RACE ONE SPIRIT WALKER (3) sat in the running line last start over the 2647m and ran home well to claim the bronze behind the smart mare NEEDLE. That followed a 2m 3rd over 2138m when grabbed late by LAVROS TEXAS. Back to the front line suits and with her good manners can look to take control. ASTRAL RULER (2) has won 2 of his past 4 and made errors in the other 2 that have cost him all chance. A winner off a 50m impost here 2 back he ran home strongly to claim the win. From the front tape he should find good position and if trotting cleanly can feature. LAVROS SEGIL (9) is a great beginner from the tapes and last start was quickly away from the 30m and working forward and fought hard for a tidy win. That was reward for close up placings in 3 of his previous 4 and can feature in this. MISTER OZ (11) returns from a spell and will make his Qld debut after arriving from Vic. A winner 4 starts back under Monte conditions, he has not trialled and should take good benefit from the run. SELECTIONS: SPIRIT WALKER (3), ASTRAL RULER (2), LAVROS SEGIL (9), MISTER OZ (11) SUGGESTED BET: SPIRIT WALKER (3) to win
RACE TWO
KEY LARGO (1) will strip fitter after his first up run last week when running to the front over the mile and gripping on for a narrow victory. Brilliant out of the gate, he will have no worries holding the front here, the distance is the query. If left alone in front he can go all the way, the pressure will be the key. OUR MAJOR DAY (7) rolled forward to find position from gate 4 last start and loomed up to hit the front only to be nabbed right on the line by BUCKHORN EXCHANGE. A strong all the way winner 3 starts back, he can forward here and apply some heat, he might just be the stronger. JUST SAY GO (2) settled back in the pack from the 2nd line last week and found the line nicely to get within 4m of KEY LARGO. He went too hard in the early stages on Sat night when fading out and with a soft trip here can look for the last shot. MISS KENNY (4) made her Qld debut a winning one when scoring in a mares qualifier over the mile when hitting the line strongly from well back. She can settle in the running line and be working home strongly once again. SELECTIONS: KEY LARGO (1), OUR MAJOR DAY (7), JUST SAY GO (2), MISS KENNY (4) SUGGESTED BET:
RACE THREE
OUR BUSCEMI (5) was a strong Redcliffe winner 4 starts back and followed that with a luckless run in a claimers series heat when buried away and never getting a shot. He took on a Rising Stars heat at his next start when buried on the pegs. He looks well suited here and can get forward early. ZALTA (1) has started from the 2nd line much more regularly than he has seen the front and gets his first look at the ace gate in a long time. He worked home well last start at Redcliffe and with the improved gate will have the early options and gets every chance in this line-up. COTTON COLD CANDY (6) scored a strong win in a mares qualifier 5 starts back when sent forward from this same alley to find the front and once in control was never in danger. Her run last start behind PARISIAN ROCKSTAR had merit and she is right in the mix. READILY (2) found the line in good order last start in a 2nd division qualifier when under 10m from the winner MONIVAE. From the gate he can look to settle in a handy position and has exotic claims. SELECTIONS: OUR BUSCEMI (5), ZALTA (1), COTTON COLD CANDY (6), READILY (2) SUGGESTED BET: OUR BUSCEMI (5) to win
RACE FOUR COREY WILLIAM (4) will take good benefit from his start last week when first up from a freshen. Starting from the 2nd line there was nothing from back in the pack making any ground. His run in the Marburg Goldstrike Final 2 starts back was a top effort and with good early speed he can take this. GOT THE GOODS (3) made the most of the ace gate last start and once in control was never in danger to hold on for victory over DARBY BRIGHTS. Kept on the fresh side for this assignment he can look to take a shot early and if holding the front can control this and take some catching. COME OUT AND PLAY (1) worked hard in the run last start at Redcliffe when facing he breeze and fought hard considering that was his 1st time having to work the breeze in his career. Back to the cosy trip from the gate here, look for him to fill the exotics. HERES MY NUMBER (5) returned from a break with a 1st up 3rd at Redcliffe when hitting the line in good order. Too far back from gate 6 at his next start, forget his latest run when making an error. He has podium hopes here.
SELECTIONS: COREY WILLIAM (4), GOT THE GOODS (3), COME OUT AND PLAY (1), HERES MY NUMBER (5) SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 1-3-4-5
RACE FIVE
LIKEALLOFUS (1) looked to take them all the way 2 starts back and after burning hard in the early stages was grabbed near the post to finish a 2m 2nd. From this same gate on Sta night he held the front at short odds and held on for a narrow victory. He steps up to the 2138m here but that doesn’t look to be an issue and he can go all the way. POMPIDOU (4) will be further tightened from his latest start wen 2nd up from a break. Taken back from gate 6 he was working home in good order for the silver behind A GOOD CHANCE. From this gate he can get forward and apply the pressure and will be right in the fight. BUNDABURRA (6) will be first up off a freshen since returning from a NSW trip that didn’t really heat up. With tractability issues in 2 of his outings, the final run was a tidy effort behind the smart mare ANGE IN WHITE. He can issue a big challenge. LANCELOT BROMAC (2) took the pocket trail from gate 1 on Sat night and was right in behind them when only 4m from the winner. Starting fav at each of his past 2 starts, he can look to find the podium here. SELECTIONS: LIKEALLOFUS (1), POMPIDOU (4), BUNDABURRA (6), LANCELOT BROMAC (2) SUGGESTED BET: LIKEALLOFUS (1) to win
RACE SIX THE SPACE INVADER (1) has some ordinary numbers next to his name but his runs have been better than the results returned after starting from wide gates and taking on some tough races. His latest run on Sat night was a tidy effort from gate 7 when getting back and charging home late. He gets his chance to cash-in here. ROYAL COUNSEL (8) had been battling some tough gates and made the most of an improved gate on Sat night and took the all the way and running home a sharp closing 800m. She will enjoy a cosy trip here and when the gaps open can look to issue a challenge. MAFUTA VAUTIN (5) was a shade disappointing on Sat night, but did look to make his move when the leader put down on a sub 27 3rd panel. His run 2 back was a good effort when 3rd to MARKEY OH MARKEY and he can bounce back in a race like this. MAJESTIC MAJOR (7) faded off last week in the stand start race after doing his share of work mid-race to make up ground to get to the breeze. A good winner 3 starts back over the 2138m, the gate hurts but he can’t be discounted.
SELECTIONS: THE SPACE INVADER (1), ROYAL COUNSEL (8), MAFUTA VAUTIN (5), MAJESTIC MAJOR (7) SUGGESTED BET: THE SPACE INVADER (1) to win
RACE SEVEN
BULL MARKET (4) will be fresh after his last start 3rd when sent forward from gate 5 to find position and then working home wide off the track to hold 3rd in smart time. His run in claiming company 3 starts back was a real eye-catcher after losing a stack of ground and getting within 7m of the winner. This looks his. RORY MACH (1) should enjoy a cosy trip on the pegs and can look to take his shot when the gaps arrive. 2 starts back he was swooping late down the centre of the track to get within a half-head of the winner and n Sat night was luckless when probing for a gap that never opened. Just needs an opening. MAX RICHTER (9) couldn’t find position last start from gate 7 and was trapped wide before going back and then working home strongly. That followed successive placings through a claiming challenge series. He is a threat in this type of claimer. EXCEPTIONAL MACH (7) has the wide gate to overcome and lines up for Hayden Barnes for the first time. A passing lane winner 2 starts back he found the line nicely last start. If the tempo is storng he can work home late. SELECTIONS: BULL MARKET (4), RORY MACH (1), MAX RICHTER (9), EXCEPTIONAL MACH (7) SUGGESTED BET: BULL MARKET (4) to win
RACE EIGHT ARGYLE BEACH (2) settled back in the pack off gate 12 last week was too far back to issue a challenge. Her last 75m she really attacked the line. Her run 2 starts back saw her hitting the line hard for a strong win. She moves to the front line for the 1st time since arriving in Aus so her early speed will be a query, but she can be too strong. THE HARLEM HAMMER (1) scored a qualifying win on Sat night when sprinting the line hard once angled into open space. She was run down 2 starts back when trying to lead throughout and from the gate will have options and is the threat. NONE BETTOR (9) was working hard in the breeze last start and looked to loom up to the leader KEY LARGO to put him away but couldn’t land the knockout blow. He can look to follow through early to find position and will be right in the fight again. JANUARY (3) was resuming from a break last start and did some early work when finishing 9m from the winner MAJORDOIT. Fitter from that run she can settle handy here and is in the mix.
SELECTIONS: ARGYLE BEACH (2), THE HARLEM HAMMER (1), NONE BETTOR (9), JANUARY (3) SUGGESTED BET: ARGYLE BEACH (2) to win
