RACE TWO
BEE GEES BANDIT (4) will take good benefit from his latest start when 2nd up off a brief let-up. Sliding back from gate 4, he looked to make a closing challenge from a long way back and peeled off some tidy closing splits in the process. Strong in the breeze the start prior, he knows how to do it! LETS KATCHMEIFUCAN (10) started from gate 4 here 2 starts back and was strong to the line when 3m from the winner THATSWHATISAID who was dictating in front. Forced to race wide off the track last start from the 2nd line, the tempo made it near impossible for the chasers. He will be right in this. THATSWHATISAID (8) has the tricky alley and looks in danger of being buried 3 back the poles. From that same position last week, he was out and chasing when 2nd. If the gaps open, he is a big threat. MAYWYNS COURAGE (2) made the most of conditions to take them all the way 3 starts back from gate 5 and followed that with consecutive placings within 3m of the winner. The distance is the query. SELECTIONS: BEE GEES BANDIT (4), LETS KATCHMEIFUCAN (10), THATSWHATISAID (8), MAYWYNS COURAGE (2) SUGGESTED BET:
RACE THREE
MAFUTA VAUTIN (1) has worked his way back into form and will go in search of the hat-trick after wins at the 2138m and sprint trips. Finding the 1x1 trail last start, he packed too many guns in the closing stages, running some smart panels on the way home. From the gate he has the options. TOM ME GUN (12) isn’t given any favours from the tough alley here, but he is in great touch with wins in 3 of his past 4. With too many bullets in front last start, he was able to keep them chasing in a 27.2 closer. That followed a brave run from this gate when only 6m from FAME ASSURED. KETUT (10) was a winner here 3 starts back when sprinting sharply once the gaps opened to score a sharp win. Runner-up at his past 2 when not far away, look for him swooping home in the stretch. CHAPTER ONE (8) was a winner here 5 starts back in mid-week company when securing the passing lane and taking the closing shot. Forced to come wide off the track in 4 runs since, he can stalk here. SELECTIONS: MAFUTA VAUTIN (1), TOM ME GUN (12), KETUT (10), CHAPTER ONE (8) SUGGESTED BET: MAFUTA VAUTIN (1) to win
RACE FOUR ROYAL STORY (10) didn’t have the speed from gate 1 to repel the early burn of ONE HELL OF A RIDE and from the pocket trail held on for an 11m 3rd after the white-hot speed. Buried in the run from gate 13 the start prior, she attacked the line strongly late. Back to mares only she gets her chance. HOWS THE MEMORY (4) was 3rd up from a break here last start when settling back in the pack from a 2nd line gate as the starting fav. With a solid tempo in the run, she couldn’t work into the race. Strong to the line here 2 starts back when beaten an eyelash, moving to the front line is a big plus. ARCACHON (8) was forced to do it tough in the breeze against mares 3 starts back when only 3.5m from the winner and has placed her past 2 from the peg-line. With a soft trip, she can chime in again. ASHI JETSUN (1) looked to take them all the way last start over the 2138m trip and was able to get away with some steady sections but couldn’t finish them off. The mile suits and she has claims.
SELECTIONS: ROYAL STORY (10), HOWS THE MEMORY (4), ARCACHON (8), ASHI JETSUN (1) SUGGESTED BET: ROYAL STORY (10) to win
RACE FIVE
MISTER DIAMOND (1) snagged back from gate 7 last start and with plenty of tempo in the mile, was produced late in the stretch to run straight past them. Forget his latest start where he wasn’t on his game and was slow into the match. With the options from the alley, he looks set to get his chance. PASS THE SPEIGHTS (3) has started inside the 2nd line at both Qld appearances, finishing with a silver and a gold from the 2 outings. Last time out he used the passing lane to arrive in a tidy closing 800m to take a neck margin. Back to the front line, he will be throwing down the challenge. MISTERRIODEJANEIRO (8) will need some factors in his favour here, but with the soft trip on offer can probe the gas in the stretch. Put a line through his latest offering, he can chime in here. MISSINMEMATE (2) was shuffled a long way back here 2 starts back yet was attacking the line with venom in the closing stages when 2.5m from RECIPE FOR DREAMING. From the gate he is a player SELECTIONS: MISTER DIAMOND (1), PASS THE SPEIGHTS (3), MISTERRIODEJANEIRO (8), MISSINMEMATE (2) SUGGESTED BET: MISTER DIAMOND (1) to win
RACE SIX ALLELUIA (8) was buried on the pegs in the Blacks A Fake and once the gap arrived in the stretch, he was finding the line in good style. Luckless the week prior in the Sunshine Sprint when hitting dead-ends, he will appreciate a soft run and an absence of the main stars. With that trip he can be coiled and ready to strike. MACH ALERT (1) stayed home from the main features of the past 3 weeks and will tackle this freshened. Last start in the Wondais Mate he found the front from the two-hole and set a solid tempo, fading in the closing stages. With the gate benefit, he will be hoping to pinch a panel here. ELENIARK (2) will appreciate getting back to the mile after not really being suited over the long trip in the Blacks A Fake. A game 3rd to ANNIKA MAGIC 2 starts back, she will be in the mix. MAJOR CAM (5) returns from a long break and with limited opportunities has to be pitch-forked straight into this. Trialling 3 times in readiness, he was last seen when beaten a half-neck behind AVONNOVA. He will take great benefit from the run.
SELECTIONS: ALLELUIA (8), MACH ALERT (1), ELENIARK (2), MAJOR CAM (5) SUGGESTED BET: ALLELUIA (8) to win
RACE SEVEN
ONE HELL OF A RIDE (1) brutalised his opponents in a power-running display last week at his Qld debut, opening in sub 27 and bringing it home in sub 27 to set a 1.51.3 mile. Highlighting the effort was the fact he was 1st up in over 12 months. Fitter for the run and from the ace, he looks in control. TULHURST ACE (9) was luckless last start and a line can be out through his latest outing when he struck traffic and never saw space. His run 2 starts back was a solid effort when wide off the track and chasing from gate 11. With even luck in transit he can set about leading the chase. A GOOD CHANCE (5) was sent to the breeze from the 2nd line last start and was in for the fight when 3rd to MAFUTA VAUTIN. He will need to roll the sleeves again here, but won’t shirk the task. HOT ROD HEAVEN (8) was looking for clear air when finishing within 5m of MAFUTA VAUTIN last start. He will get a soft run in transit and with the pegs likely a good place with a hot tempo, he can chime in. SELECTIONS: ONE HELL OF A RIDE (1), TULHURST ACE (9), A GOOD CHANCE (5), HOT ROD HEAVEN (8) SUGGESTED BET:
RACE EIGHT JUST SEDUCE ME (4) has been in great touch since returning to Qld including a top-3 at 4 of her past 5 starts. Sent to the front over the mile here 2 runs back she kept the speed on all the way, holding on to claim a 1.5m victory in a new career PB. Her last start was full of merit and she can take this. ELLE YEAH (7) is still searching for her 1st win here at The Creek, despite returning some top runs in recent outings. Tough from the breeze outside TOM ME GUN in a sizzling last 800m last time, she attacked the line strongly in the ANNIKA MAGIC track record run 2 back. The gate hurts but she can challenge. LISA LINCOLN (3) has been runner-up at her past 2 starts, the latest when looking to take them all the way. Grabbed up the passing lane in the closing stages, she can fire the 1st shot at release point. GETOUTNWALK (2) was happy to take the trail last time from gate 1 and then angled to the outside in the stretch, sprinted sharply to take the prize. Her run 2 back was good and she is in the mix.
SELECTIONS: JUST SEDUCE ME (4), ELLE YEAH (7), LISA LINCOLN (3), GETOUTNWALK (2) SUGGESTED BET:
RACE NINE LEOS BEST (2) has been crying out to land a marble and with the improved alley he can turn his fortunes around. Out of play as soon as he snagged back from gate 7 last start in the electric mile taken by JOSSIE JAMES, he attacked the line late for 3rd behind SALOON PASSAGE 2 back. This is his chance. SALOON PASSAGE (3) pulled the trigger early and went straight to the front from gate 4 here 2 starts back and despite the front costing a sub 27 opener, he still had enough bullets to take a 2m victory. Doing a power of work and never closer than 3-wide, he faded out. He can bounce back with venom. BENICIO (7) has no favours from the wide gate but in the small field can look for cheap position and be ready to stalk a hot tempo. Not far away from HOLY CAMP CLIVE 2 start back, he can chime in. CHANTREY (4) was forced to race tough here 2 starts back when cutting the breeze outside SALOON PASSAGE. He took them all the way over the mile 2 starts back and will be right in the fight again.
SELECTIONS: LEOS BEST (2), SALOON PASSAGE (3), BENICIO (7), CHANTREY (4) SUGGESTED BET: LEOS BEST (2) to win
RACE TEN EMPIRE BAY (4) looked to be no chance of featuring in the Trotters Marathon last week when a long way off the front runners. Angling into open space he was eating up the track in the closing stages to grab the bronze, 7m from the winner. Not suited when working the start prior, he can build off the last start to take this. MIRACLE RISING (5) has been in the money at 6 of his past 7 starts, finishing the runner-up at his past 2 in succession. Working his way to the front last start, it took the length of the stretch for JUSTABITNOISY to run him down, beaten a neck. He will be giving this a shake. JUSTABITNOISY (6) backs up from his Marathon win last week where he ended a prolonged winless streak that dated back almost two years. His runs building towards that win had been full of merit and he can look to for the back-to-back success. OUR OVERANOVA (7) worked home strongly from his 35m tape last start and was only 7m from the winner. His run in the G1 Trotters Cup the week prior was strong and with the right cart home it would be no surprise to see him mark his sesquicentenary of race-starts in grand style.
SELECTIONS: EMPIRE BAY (4), MIRACLE RISING (5), JUSTABITNOISY (6), OUR OVERANOVA (7) SUGGESTED BET: EMPIRE BAY (4) to win
