Under RQ’s proposal, the State Training Academy would deliver an enhanced training and racing facility including new and improved amenities for its Registered Training Organisation. Importantly, the master planning process will also explore ways that could open up the Deagon Racecourse to the public and provide enhanced amenity to the community through a variety of uses. As part of the master planning process, community engagement is pivotal to our plans, with Deagon Racecourse synonymous with the Sandgate region. Racing Queensland will continue to work with the local community to gather ideas on what they would like to see as part of Deagon Racecourse.
On the March 10, 2023, Brisbane City Council adopted the amended Sandgate District Neighbourhood Plan.
The amendments apply to the suburbs of Sandgate, Deagon, Shorncliffe and Brighton and can be viewed here.
