RACE TWO
SIR JULIAN (8) started from gate 4 here 2 starts back and was closing out strongly when claiming the silver behind the smart ARGYLE BEACH. Locked away on the pegs last start when looking for gaps he was only 9m from the winner SLICE OF HEAVEN. Following a smart beginner, with the right run he can make the closing shot a winning one. FRANCO TARIQ (5) changes back to the Donny Smith yard after having just 1 start in the Darrel Graham barn. That run was in the Tamworth Cup where he was finding the line in good order from wide out from the 2nd line. A winner 2 starts back when swooping hard, he is a threat in this. WHISKEY BLAZE (9) claimed a mid-week victory after using the passing lane to arrive right on the wire to defeat TOM ME GUN. In consistent touch, he can get a cosy trip again and close out hard. WEEDONS EXPRESS (1) made the most of his chances here last week when set alight from gate 6 to find the pegs he was able to stave off the challengers in taking them all the way. He will give plenty of cheek if able to pinch a panel in front. SELECTIONS: SIR JULIAN (8), FRANCO TARIQ (5), WHISKEY BLAZE (9), WEEDONS EXPRESS (1) SUGGESTED BET: SIR JULIAN (8) to win
RACE THREE
OCEANS PREDATOR (8) will be sweating on the 1 looking to take them all the way and if that scenario eventuates, he will be coiled and ready to strike when the gaps arrive. He found the line in good order to grab the bronze last start in a similar race and with the right luck can claim this. ITSADANCEOFF (1) will take some benefit from his latest start when resuming from a break. Taken to the pegs and looking for luck last start he was never in the hunt. Below his best in his first 2 runs since arriving from NSW, he lands the gate to take advantage here and turn his fortunes around. ZALTA (11) has no favours from this alley but should find this no harder than recent starts where he hasn’t seen the best of luck in the run. With some factors in his favour he can be sharper in this. OLIVER WINKLE (2) did some early work here last tie out in a much stronger contest and the effort took its toll when he faded late. Settling handy from the gate he can be thereabouts in this. SELECTIONS: OCEANS PREDATOR (8), ITSADANCEOFF (1), ZALTA (11), OLIVER WINKLE (2) SUGGESTED BET: OCEANS PREDATOR (8) to win
RACE FOUR RIVERLEIGH ROCKET (1) has ordinary numbers next to his name and has chalked up 12 months now since he was last successful. That said in 4 runs back this preparation he has faced 2nd line gates in 3 of those which don’t suit his style. With the speed to lead he gets every chance to dictate and fight them off. KURAHAUPO GAMBLER (8) hasn’t been far away in recent starts and been hitting the line in good order in each. He closed out well here 3 starts back to grab the bronze and last week may have been closer with a cleaner passage. He will be coiled behind the speed here ready to take the snipers shot. CIRCLE LINE (3) took on a tough race here on Tues from the 2nd line and was facing a task with SPIKE BROMAC setting a strong mile in front. His run here 3 back was a nice effort and he can feature. ARBIT MAJOR (5) was angled to the pegs last start from gate 10 to look for short-cuts and worked home in good order. 3rd from gate 7 when hitting the line well here 2 starts back he can be thereabouts.
SELECTIONS: RIVERLEIGH ROCKET (1), KURAHAUPO GAMBLER (8), CIRCLE LINE (3), ARBIT MAJOR (5) SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 1-3-5-8
RACE FIVE
JOSSIE JAMES (12) has proven costly to her supporters in recent starts, however with her racing pattern she does need favours to go her way in the run. Too far back last start when starting her charge, she didn’t warm up and that followed a tidy effort from gate 7. Looking for a solid tempo this looks her chance to cash-in. PAY ME INTEREST (6) us racing in great touch and last start was hitting the line strongly in the closing stages when 3m from TRILIGHT BRIGADE. Only grabbed in the closing stages to be 2m from FAME ASSURED the start prior, she will be right in the fight here. CHARLYSE (10) was snagged back from gate 7 to go luck hunting along the markers here last start and was rattling home to get within a head of victory. Only beaten a flared nostril the start prior, look for her swooping hard. VELOCE BELLA (1) steps up in class here however that is offset by landing the ace gate. Holding on to take them all the way last start at Redcliffe, she will get the options and can fill the exotics. SELECTIONS: JOSSIE JAMES (12), PAY ME INTEREST (6), CHARLYSE (10), VELOCE BELLA (1) SUGGESTED BET: JOSSIE JAMES (12) to win
RACE SIX ITS JUST KENNY (7) has the car-park draw to overcome but he might just find this a shade easier than last start. From inside the 2nd line last start he lost momentum at a crucial point as the straightened and he didn’t finish off. A strong winner 2 starts back, his run 3 back was huge and he can take this. THE SHADY ONE (3) will take good benefit from his latest start when resuming from a freshen. Finding the 1x1 from gate 3 he was sound to the line behind WATCH PULP FICTION. Only 5m from GLENFERRIE HOOD over the mile here 2 starts back, he will be challenging in the closing stages. MANDY KRIDEN (8) has claimed the bronze at her past 2 starts after starting from gate 1 in each. With the early option to get away from the pegs here, she will benefit from a strong tempo and can swoop late. REMEMBER THEM (1) paid a heavy price for a 55.9 opener last start when fading late. Landing his best gate for some time and with great early speed will get his chance to turn his fortunes around.
SELECTIONS: ITS JUST KENNY (7), THE SHADY ONE (3), MANDY KRIDEN (8), REMEMBER THEM (1) SUGGESTED BET: ITS JUST KENNY (7) to win
RACE SEVEN
SPUD (9) has worked his way back into some form after going through a trough and has been able to place at his past 2 starts. Taking on the mobile 2138m trip last start he closed out well to be 3m from the winner MIRACLE RISING. Looking well placed from the 10m he can work if needed to take this. IVANOV (1) is a safe beginner and from the inside lane can look to pounce on the lead. A winner off the front tape 4 starts back when stepping and leading throughout his latest effort saw him beaten a half-neck after sitting in the pocket trail. With the options he will give this a big shake. QUIETLY SPOKEN (4) made an error in the run last start which cost her all chance after galloping back through the pack. She did her share of work 2 starts back when only beaten 4m and can feature in this. SOUTHERN ALPS (10) stepped cleanly over this trip last time out and went straight to the front and once in control held on to score by a neck. He moves back 10m but will still be in the fight. SELECTIONS: SPUD (9), IVANOV (1), QUIETLY SPOKEN (4), SOUTHERN ALPS (10) SUGGESTED BET: SPUD (9) to win
RACE EIGHT GLENFERRIE HOOD (6) was sent forward from the 2nd line last start and forced his way to the front over the 2138m trip. Setting a strong tempo for the distance he faded in the closing stages to finish mid-field. Finishing the best to score over the mile 2 starts back, he hasn’t seen the front line in his past 6 outings. INVINCIBLE LOXTON (1) is working his way back to a peak following 3 runs in this campaign. Sent forward from gate 6 last start he was applying the pressure from the chair and was game in defeat when under 3m from the winner. He will need to be stoked up early but can look to capitalise from the gate. NUI TOC TIEN (2) was eased back early from gate 6 last time out and was attacking the line strongly in slick sectionals. From the gate he can look to ease in for cover and saved for 1 shot will rattle home. GANGSTER BOY (4) found his race last start when taking on a mid-week FFA he was able to press on to the front and take control over the 2138m trip. He will need to work but will be in for the fight.
SELECTIONS: GLENFERRIE HOOD (6), INVINCIBLE LOXTON (1), NUI TOC TIEN (2), GANGSTER BOY (4) SUGGESTED BET: GLENFERRIE HOOD (6) to win
RACE NINE TRILIGHT BRIGADE (9) pressed on to the breeze from gate 5 last start over the 2138m in a mares qualifier and proved too strong in scoring by a head. That was a good return to form after a 2 runs below her best and with some good pressure in the run can look to capitalise. THE MUSE (1) took on a Redcliffe 2280m event 2 starts back and from gate 2 went to the front and keeping an even tempo held them all off to score in good style. On the back-up from Wed night where she was strong, she can look to maximise her chances from the gate. ANNIKA MAGIC (3) rolled forward from gate 5 and pressed the issue to work to the front over the 2138m before fading late. She hit the line in good style 2 starts back and can chime in here. GRINVIL (8) eased back from gate 5 last start and was working home soundly in the closing stages. From the gate here she will get the perfect trip and be ready to issue a challenge when the gaps arrive.
SELECTIONS: TRILIGHT BRIGADE (9), THE MUSE (1), ANNIKA MAGIC (3), GRINVIL (8) SUGGESTED BET: TRILIGHT BRIGADE (9) to win
RACE TEN LINCOLN ROAD (1) put together 5 successive wins with a combination of strength and speed and then put a blot on the sheet when working hard when sent forward from the 2nd line. Back to his best last start when using the passing lane to score, he looks to get all the favours from the gate. MR MEDDLE (8) was a winner here 3 starts back in a 2nd division qualifier when finishing beast from the 2nd line to claim a tidy win. Not suited from gate 12 at his next start, his latest effort was full of merit in a tough race when forced back. With the great run in transit he can take the closing shot. GOTTA GOOD REASON (2) is screaming out to win a race but might find this a bit tough with LINCOLN ROAD getting the gate advantage. He hit the line strongly last start and can feature. OUR MAJOR DAY (11) worked forward from gate 5 over the mile 2 starts back and did plenty of work in the run when 5m from PARISIAN ROCKSTAR. The gate hurts but he has podium claims.
SELECTIONS: LINCOLN ROAD (1), MR MEDDLE (8), GOTTA GOOD REASON (2), OUR MAJOR DAY (11) SUGGESTED BET: LINCOLN ROAD (1) to win
