The state’s turf experts have come together for Racing Queensland’s inaugural Racecourse and Track Managers Conference.
The Conference, which was held at the Sunshine Coast Turf Club last month, was structured to provide best-practice advice on racecourse turf management.
With the GoingStick now being used at Eagle Farm, Doomben and the Sunshine Coast - with Townsville expected to come on line next month – the TurfTrax device was the feature presentation of the day.
Other agenda items included pest identification, with monitoring and application a key focus.
Further to its identification, the calibration of spray equipment in order to gain control of affected areas was also discussed.
The conference concluded with a tour of the host turf club’s facilities, and an assessment of the racing, training and stabling operations.
Representation came from far and wide, with the following clubs present at the conference:
- Brisbane Racing Club;
- Gold Coast Turf Club;
- Sunshine Coast Turf Club;
- Beaudesert Turf Club;
- Cairns Jockey Club;
- Ipswich Turf Club;
- Kilcoy Jockey Club;
- Lockyer Valley Turf Club;
- Mackay Turf Club; and
- Warwick Turf Club.
The Racecourse and Track Managers Conference is expected to be staged as an annual event, with invites extended to all Tier 1 and Tier 2 clubs across the state.
