RACE TWO
His numbers aren’t much to get excited by, yet SIT DOWN WALTER (3) should be fitter again after his latest start, 3rd up after 2 years off the scene. Pressing forward from gate 4, he did his share of work before fading out. From tough gates at his 1st 2 starts back, he looks to get his chance. OUR DOUG (9) found his race last start from gate 10 and with a patient drive was put into the contest at the right time to cruise past them to score a 5m victory. Beaten as the fav the start prior when negotiating gate 7, if the tempo is solid in this contest, look for him descending late. GUTS (4) found the line in sound order to grab the bronze over the AP mile 4 starts back and then last start back here at Redcliffe fought on for the bronze. He won’t be too far away again in this. WANJIRU (5) will take her 1st look at the Triangle and arrives a last start Marburg winner when finding the line in nice style to claim a 3m victory. The gate hurts, but she can be chiming in late. SELECTIONS: SIT DOWN WALTER (3), OUR DOUG (9), GUTS (4), WANJIRU (5) SUGGESTED BET:
RACE THREE
TOP FLIGHT CRUIZE (4) was luckless here last week when stuck in traffic and losing his momentum at a vital stage. Only 3m from the winner from his 2nd line gate, he wasn’t far away at his previous 2 starts when taking on qualifiers. With good early speed, he can press ahead and atone for last week. BIG IN AMERICA (2) was locked away on the poles from an inside 2nd line gate last start and then lost all chance behind a tiring runner right as the leader kicked clear. Only 7m from MATRON JUJON 2 starts back, the return to Redcliffe is in her favour and she can find early position to feature in this. RIVERLEIGH JEFF (1) lands his best gate for some time and if able to hustle to protect the pegs, would certainly be able to give some cheek in this. Not suited from gate 7 last start, don’t discount. DONNY JONES (7) was locked away from inside the 2nd line over the AP 2318m trip last start and chased gamely when mid-field to KURAHAUPO GAMBLER. With another soft trip he will be probing.
SELECTIONS: TOP FLIGHT CRUIZE (4), BIG IN AMERICA (2), RIVERLEIGH JEFF (1), DONNY JONES (7) SUGGESTED BET: TOP FLIGHT CRUIZE (4) to win
RACE FOUR GIVE ME FIFTY (10) was only 6m from the winner last start at Marburg after being stuck on the pegs and not getting a crack at them. 3 starts back he run into a smart one in the shape of BILLY LINCOLN and followed that with a torrid trip. Despite gate 10, with even luck in transit, he will get his chance. LAZY BLAZE (5) chased hard trying to find space last start when grabbing the silver behind OUR DOUG over the 2040m. That followed some tidy efforts at Albion Park when not too far away. His runs this campaign have all had merit and although he faces a sticky gate, he can feature here. PERFECT FEELING (1) broek free of the maiden tag when able to take them all the way at Marburg 5 starts back from gate 1. Working hard in the run here last start, the gate is a big plus and he is in this. BERTILS DELIGHT (7) will be glued to the back of the 1 and if it looks to take them all the way, this lady will be dressed and ready to dance. Fitter following 1 run back from a break, look for her along the inside.
SELECTIONS: GIVE ME FIFTY (10), LAZY BLAZE (5), PERFECT FEELING (1), BERTILS DELIGHT (7) SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 1-5-7-10
RACE FIVE
MY WINGMAN (5) speared out of the machine over the AP mile last start and dictating the speed out in front cruised home to a comfortable 5m victory in setting a new career benchmark. Warming up to that effort with a pair of tidy efforts at Marburg, he can be lit up to lead and fight them off. MOONLIGHT BUTCHER (6) has a tough gate as he looks for the hat-trick of victories following successive wins over the Marburg 1850m. Last start he worked home strongly to nudge out MY WINGMAN by a head, with a further 20m back to 3rd. Despite the 6 he can challenge hard. MAYWYN NO REGRETS (9) resumes to start her 4YO term after securing 3 victories last season. Grabbed in the closing stages here 2 starts back when leading them up, she has claims 1st up. DOWNTOWN LUCCA (10) secured the pocket trail over the AP mile 2 starts back and when the gap arrived, sprinted sharply to score. He didn’t have much luck last start but can be thereabouts here.
SELECTIONS: MY WINGMAN (5), MOONLIGHT BUTCHER (6), MAYWYN NO REGRETS (9), DOWNTOWN LUCCA (10) SUGGESTED BET: MY WINGMAN (5) to win
RACE SIX A tough maiden to line up here but with the benefit of an improved alley, CHARAS ACCENT (3) can look to open his account. With no luck in landing a marble, he finally moves to the front line which is a big plus. Only 3m from the winner 2 starts back, he struck trouble last time. This looks his time. THATS FUNNY (9) has the tough gate but should appreciate the return to maiden company after facing more experienced rivals in recent starts. Best of the rest here last week behind WILD ABOUT TOWN, with the right run in transit she can throw down the challenge. DELIGHT OF RANI (10) makes just his 2nd career start and 1st here in Qld for Travis Mackay. Given a handful of trials trying to sort out his issues, if he can put it together, this isn’t too far out of reach. PAGO PAGO (2) displayed good improvement from his debut run into his 2nd career start last time out. Working home soundly when 6m in arrears, with further experience, he is right in the mix here.
SELECTIONS: CHARAS ACCENT (3), THATS FUNNY (9), DELIGHT OF RANI (10), PAGO PAGO (2) SUGGESTED BET: CHARAS ACCENT (3) to win
RACE SEVEN
MYRTLE BEACH (1) made an error in the run last start but was able to reset and apply the pressure in the run from the breeze. Fighting gamely, she held on for the silver behind FULL OF HER SELF. Still looking to break the maiden status, if she can step cleanly over the sprint trip, this can be the night. WHATABOYZ (7) takes his 1st look at Redcliffe as he looks to end a long winless streak and land his 1st victory in Qld. He didn’t have the cleanest trip last start when just in behind the placings and the start prior he found the line strongly when 7m from IMAHE MAN. This can be his chance. FULL OF HER SELF (8) shoots for the hat-trick after successive wins over the AP 2138m and then here last week over this trip. She moves back a further 10m but must be considered. MONORAIL (9) worked home in nice style after being locked away last start. Sprinting nicely when the gap opened to nab the victory, he can be thereabouts with the right cart home.
SELECTIONS: MYRTLE BEACH (1), WHATABOYZ (7), FULL OF HER SELF (8), MONORAIL (9) SUGGESTED BET: MYRTLE BEACH (1) to win
RACE EIGHT LA BELLE CHEVAL (6) has the wide gate to overcome but in a race where the whole field are looking to recapture some form, she has enough of an edge to overcome the alley. From gate 1 over the AP mile last start, she chased hard for 2nd behind KWASII and fitter after 3 runs back can capitalise. WHATA STRIDE (3) has been in the money at 4 of her past 5 appearances, the latest when finding the front over the 1780m prior to taking a trail. Issuing a closing play, she was 3m from the winner which followed a 3rd to DOWNTOWN LUCCA when using the passing lane. She won’t be far away. GIGANTIC JASPER (4) has been freshened since the Redcliffe track has been out of play. Midfield last start after an early dip for the front, the 2040m is a query, but with the right trip he has podium claims. TORQUE TO THE MAX (2) wasn’t suited here last week when forced to snag back from gate 6 after being unable to find position. With an improved gate, she can be thereabouts. SELECTIONS: LA BELLE CHEVAL (6), WHATA STRIDE (3), GIGANTIC JASPER (4), TORQUE TO THE MAX (2) SUGGESTED BET: LA BELLE CHEVAL (6) to win
