Queensland Off-The-Track proudly introduces Rikkie Morton as a QOTT Acknowledged Retrainer.
Coming from a family with a long line of experienced horsemen and women, it’s no surprise Rik’s passion for all things horses developed from a young age. Growing up around experienced horse people, Rik was able to learn from those around him, taking every opportunity available to ride, train and develop his horsemanship.
In 2022 Rik purchased his current property, which allowed him to purchase his own young horses and start developing his own training programs. Learning and adapting from mentors across the equine world Rik has established his own methods that focus on building a foundation of trust with his equine partners. MCE Equine, Riks equine business, was born through commitment, hard work and Rik’s passion for training horses. MCE Equine now operates as a starting/training facility for all horses, including off the track thoroughbreds and standardbreds.
Rik has successfully retrained many off the track horses using his process of foundation training, which is much the same process that he we would use starting any young horse. His philosophy focuses around building positive partnerships and trust between horse and human on the ground, prior to commencing retraining under saddle. Rik has a genuine passion for assisting horses find the right homes with the right people.

Located in the Lockyer Valley region of South East Queensland, MCE Equine is based at a 125-acre property which allows Rik access to onsite training facilities and an abundance of trails, which he frequently utilises when training off the track horses.
