer.
Marrissa is an accomplished horse woman with a lifetime of equestrian experience. She began her journey at a very young age, starting with an unhandled brumby and soon learning to ride on her parents’ retired standardbred horses. Her career progressed with years of work in the racing industry, gaining comprehensive experience with racehorses at every stage of their careers, from yearling preparation to breaking and training, and ultimately owning and training her own standardbred racehorse, who was successful on the track.
Her extensive background in the racing industry has provided her invaluable insight into retraining racehorses and transitioning them into successful post-racing careers.
In 2015, Marrissa founded her own equestrian business, now known as ‘Summit Equine’. The business offers a broad range of services, including horse training, management, re-education, behavioural assessments, injury rehabilitation and agistment services.
Marrissa’s training philosophy emphasises building confidence in horses as they transition into new environments. She works from the ground up, focusing on foundational dressage principles to address any potential education gaps. While she has a strong passion for dressage, Marrissa takes an individualised approach to assess each horse’s suitability across various disciplines, ensuring they are best placed in the best possible post-racing career.

Based in Jimboomba, Marrissa operates ‘Summit Equine’ from her 10 acre property, which offers easy access to local trail networks and is a short drive from many local riding clubs.
