LIVE COVERAGE: Sky Racing Tattersall's Tiara Day

Saturday's Group 1 Sky Racing Tattersall's Tiara meeting promises to be one of the highlights of the 2019 TAB Queensland Winter Racing Carnival. 

The card is stacked with nine quality races, including the Group 3 Healy Stakes, Group 3 Tattersall's Cup, Listed G.H. Mumm and the $125,000 TAB Battle of the Bush Final.

“She’s a little beauty alright isn’t she!”

“We decided today to let the speed go a bit, but I cried when I thought Larry (Cassidy) let them go again, but she’s a game little thing and knuckled down.”

“She’s been doing the hard work up front in her races and getting beaten by the others, so she’s really come of age reversing that pattern today.”

“When she stepped the way she did with a bump I thought stuff if I’ll go three pairs back they’re going to go quick enough it doesn’t matter.”

“He’s not a bolting speed horse but he’s got class about him and will only be better over further, I think that’s why he’s snuck under a few people’s guards.”

“When I think back to good jockeys trying to pick which two-year-old’s they wanted to ride in their maiden’s he was never at the top of the list.”

“I’ve got a rough idea of what I want to do with him, but I’ll just let the dust settle first.”

“One thing I can tell you is he’ll have no problem over a longer trip.”

“He was a little bit fractious in the gates, I just had to get his mind on the job.”

“We jumped ok, but drifted back fairly quickly, he did well to pick up from three pairs back off a moderate speed.”

“He got a long way back, but that’s how we wanted to ride him, Michael (Cahill) was patient and got him there at the right time.”

“We got in around dinner time last night, it was a bit of a drive from home (Miles), but let me tell you it’s all worth it now.”

“Len (Leonard Mawn) was training him right up to his win in Barcaldine, he came to us in great condition and we picked up where he left off.”

“He got a lot better run today, after a really awkward one in the Fred Best last start.”

“The only little concern was giving him a month between runs, but he put them to bed.”

“No-one has been riding better than Blake (Shinn) this carnival and from a sticky draw in six he did a great job to lob him one out one back.”

“He’s done an amazing job this prep, starting as a maiden and leaving as a multiple stakes winner, he’s got a future.”

“We’ll take a break with him now, but when he comes back in either the Spring or Summer you’ll see him in some pretty nice races.”

“Great result for all the team, we couldn’t be happier after his bad luck in the Derby.”

“If we had the run of the winner we probably would have won the Derby, but we wouldn’t have been here for this race then.”

“It worked out ideally because we needed to see if he was a good stayer because I know Danny (O’Brien) has his eye on a certain 3200 metre race in the spring.”

“When we won the TCL Stakes on Oaks Day Danny said this horse is an elite staying prospect, he did it on pure guts over 1800 that day, but he’s answered the question if he can handle the trip.”

“He (Danny O’Brien) has a massive opinion of him, he was dirty he got beaten in the Derby when things didn’t go right, but it’s worked out alright because he wouldn’t have run today.”

“I think he’s got plans for him in the Spring and I can see why, but it’s always hard to judge where these horses are at because that was very soft.”

“We thought the horse was in winning form his last four starts and getting Tim Clark on last start for a narrow second and a win today is just rewards.”

“Tim really held his nerve on him today, he was sweating on a run and it was great to see him have that desire to the line once he got out.”

“He’s shot up in the ratings and he’s another great example of an imported horse that’s come over and done well.”

“He has excuses once he gets up in the ratings, but he’s carried weight well in the past at the Scone Cup and The Lord Mayor’s Cup at weight for age and has added a listed win at the Queensland carnival now.”

Shailer said Invincibella's Group One success was well deserved in the twilight of her racing career.

"It's eluded her for a long time but I think today she bounced off the back of her last run which was very good and gee she was tough today so there was no more horse deserving than her.”

“I was starting to think I was cursed, I saw the Cummings horse (Pohutukawa) loom up late and thought I was going to finish second again, but twelfth time was the charm.”

“She’s such a tough mare and to do it for Chris (Waller) who’s always supported me it’s a dream.”

“It would have been fantastic to take out the Group One, but three winners and a couple of seconds in my last meeting of the carnival I couldn’t ask for a better way to leave Queensland.”

“He’s a very talented horse, the writing was on the wall throughout this prep behind Trekking he deserved a nice win today.”

“I was getting a lot of crowding from the outside runners early, so I probably ended up a pair or two back from where I would have liked, but you’ve got to have confidence in his sprint.”

“I just let him relax and when the gaps came he took them and finished sensational.”

“It’s been an amazing carnival for me, I feel like I’m riding in the best form of my career and what a great way to go on to my next chapter in Hong Kong.
