RACE TWO
THE BUS (9) will take benefit from his latest run when 2nd up from a break. Angling out to make a run he looked to loom but just hit a flat spot before knuckling down to the task again in the stretch to finish mid-field behind CHANGE OF MIND. He hit the line strongly on return and gets a chance here. LEXUS ON THE BEACH (2) is always in for the fight and been in consistent touch, with a top-3 in 8 of his past 10 outings. Chasing hard last start to grab the silver, his run 2 back when 3rd to TULHURST SANTANNA was a strong return. From the gate he will once again be right in the fight. BIG BANG LEONARD (8) has been a revelation since arriving in Qld and bounced back on Tues with a stylish win from gate 7. Inside the 2nd line looks a bit tricky here, but if he sights space with track to work with, he can arrive. MACEY JAYDE (3) can be a risk in the score up and at release, but if she gets it right, is in the mix. An all the way winner 2 starts back, her fate is likely to be known early. SELECTIONS: THE BUS (9), LEXUS ON THE BEACH (2), BIG BANG LEONARD (8), MACEY JAYDE (3) SUGGESTED BET: THE BUS (9) to win
RACE THREE
CONDAFEW (8) is on the back-up from Thursday at Redcliffe where he looked a solid hope and looking to build on his good form, albeit without much luck along the way. 3rd in a Golden Guitar heat 2 starts back from the 2nd line, he should get the perfect trip here to take the closing shot. MAJOR LUCKY (1) is in search of a hat-trick of victories following success in a 2nd division qualifier here last week. Sent straight to the front over the 2138m, he was never in danger in taking an 8m victory. With the speed to dictate, he will be looking to fight them off again here. MUCH BETTOR (9) was stuck in traffic last start from gate 4 and never had a decent crack at them. Tough in the breeze the start prior, the pegs might be the play here and he can be probing for some gaps. BLADE (7) makes his Qld debut after arriving following a freshen from his latest outing in early December. Given a pipe opener with a sharp trial, he flashed gate speed in that trial and stays under notice for the astute Cini barn.
SELECTIONS: CONDAFEW (8), MAJOR LUCKY (1), MUCH BETTOR (9), BLADE (7) SUGGESTED BET: CONDAFEW (8) to win
RACE FOUR SHERIFF JUJON (1) has been in the black-book this campaign and finally lands a marble. Off the 2nd line in 4 of his 5 appearances since resuming, he has been returning some eye-catching efforts, the latest when buried in the run and closing nicely to be 9m away. This looks his chance to cash-in. KILLARA KAOS (8) made the most of the ace gate 2 runs back and taking control packed too many guns to claim a 5m victory. Buried in the run last start from inside the 2nd line, he was probing for openings that didn’t really present. With a soft run here, he will be coiled and ready to strike. HARD TO HEAR (7) finally found the right conditions here last start and after a pedestrian opening quarter looked well in control. Forced into a 56 sec middle half, he was nabbed late and despite the wide gate here, is going well enough to feature. HES NOVAK (9) backs up from Thurs at Redcliffe where he looked to have some chance. A tough Tamworth winner 5 starts back, with the right run in transit he can chime in here.
SELECTIONS: SHERIFF JUJON (1), KILLARA KAOS (8), HARD TO HEAR (7), HES NOVAK (9) SUGGESTED BET: SHERIFF JUJON / KILLARA KAOS (1 / 8) Quinella
RACE FIVE
A superb clash presents itself here with the 4YO TIZ A SIZZLER (6) and 3YO JIGGLE AND JIVE (5) both impressive heat winners of this series looking the main hopes. TIZ A SIZZLER has been superb since arriving from NZ with 3 wins and the narrowest of 2nds in 5 outings. Too strong in his heat when pressing forward, he might be a touch too strong here. JIGGLE AND JIVE (5) won’t give it away without a fight however, last season’s 2YO Fillies Triad winner in great touch since resuming this term. Breaking 1.54 in leading all the way 1st up, she was content to park out last time in flexing her muscle. This looms as a great test for her season ahead. MILLWOOD TILLY (1) has good speed out of the machine and with the gate advantage can look to test any chinks the big-two hopes may have. 9m away in her heat from gate 4, she will be fitter from that outing. ETERNAL PROMISE (8) will get the cosiest trip on offer and if able to find the lane with bullets to fire, can be a knockout hope. Fitter following her last outing when resuming from a break and grabbing 2nd to JIGGLE AND JIVE, look for her probing the gaps.
SELECTIONS: TIZ A SIZZLER (6), JIGGLE AND JIVE (5), MILLWOOD TILLY (1), ETERNAL PROMISE (8) SUGGESTED BET: TIZ A SIZZLER (6) to win
RACE SIX
This is a tricky quasi FFA to line up with the power drawn off the 2nd line and the power that ROCK WITH SAM (11) brings is strong at present. He backs up from a mid-week victory here on Tues to complete a hat-trick of victories after closing out with a sub 55 closing 800m. Tough in the breeze the start prior at the mile, he is in the zone. CASINO TOMMY (3) is going large without securing the top earners money at his past few. Continuing to find after racing tough in the breeze last start and getting within a neck of ZAHVEN BANNER in slippery time, if he can bully his way to the front, he will give plenty of cheek. MACH ALERT (12) was closing hard here on Tues when once again running sizzling closing panels in defeat. With no favours again from this alley, look for him swooping hard in the stretch. OUR MAJOR DAY (2) made the most of a rare appearance with the red saddle-cloth last start when taking cover and then finishing best along the passing lane to score. From the gate he is in the mix. SELECTIONS: ROCK WITH SAM (11), CASINO TOMMY (3), MACH ALERT (12), OUR MAJOR DAY (2) SUGGESTED BET: ROCK WITH SAM (11) to win
RACE SEVEN
BANGKOK BRAVADO (1) was sent to the pegs from the 2nd line last start to look for some luck that didn’t arrive in a Rising Stars heat claimed by TIZ A SIZZLER. Too far back the start prior when retreating from gate 6, he has the big gate improvement here and gets his chance to capitalise. TAYLOR HOOD (6) was wide off the track the last lap at Redcliffe last start when responsible for a tough effort to hold on for the bronze and only 1.5m in arrears of the top prize. 2 starts back he was hitting the line strongly from gate 6 and with the ability to work in his runs can challenge here. KEY LARGO (10) doesn’t have any favours from gate 10 but at his best would be capable enough against these. Fading out last start as the fav, if that can be forgiven, he is worth another chance. ONLY IN ROME (9) took on a 2nd division qualifier last start when wide off the track and closing out nicely to grab the bronze. With even luck in transit, look for him chiming in late.
SELECTIONS: BANGKOK BRAVADO (1), TAYLOR HOOD (6), KEY LARGO (10), ONLY IN ROME (9) SUGGESTED BET: BANGKOK BRAVADO (1) to win
RACE EIGHT DE VOYAGE (1) had been building towards a victory with some eye-catching runs and franked that last start when closing out in good order to take victory over the mile. Her run from gate 7 the start prior was a tidy effort under the circumstances and with the peg-line benefits can make the last shot a winner. CHERRYS THE BEST (6) started from the 2nd line here and was wide off the track for a long way when chasing home to grab the silver when 4m in arrears of the winner HADLEY. Last time out in a stronger mares event she split the prize in a dead-heat victory when racing tough. Big threat. PURE CHARISMA (2) has been in the money in 3 of her 4 outings in Qld, including a win when proving too tough in the breeze from gate 5 at Redcliffe. Firing the early shots, she can be gripping on. DOOLITTLE DOOZZIE (8) eased back from gate 6 last start over the 2040m at Redcliffe and coming with a well-timed run arrived for a narrow victory. Tough in the breeze the start prior, she will be probing.
SELECTIONS: DE VOYAGE (1), CHERRYS THE BEST (6), PURE CHARISMA (2), DOOLITTLE DOOZZIE (8) SUGGESTED BET: DE VOYAGE (1) to win
RACE NINE STRAIGHTOUTAHEAVEN (4) started his career the best way possible when pressing forward from gate 5 over the Redcliffe sprint trip. Taking control, he was a smart 4m winner. This is a rise off that, but with the experience garnered from the debut, can look to make it 2 from 2. WHATA CHALLENGE (2) made the most of gate 1 over the 2138m here 2 starts back when 7m from the winner. He didn’t have the smoothest passage last start over the Redcliffe sprint when beyond mid-field but from the front line here can settle handy and chime in late to challenge. HUNTAWAY (6) was a winner on the grass at Kilcoy 3 starts back when finishing over the top to claim a 14m victory. He found the line soundly from a long way back at his next start and is in the mix. LANCELOT BROMAC (7) makes his 1st appearance of 2020 and will be hoping to start the calendar year the same way he started the racing season, with a win. He can get forward and if able to turn back the clock marginally, has some claims.
SELECTIONS: STRAIGHTOUTAHEAVEN (4), WHATA CHALLENGE (2), HUNTAWAY (6), LANCELOT BROMAC (7) SUGGESTED BET:
RACE TEN Able to defeat a similar field last week at the stand-start conditions ALS LAW (2) lands the right gate to look to add a mobile victory. Releasing the speed and then taking the passing lane shot to score last time, he can use his early speed from the machine and look to repeat the pattern to score. QUIETLY SPOKEN (5) has been in nice touch since returning to Qld and lines up here at the mobile mile where she is the track record holder. Hitting the line strongly last week for the silver after starting from the 20m tape, she was too quick in the closing stages the week prior. She can arrive. OUR OVERANOVA (8) has a superb record overall and even better from the mobile here at The Creek. Inside the 2nd line provides no favours here, but never discount his chances. CLOVER MAC (6) made a complete mess of things last start and was never a factor. Fighting hard in the breeze the start prior when only 6m away, he can get forward here and has podium claims.
SELECTIONS: ALS LAW (2), QUIETLY SPOKEN (5), OUR OVERANOVA (8), CLOVER MAC (6) SUGGESTED BET: ALS LAW (2) to win
