Trainer – Stuart Kendrick

“It was really nice to see him do that, I’ve been saying to the guys all prep the further he goes the better he’ll get he’s a real stayer and we’ll probably look to step him up again.”

“It was good today they ran along at a good clip where a lot of the races he’s been in they’ve walked, but it really suited him today.”

“I don’t think you can change his pattern he likes to go back, but Jimmy told us in all his work he’s just so relaxed and blinkers on have probably helped too.”

“there’s a couple of nice options for him in Sydney, the Tulloch Stakes is a week before the Derby and the Rosehill Guinea’s are also an option, but his next start will be down there.”

“They’re only three once and I think he’s only going to get better with the rise in class.”

Jockey – Jimmy Orman

“I gave him a squeeze at the 500 just to ease him out and get him going and he responded immediately.”

“Malawi Gold looked like it was up to the task and was going to really challenge us, but Stuey was confident in his staying ability and he got the upper hand.”

“Today was decision day whether he was going to press on to Sydney, really happy to get it done for the stable.”

Race 2 - 1:13PM HIT105 RNB FRIDAYS' BENCHMARK 90 Handicap (2000 METRES)

1st - Mongolian Wolf - Kris Lees - Andrew Mallyon

Stable Rep - Mel Eggleston

"Andrew gave him a peach of a ride, he's the sort of horse who's got a real short sharp dash and you have to hit the button at the right time on him and not go too early."

"I was pretty confident coming into the straight he hadn't used him up and he just timed his run to perfection."

"This horse has been in some good races and if Kris chooses to keep him up here he's the type of horse who can win a race in the Winter Carnival."

Jockey - Andrew Mallyon

"We didn't have to do any work early there was some genuine pace in the race, I just had to bide my time."

"The track's in perfect condition there's not much wear on it, I think everyone is going to get a chance today."

Race 3 - 1:48PM IPG MARKETING SOLUTIONS JEWEL PRELUDE 2-Y-O Colts & Geldings Plate (1110 METRES)

1st – Rothfire – Robert Heathcote – Robbie Fradd

2nd – Mishani Fraudster – Les Ross – Luke Tarrant

3rd – Safework – Scott Morrisey – Mark Du Plessis

Trainer – Robert Heathcote

“He’s the most exciting horse I’ve had since Buffering back in 2016, as I’ve openly said he’s doing things as a two-year-old that Buffering couldn’t do.”

“He’s so clam he’s so relaxed he does everything seemingly effortlessly, but he slingshots out of the barriers and travels has no problem with the 1200 metres and on we go to the QTIS Jewel.”

“I’m not going to say anything outrageous and declare him for the Golden Slipper now, I’ll sit down with my owners and we’ll make a decision soon.”

“I had a few butterflies today, when he landed a length in front, I took a big sigh of relief I knew he’d get them off the bit.”

Jockey – Robbie Fradd

“When he jumps he has a length on them already, he just free rolls out in front you don’t have to bring him back too much and save him for a kick.”

“He’s always been well clear inside the hundred metres but when something challenges him, I think you’re going to see even more.”

“He’s such a relaxed type and he’s a two-year-old, very strong in the shoulders and hind quarters, you just can’t fault him.”

Race 4 -  2:23PM WINNING EDGE PRESENTATIONS JEWEL PRELUDE 2-Y-O Fillies Plate (1110 METRES)

1st – Kisukano – Michael Nolan – Mark Du Plessis

2nd – Redoute’s Image – Kris Lees – Andrew Mallyon

3rd – Hembrow – Michael Costa – Brad Stewart

3-1.jpeg

Trainer – Michael Nolan

“Coming down here today we drew wide again and with two other good fillies in the Sears and Lees pair in it, there was a lot against us it was a massive win.”

“When Mark made the decision to press forward at the 800 and sit in behind them it was probably the winning move, the speed was hot, and we got a beautiful camp.”

“We see that finish in track work and we were humbled a little by Rothfire last start, but I’m just ecstatic to see her bounce back like that.”

“We’ll head to the Jewel now and probably clash again, I’d like to think we’d give him a race but there’s nothing wrong with running second.”

“Mark had his own plan today to not let them get away with too much and in the end she got there with plenty to spare.”

Jockey – Mark Du Plessis

“I was quite pleased to see Rothfire do what he did today because we thought she’d taken a few steps back last start, but she’s franked the form and did it easy.”

“She’s still got a lot to learn it took me a bit to get her on balance once we straightened up, I think she has improvement heading to the Jewel.”

Race 5 - 3:02PM MEMBERS AT TATTERSALL'S OPEN Handicap (1200 METRES)

1st – Manaya – Michael Costa – Matthew McGillivray

2nd – Grey Missile – Toby & Trent Edmonds – Robbie Fradd

3rd – Macewen – Tony Gollan – Sean Cormack

4.jpeg

Trainer – Michael Costa

“She always needs that first up run she’s a mare that has that extra gear that you can’t quite get out of her in trackwork, we’ve learnt that about her now and know how to deal with it.”

“It was a peach of a ride, I think it was Matty’s tactics that won the race.”

“She’ll good on to be a good brood mare with black type already under her belt, but we think she’s got more wins with her and we’ll have a go at the Goldmarket in a couple of weeks.”

Jockey – Matthew McGillivray

“She’s a funny horse to ride you can’t expose her to early but ridden correctly she has a really good two/three hundred metre dash.”

“We weren’t going to quick, so that’s an extra tick she didn’t have it all her own way.”

“She needs to be smothered up held up a little bit longer that’s when she shows her best dash.”

Race 6 -  3:42PM G.H. MUMM JEWEL PRELUDE 3-Y-O Plate (1200 METRES)

1st – The Odyssey – Kelly Schweida – Stephanie Thornton

2nd – Baby Boomer – Tony Gollan – Matthew McGillivray

3rd – Stampe – Chris Munce – Sean Cormack

5.jpeg

Trainer – Kelly Schweida

“It’s the fittest I’ve had him first up, with his racing style he’s always a bit vulnerable out in front but Steph has a real affinity with the horse and rated him to perfection.”

“I’m hoping this might be his breakout campaign everything physically and mentally has come together; we’re going to find out how good a horse he is this time in.”

“It’d be great to add the 3YO Jewel to his 2YO win last year and he goes there in great shape off this.”

Jockey – Steph Thornton

“He’s just the most beautiful animal to ride, he’s so calm behind the gates but still springs them every time.”

“I tried to stack them up and give them the slip off the turn, he got a little bit tired late but it was a big effort first up.”

Race 7 - 4:23PM STAV, ABBY & MATT BENCHMARK 75 Handicap (1110 METRES)

1st – Wandabaa – Kris Lees – Andrew Mallyon

2nd – Adoradancer – Barry Lockwood – Dale Smith

3rd – Shamurt – Tony Gollan – Baylee Nothdurft

6.jpeg

Stable Foreman – Mel Eggleston

“Her work has been terrific her runs have been good, and I’ve never seen her as relaxed as she was today, that was a pretty good win that.”

“There was tempo in the race, but she was out wide doing work there were plenty who had their chance to beat her.”

“Andrew rides all of our horses in work, they form that relationship it’s a big plus when it comes to raceday.”

Jockey – Andrew Mallyon

“We were posted three wide with cover out of the barriers, so we did it the hard way I had to throw everything at her to get home.”

“Great trainer effort by Kris Lees, I thought her Eagle Farm run had taken a little bit of the shine off her, but she turned up here at the races today looking immaculate and ready to go.”

Race 8 - 5:02PM SKY RACING TATTERSALL'S MEMBERS' CUP (1600 METRES)

1st – Silvera – Tony Gollan – Baylee Nothdurft

2nd – Magnufighter – Gary Duncan – Dale Smith

3rd – Impasse – Matthew Dunn – Robbie Fradd

7.jpeg

Trainer – Tony Gollan

“It’s a huge thrill he started off here in the Recognition Stakes at the start of summer and got an eye ulcer which put him out for six weeks, it’s been a really disrupted prep and this is a great reward.”

“When the barriers came out on Wednesday, I thought he might be another hard luck story but when Baylee exposed him, he knuckled down late and did it soft in the end.”

“If you ever draw a gate around here at the mile you can be three pairs back one off, but if you’re posted wide with his racing style you really need to take him back.”

“He saved plenty in the run and I knew Baylee had plenty of horse under him in straight.”

Jockey – Baylee Nothdurft

“I’ve had plenty of chances on him, so to step up and win a Stakes race with him is a good time to get started.”

“He’s been plagued by bad gates this prep we got a pretty good run, we were tracking up from the 600 I just had to get off Impasses heals and picked up nicely after a flat spot at the top of the straight.”

Race 9 - 5:40PM STELLA ARTOIS Class 6 Handicap (1350 METRES)

1st - Femme Fireball - Robert heathcote - adin thompson

2nd - Mr Bellagio - Toby & Trent Edmonds - Ron Stewart

3rd - Bold Warrior - Gary Doughty - Michael Hellyer

8.jpeg

Trainer - Robert Heathcote

"She's been very consistent this campaign without winning, she loves Doomben this is where she dominated as a four-year-old and maybe this can re-ignite another run."

"We were drawn off the track last start and never got in covered far too much ground at Eagle Farm."

"Adin was able to get her some cover midfield from a decent gate and get her out at the right time, she looked like her old self."

Jockey - Adin Thompson

"It was my first time riding her, Mr. heathcote said just try to give her some cover and produce her late."

"She got to them pretty quickly and really finished it off up the shorter straight, she's got a nice sprint."
