By The Numbers: QLD Greyhound Prize Money Increase

Racing Queensland has revealed how prize money increases for greyhounds will be distributed to industry, following the announcement of a $3.5 million stakes increase on Tuesday.

Highlights

General prize money will increase by $2 million, including;  

• $1000 increase for all Class 1 events
• $500 increase for all lower-class races over longer distances
• $250 increase for all lower-class races over shorter distances
• $100 increase for Non-TAB races
• Prizemoney for finals increased from Graded to Open
• Increased prize money for Ipswich/Townsville/Rockhampton/Capalaba Cup heats

Unplaced prizemoney of $750,000 has been introduced with the introduction of prize money for fourth-place.

Feature prizemoney will rise by $350,000 with increase on the following races:

• $40,000 for the Brisbane Cup ($150,000)
• $40,000 for the Gold Cup ($150,000)
• $50,000 for the Origin Greyhound Series
• $30,000 for the Capalaba Cup ($37,500)
• $25,000 for Masters Series (new event)
• $22,500 for the Flying Amy ($60,000)
• $22,500 for the Queensland Cup ($60,000)
• $20,000 for ‘Straight of Origin’
• $100,000 Queensland-bred Series (to be run at all tracks)

Appearance Fees have also been boosted by $400,000 to ensure appearance fees rise to $50 per-runner.
