The Capalaba Greyhound Racing Club’s kennel block has been damaged as the result of a fire overnight.
Club officials arrived this morning to find damage to walls and large amounts of black ash throughout the building.
The club and Racing Queensland have contacted insurers. Investigations into how the fire started are ongoing, although there is no evidence to suggest the fire was deliberately lit.
The damage caused by the smoke and ash will require significant remediation and, unfortunately, the club will be unable to conduct this Saturday’s (June 9) meeting.
The Capalaba Grand Prix scheduled for Saturday will be run at the next available Capalaba meeting.
A decision on the meeting scheduled for Saturday 16 June will be made by mid-next week.
Trials scheduled for Sunday 11 June and Wednesday 13 June have also been cancelled.
