RQ announces revised thoroughbred protocols

Racing Queensland will introduce new thoroughbred protocols from today.

Following further consultation with the office of Queensland’s Chief Health Officer Dr Jeannette Young, RQ will now permit licensed participants to attend alternate venues within their region for feature race gallops, official trials and jump outs.

Previously, this had been limited to race days only. The new protocols are:

Greater South East Region

• Trainers and stable staff based at training locations are restricted to working at their designated club for trackwork, with allowance to attend alternate venues for feature race gallops, jump outs or official trials within the designated region; and
• Jockeys are required to nominate their primary designated club for trackwork, with allowance to attend alternate venues in their region for feature race gallops, trackwork, trials and jump outs.

Central & North Coast Region & Greater Western Region

• Trainers and stable staff based at regional training locations are restricted to working at their primary designated club venue for trackwork, with allowance to attend alternate local venues in their designated region for special gallops, official trials and jump outs; and
• Jockeys are required to nominate their primary designated club for trackwork, with allowance to attend alternate local venues for trackwork, trials and jump outs.
