RACE TWO
MUSCULUS (3) had been meeting some of the better square gaiters in NZ including a Jewels tilt back in June. That was his last start in the Shaky Isles before making his debut at Redcliffe where it all went wrong in August. He resumes off a sharp trial and if anywhere near a peak has this in his grasp. SKYFLYER (7) makes his 1st race appearance in Qld for Narissa McMullen with the well-bred 6YO arriving a winner 2 starts back at Gawler. His latest start on Mar 2 saw him make an error before shipping across to the Sunshine State. Trialling in good order he can make an impression 1st up. MATATOKI (9) is racing well but just needs the right type of race conditions to suit. He found the 1x1 last start under mobile conditions and hit the line nicely for 3rd. A safe beginner he can feature here. NORAHS FLING (1) is safe from the tapes and with the benefit of the inside lane and the front strand can land in the right position. Better suited here than gate 6 from the mobile last time she can place. SELECTIONS: MUSCULUS (3), SKYFLYER (7), MATATOKI (9), NORAHS FLING (1) SUGGESTED BET: MUSCULUS (3) to win
RACE THREE
SEA HAWKE (6) has the wide gate to negotiate here but he strikes a race where he looks to have a class edge over his rivals. After securing successive wins at the 2138m and then the mile, he was freshened and the 2 runs since have been full of merit. He can look to roll forward and claim this. SAINT KILDA BEACH (7) has returned for her 3YO term in top order with a top-3 in all 5 outings including a pair of wins. Last start she chased gamely behind the smart TROJAN BANNER and 2 starts back hit the line hard after being buried in the run. With even luck from the gate she is in the fight. WHATA STRIDE (4) has been runner-up at her past 2 starts and been working in the run in both. Sent forward from the 2nd line last start she dug in when beaten 2m and can be thereabouts again. KYLIE BROMAC (8) resumed from a spell with a win at Redcliffe 3 starts back when hitting the line strongly from a 2nd line gate. She will need some luck but with the cosy trip can probe for the gaps. SELECTIONS: SEA HAWKE (6), SAINT KILDA BEACH (7), WHATA STRIDE (4), KYLIE BROMAC (8) SUGGESTED BET: SEA HAWKE (6) to win
RACE FOUR COMPLY OR DIE (5) made it 10 wins for the season last time out when scoring victory in his customary style. Spearing off the arm from gate 4 he found the front in a 27.4 opener and with the pace on throughout finished it off in sub 28 to run a career best 1.53.5 rate. He looks set to dictate. DESTINY WARRIOR (1) secured a qualifying victory here 3 starts back when finishing best over the mile from a 2nd line gate. Not suited over the 2138m at his next outing he tracked home strongly wide out over the Redcliffe sprint trip when beaten a head. With the cosy trip he can strike late. OUR MELS DREAM (8) landed a win over COMPLY OR DIE 3 starts back when finishing over the top from gate 6. The tables have been turned the past 2 but with a soft run he will swoop late in this. FRANCO TARIQ (7) continues his game of musical stables and steps out for Donny Smith again. A claiming winner 3 starts back when hitting the line strongly. He will be swooping home hard again.
SELECTIONS: COMPLY OR DIE (5), DESTINY WARRIOR (1), OUR MELS DREAM (8), FRANCO TARIQ (7) SUGGESTED BET: COMPLY OR DIE (5) to win
RACE FIVE
ITZ MAJOR LOOK (6) was locked away on the pegs when resuming from a break and tracked home wide out in good order to grab the silver. He wasn’t suited last start when working hard in a strong opening 800m over the 2138m trip and faded out. Back to the mile he might just be able to pinch the lead and the race. CHERRYS THE BEST (9) continues to race consistently and has been in the money at 6 of 7 starts for the season. She found the line nicely behind the smart ESCALERA last start which followed defeats by a head and a neck. If able to get the right cart into the contest she will be hard to stop. CANDYFLOSS (10) started from gate 9 at Redcliffe 2 starts back and was working home strongly to split the win in a dead-heat. Locked away on the pegs last time she can be finishing off strongly here. KASH US BACK (3) should take further benefit from his latest start when 2nd up from a break. He found the line strongly last time behind TROJAN BANNER and back into the main draw can be sharper. SELECTIONS: ITZ MAJOR LOOK (6), CHERRYS THE BEST (9), CANDYFLOSS (10), KASH US BACK (3) SUGGESTED BET: ITZ MAJOR LOOK (6) each-way
RACE SIX ROCKNROLL CLASSIC (8) has placed at his past 2 starts with the latest a tough effort when working forward to the breeze and sitting outside the top filly SMART AS CAMM BE and fighting on for the bronze. He charged home 2 starts back and while he needs some factors in his favour he can arrive. AMILLION PROMISES (2) resumes the term after showing promise as a 2YO before succumbing to an issue at his last start for the season and tailing out. He has been to the trials on 3 occasions to prepare for the return and if able to bring the form of his better runs last prep is in the mix in here. TIMELESS APPEAL (5) kicks off her 3YO season after a consistent 2YO term that saw her in the top-3 at 6 of 8 appearances. 3rd to the subsequent Derby winner MUSCLE FACTORY last time, she is in the fight at her return. TORQUE IS MY GIRL (4) sat in the trail and was the best of the chasing pack behind the smart ESCALERA 3 starts back and followed that with a tough effort at Redcliffe when beaten 4m. Place appeals. SELECTIONS: ROCKNROLL CLASSIC (8), AMILLION PROMISES (2), TIMELESS APPEAL (5), TORQUE IS MY GIRL (4) SUGGESTED BET:
RACE SEVEN
GETINANHANGON (2) made the most of gate 1 at Redcliffe 5 starts back when leading throughout over the sprint trip. His past 3 starts have all been from 2nd line gates with the latest on Sat night a tidy effort when hitting the line in good style. With the improved gate he can look to capitalise. MONTEREY JACK (9) started fav in the same race as GETINANHANGON on Sat and despite a mid-field finish it was a blanket-go and he was within 4m of the winner. Not suited from the breeze at Redcliffe 2 starts back he should be able to trail through to a handy position and make a late play. SWAFFHAM WATER (8) started from gate 6 at Redcliffe last time out and was tracking home soundly wide out. She will need a slice of luck from this gate but the economical trip will suit. DYNAMIC DEEJAY (4) was luckless last time out when buried in transit and probing for openings that never arrived. Holding on for 3rd the start prior when out in front, he can be around the mark here. SELECTIONS: GETINANHANGON (2), MONTEREY JACK (9), SWAFFHAM WATER (8), DYNAMIC DEEJAY (4) SUGGESTED BET: GETINANHANGON (2) to win
RACE EIGHT MICKEE CULLEN (1) retreated from gate 6 last start over the mile and was closing out hard to be 4m from the winner VINTAGE DREAM. That followed a tough run when circling the field to the breeze 2 starts back and finding his best gate for some time can look to take full advantage. HAPPY FEELINGS (7) has the tough gate to negotiate yet she looks to get in here nicely after racing much stronger opponents in recent starts. A passing lane winner 4 starts back she did her share of work in the run last time over the 2138m trip. With even luck in transit she can look to feature. HERITAGE BEACH (8) was game from the breeze last start when fighting on for 3rd behind RUTLESS ARMBRO. That followed a tough half-head 2nd and with the cosy trip on offer here has podium claims. ZALTA (10) may have some ordinary numbers next to his name but this is the type of race that he can be more effective in. Not suited when having to lead the 3-wide train last start he can be sharper.
SELECTIONS: MICKEE CULLEN (1), HAPPY FEELINGS (7), HERITAGE BEACH (8), ZALTA (10) SUGGESTED BET: MICKEE CULLEN (1) to win
RACE NINE HEAVENS HURRICANE (2) made the most of gate 3 to press forward in a slick opening 500m to take control here 4 starts back and maintained the lead to take them all the way. In the 3 starts since that win he has landed 2nd line gates yet still been in the mix when 4m from the winner in 2 of those. This is a test but he gets the gate advantage. RED CHARMER (11) was after a hat-trick of victories last start when sent forward to the breeze from gate 4 over the mile. Knuckling down for the fight she couldn’t out-sprint the passing lane winner CLARRY who ripped home in 27.1. The gate hurts but she will be in the fight at some point in this. INNOCENT CROCKER (8) will need some factors in her favour here as she looks set to be buried in the run. Finding the front from gate 3 last start she was grabbed up the passing lane a spot she will look to angle to herself here. MACHIN OUT (3) hasn’t been far away in recent outings and has been no further back than 4th in his past 4 starts. Best of the rest behind RED CHARMER 2 starts back he will be in for the fight here.
SELECTIONS: HEAVENS HURRICANE (2), RED CHARMER (11), INNOCENT CROCKER (8), MACHIN OUT (3) SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 2-3-8-11
