RACE TWO
ROCKNROLL CLASSIC (11) was able to breakthrough at Redcliffe on Wed night for a well-deserved 1st win in his 3YO term. He had been building to the win after some handy performances including a tough 2nd 2 starts back when forced to breeze. The gate hurts but he can look to go back-to-back. POINT OH FIVE (5) has been thereabouts of late without cashing-in and also comes into this after going around on Wed night. He led them up at the triangle 4 starts back when grabbed in the closing stages and finding early position here will be key to his chances. ALI DOWNUNDER (2) was snagged back from gate 6 last start at Redcliffe and then working into the race loomed up strongly in the stretch but was a little wayward and it may have cost him victory. From the good gate he can bounce back. COMMODORE JUJON (9) was a 1st up winner over the Redcliffe sprint trip and will strip fitter for the outing. Leading throughout in that he can be chiming in late here. SELECTIONS: ROCKNROLL CLASSIC (11), POINT OH FIVE (5), ALI DOWNUNDER (2), COMMODORE JUJON (9) SUGGESTED BET: ROCKNROLL CLASSIC (11) to win
RACE THREE
XAVIERS HURRIKANE (9) has won 2 of his 3 career appearances and been impressive in all 3 starts. Last start he was sent straight to the front and he was able to dictate to claim an easy 8m victory in strong time. He looks to have plenty of promise and despite a tricky gate can claim the prize. ROCKS OR DIAMONDS (10) has caught the eye at both career starts when finishing off strongly from back in the pack in each and has been able to place in each. Last start he grabbed the silver behind XAVIERS HURRIKANE when attacking late and saved for the last shot will be sprinting hard. BLACKSADANCE (7) has faced the starter on 6 occasions and has struggled to land a decent gate. He overcame this same gate last time to grab a narrow victory and will be thereabouts once again. SIR JUJON (1) looks set to get the right trip here and with the cosy run can be looking to chime in late. Working in the breeze last start he only went under by 2m and is in the mix here. SELECTIONS: XAVIERS HURRIKANE (9), ROCKS OR DIAMONDS (10), BLACKSADANCE (7), SIR JUJON (1) SUGGESTED BET: XAVIERS HURRIKANE (9) to win
RACE FOUR FROST EN ICE (7) is yet to miss a place in her 4 career starts and will enjoy taking on fillies only here despite the tough gate. Rolling forward to face the breeze from gate 5 last start she was in for the fight before fading late behind XAVIERS HURRIKANE. She will need to be at her best here but her best looks better than her opponents. MIRABAI (4) had no luck on debut and was shuffled back in the pack as the field sorted out and, in the process, ended her chances. Bouncing back when 2nd up, she made her own luck out in front when taking control from this same alley and leading throughout. She can give them something to chase. AMAYA BECOMES (10) did everything right at her only outing when settling in the trail from inside the 2nd line and finishing best up the passing lane to score. With the experience she can chime in. JIGGLE AND JIVE (11) was a debut winner when closing out strongly down the centre of the track for a tidy victory. Not suited off gate 6 at Redcliffe when 2nd up, look for her finishing on in the stretch.
SELECTIONS: FROST EN ICE (7), MIRABAI (4), AMAYA BECOMES (10), JIGGLE AND JIVE (11) SUGGESTED BET: FROST EN ICE (7) to win
RACE FIVE
FIRST STRING (9) heads back to the scene of his biggest career triumph and will be out to add the 3YO Triad title to the 2YO he claimed last season. Taking on the Gold Chalice series at his past 2 starts, he was a stylish heat winner before fading under a tough run in the final. He can land the double. HIPSTAR (4) has been racing in great touch with a to-2 finish in his past 6 runs in succession. Snagged back early from gate 7 last start he was then charging home late to arrive for a classy win. He took them all the way 3 starts back over this trip and settling handy will enjoy the tempo here. LEFT A TERROR (1) had put together a hat-trick of wins when able to lead all the way in each prior to landing gate 12 when taking on the older horses and finishing down the line behind PINUP BOY. He will get his chance in front here. REGULUS (6) has claimed wins at Newcastle in 2 of his past 4 starts and sandwiched between those 2 was a luckless Gold Chalice attack where he missed the final. The gate hurts here but he is a classy type who can bounce back. SELECTIONS: FIRST STRING (9), HIPSTAR (4), LEFT A TERROR (1), REGULUS (6) SUGGESTED BET: FIRST STRING (9) to win
RACE SIX SMART AS CAMM BE (3) is exactly as her name suggests and will be looking to continue her unbeaten run since resuming as a 3YO. Forced to work early to get across and dictate last start, she was then far too strong to score a comfortable win over the 2138m. Against her own age and sex they will be lining up for the placings. JOVIAL JULIE (1) looks best suited to lead home the chasing pack and has been able to win at her past 3 starts. 2 of those wins have been at Redcliffe where she has charged home from back in the pack. Her win here 3 starts back was a tidy effort and with the benefit of the cosy trip can grab the silver. CHERRYS THE BEST (8) can use the inside line and has been able to place at her past 4 in succession. She chased gamely last start behind ESCALERA and 2 back worked home well. She can be chiming in late. SIXPENNY RED (9) can look to drop to the pegs early here and with the inside the place to be secure a nice run and be looking to take the short-cuts home.
SELECTIONS: SMART AS CAMM BE (3), JOVIAL JULIE (1), CHERRYS THE BEST (8), SIXPENNY RED (9) SUGGESTED BET: Pegline trifecta 3 / 1-8 / 1-8-9
RACE SEVEN
DATALDO (5) was impressive here on Tues when having his 2nd race start he was able to find the 1x1 trail from gate 5 and then packed too many guns in the closing stages to claim a nice win. He found the line in good order at his Redcliffe debut when running on late and can make this win number 2. ART EGO (1) was forced to race tough last time out when having career start number 2 after rolling to the breeze from gate 4. In for the fight he was still whacking away at the finish when 5m in arrears to claim the bronze. From the good gate he will get his chance. GOOD AS IT GETS (7) had trialled in good order coming into his debut and was sent to the post as fav. Sliding back early he couldn’t work into it late. With the experience from the outing he can place. Here. SHADYS DELIGHT (3) has faced the starter on 3 occasions and been able to do everything right in his races. Not suited when working in the breeze last start, if he can find cover, he can chime in late. SELECTIONS: DATALDO (5), ART EGO (1), GOOD AS IT GETS (7), SHADYS DELIGHT (3) SUGGESTED BET: DATALDO (5) to win
RACE EIGHT COLT THIRTY ONE (10) has missed a placing just once in 24 appearances at Albion Park with that defeat coming when taking on the ‘big boys’ from gate 6 where he attacked the line in some sizzling sections to finish 4m from the winner. Trialling in top order for his return, back to his own age, he has a firm grip on the trophy. PINUP BOY (4) has been in great touch to finish in the money at his past 8 in succession. Rolling forward from gate 7 last start he was forced to do all the work in the breeze and fought gamely in a 1.53.2 mile to hold on for 2nd. The 2138m is not his ideal, but he looks a great chance for 2nd. FEEL THE REIGN (12) is another that has been racing super consistently this term and last start was closing out hard from a 2nd line gate when 2nd to the flying JUMPING JOLT. He is a place hope. ARK PATROL (1) should get a perfect trip here and with the pegs a good place to be is worthy of filling the exotics. He has been coming from a long way back at his recent starts and can chime in.
SELECTIONS: COLT THIRTY ONE (10), PINUP BOY (4), FEEL THE REIGN (12), ARK PATROL (1) SUGGESTED BET: Flexi trifecta 10 / 1-4-6-12
RACE NINE FAME ASSURED (1) had been successful in all 5 starts for the season heading in to a trip away to Menangle where she was forced to work in the run and faded late when down the line behind CALLMEQUEEENBEE. Given once start since that she faded under the tough run. With the soft trip here, she can sprint late to score. AQUA MISS (2) will be 1st up since the same Menangle race as FAME ASSURED back on Feb 16. Settling back in the pack she finished hard to finish within 3m of the winner in that race. Her stablemate has been able to get the better of here at their last 2 meetings but she can go close. RED CHARMER (8) was after a hat-trick last start when forced to park in the breeze over the mile. Working hard in the run she was only 6m in arrears. With the soft trip she can sprint late. DARBY BRIGHTS (3) closed out strongly from back in the pack at Redcliffe las time out to be 3m from the winner. In the small field she can look to get a good position and join in late in the numbers.
SELECTIONS: FAME ASSURED (1), AQUA MISS (2), RED CHARMER (8), DARBY BRIGHTS (3) SUGGESTED BET: FAME ASSURED (1) to win
ACE TEN BRONSKI MACARENA (1) made her debut here on Tues from this same gate. Allowed time to balance up and take the pocket trail, she then claimed the bronze behind DATALDO. With the experience from the run she looks set to breakthrough. A RAINBOW DIAMOND (8) didn’t have any luck at her only race start when she was caught trying to find position and was forced to snag all the way back. She then hit the line nicely to finish 6m from the winner. With the cosy trip she can close out hard. MISS LILY MAY (2) stepped out for the 1st time in the same race as BRONSKI MACARENA on Tues. Showing good early speed she looked to dictate and getting to the front again will fight hard. DUSTY PLAINS (6) is a Sportswriter filly on debut for Graham Dwyer. With limited exposed form in this race, this filly looks to have some scope and is a chance in the exotics.
SELECTIONS: BRONSKI MACARENA (1), A RAINBOW DIAMOND (8), MISS LILY MAY (2), DUSTY PLAINS (6) SUGGESTED BET: BRONSKI MACARENA (1) to win
