Racing Queensland has announced the greyhound code will be the latest to introduce mandatory temperature testing from tomorrow night at Albion Park.
With thoroughbreds having commenced temperature testing at the Brisbane Racing Club last week before rolling it out across its major TAB clubs, the harness code will also commence this week across its three venues.
Temperature testing for greyhound participants will commence in the South East Queensland region before following into the remaining regions.
Upon entering each racecourse, permitted on-course personnel – click here to see those eligible to attend greyhound racing meetings – must immediately undergo a temperature check with those displaying a temperature of 37.5 or above will not be permitted to enter and/or compete.
Anyone experiencing an elevated temperature will be given the opportunity to have a secondary temperature test up to 15 minutes following the first assessment, but if the person’s temperature remains elevated, they shall be required to leave the venue and are advised to seek medical advice through 13HEALTH.
For participants who fail a temperature test, a medical clearance to the satisfaction of the Queensland Racing Integrity Commission may be required before attending a race meeting again.
