Fifteen of the 16 spots available in the highly anticipated $100,000 Battle of the Bush Final have now been filled – so who will be the lucky last to qualify at Barcaldine this weekend?
The series has made headlines across the state since it launched on Anzac Day at Cunnamulla, where series ambassador Peter Moody attended.
The series then moved far and wide across Queensland, with each town to host a qualifier getting behind the series in droves.
Racing Queensland Non TAB Racing Manager Col Truscott said so-far there had been 14 individual winners, with Man Around Town winning both qualifiers at Gordonvale and Atherton.
“This has allowed the second place-getter at Atherton - Big Tomee - to force its way into the final field,” he said.
“The second place-getter to Man Around Town at Gordonvale has since won a qualifier at Bowen, and had already gained ballot exemption for the final.”
Connections desperate to get one last crack at making the $100,000 final can do so at Barcaldine this Saturday in the 1200m Open Handicap.
Final acceptances are to be declared to Racing Australia by 10am on Wednesday 13 June 2018.
