RACE TWO
AVEROSS DON (1) started from the 40m tape over the 2138m here 3 starts back and was attacking the line strongly in the closing stages to get within a nose. Working in the run at his next start for another 2nd, he wasn’t too far away behind THE REAPER last start. Off the front he gets every chance DOWN UNDER RORS (5) started from the 50m tape last start over the 2138m when safely into stride and quickly caught the field. Settled in the running line, it was a tidy effort to be within 10m of the winner. Not much went right the start prior, if he steps cleanly, he can be an improver in this. JANSSON (6) showed his customary manners last start off the front tape and was soon setting the tempo. Leading them deep into the stretch over the 2138m, he was nabbed right on the line. Up to the 2647m doesn’t look a concern and he can challenge. ROSEHILL MAGIC (9) has he 30m tape to negotiate, however she has been meeting the stronger square gaiters in 4 starts since returning from a break. Not too far away behind GARLAND GREENE last start, she is in the mix. SELECTIONS: AVEROSS DON (1), DOWN UNDER RORS (5), JANSSON (6), ROSEHILL MAGIC (9) SUGGESTED BET: AVEROSS DON (1) to win
RACE THREE
MY ULTIMATE CLIPPA (2) was making his debut here last week from gate 4 when unable to find early position. Stuck out on a limb and forced to retreat to the rear of the pack, when he then made his run from the 300m, he was really attacking the line to be 1m in arrears of the winner. With the experience of that outing, he can arrive in this. LILLIES (3) has placed in 3 of her career starts to date, the latest when gunned down late by the subsequent winner FRONTLINER. Leading them up 2 starts back it was WHATTA GOOD REASON that was able to get the better of her. From the good gate she can again be right in the fight. TEE RAVELLING (1) will take great benefit from his debut when sitting in the pocket trail and using the passing lane to hold the silver behind CHAMONIX. With the good alley, he can feature. ROYAL PRINCESS (8) didn’t have the clearest passage last start behind CHAMONIX when looking for open space. Buried in the run 2 starts back, she will be searching for space.
SELECTIONS: MY ULTIMATE CLIPPA (2), LILLIES (2), TEE RAVELLING (1), ROYAL PRINCESS (8) SUGGESTED BET: MY ULTIMATE CLIPPA (2) to win
RACE FOUR JAMAICAN RESORT (6) heads back to Qld for a Winter campaign, having success here last season, including victory here at The Creek. Closing in good order at Menangle when 3rd to the subsequent winner JUST TOOTSIE, he was again hitting the line strongly las start. He strikes the right contest. ITS SUPER EASY (8) was 1st up since featuring in a stable switch when lining up for the Donny Smith barn here on Friday. Settling in the 1x1 trail over the mile from a 2nd line gate, it was an encouraging return after no public trials in readiness for the return. With a slice of luck, he can challenge in this. A ROCKNROLL LEGACY (5) was wide off the track trying to work into the contest last start from the 2nd line when 4.5m in arrears of the winner. Able to work in the run if needed, he has podium claims. PATCHWORK JET (9) wasn’t suited last start when forced to do it the tough way in the breeze over the Redcliffe sprint trip. With an easy run through from the 2nd line, he can be looking to chime in.
SELECTIONS: JAMAICAN RESORT (6), ITS SUPER EASY (8), A ROCKNROLL LEGACY (5), PATCHWORK JET (9) SUGGESTED BET: JAMAICAN RESORT (6) to win
RACE FIVE
COPPERFIELD (9) is a 3YO gelding having his 1st start in Aus for Ian Gurney and arrives with some handy figures from NZ. With 2 wins and 3 minors in 9 outings, he has been sharpened in 2 trials, the latest when doing it easily out in front in a smart hit-out. He finds the right race 1st up. PHIL BROMAC (5) is part of the Rickie Alchin travelling team, arriving with a last start defeat over the Menangle mile when sent to the post as fav. Working outside the leader, he couldn’t finish them off in fading in the latter stages. 3rd when leading 2 starts back, he can get forward to challenge here. BLUE SHARD (2) was a red figure fav last start from gate 1 and looked to have it in the bag when collared on the wire by TINKA TERROR. Runner-up in 3 in succession, he won’t be far away. HUGHIES SISTER (8) will need a rub of the green from this gate. Closing nicely last start when 3rd to HAVING THE FAITH, if she can find space with track to work with, she is a podium player.
SELECTIONS: COPPERFIELD (9), PHIL BROMAC (5), BLUE SHARD (2), HUGHIES SISTER (8) SUGGESTED BET: COPPERFIELD (9) to win
RACE SIX VIRGIL (1) was a trifle disappointing in his 1st 2 runs back following an NSW Derby campaign, gunned down 1st up and then 9m from the winner TIZ A SIZZLER when 2nd up after racing in the pocket trail. Freshened, he was forced to do all the work in a 52.5 mile, fading under the pressure. This looks his chance to turn his fortunes around. BLACKWHITEANDBLUE (8) will strip fitter from his latest outing when 1st up from a break and having his 1st start since joining the Rickie Alchin barn. Unable to go with them in a 55.1 last half, he looks set to get the perfect run in transit and can be ready to take the snipers shot. VIENNA BOY (5) was 1st up in Qld for Charlie Cini on Friday and met with plenty of market support. After an early look for the front that didn’t bear fruit, he finished 6m from GOOD AS IT GETS. Fitter for the run, he can feature. BLACKJACK BART (7) does not receive any favours from the wide gate, yet he is racing well and last start was only a half-head from the winner DATTITUDE in strong time. With even luck in transit, he has claims.
SELECTIONS: VIRGIL (1), BLACKWHITEANDBLUE (8), VIENNA BOY (5), BLACKJACK BART (7) SUGGESTED BET: VIRGIL (1) to win
RACE SEVEN
MAYWYNS BEST (7) is in the zone, with 3 wins and finishing runner-up twice in his past 5 attempts. From gate 10 last start, he was packing too many bullets in claiming an 8m victory over the 2138m trip. Only beaten a head in a strong run here 3 starts back, he has the arsenal to overcome the gate. CASINO TOMMY (4) was buried away from inside the 2nd line last start when having his 1st run since returning to Qld. Away from the pegs, he was chasing hard to grab the silver behind MAYWYNS BEST. The return to the front line is a big plus and if he can fire the 1st shot, can challenge here. KETUT (6) is best saved for a swooping shot and will be needing a slice of luck to find position from this gate. Finishing over the top here 4 starts back, he can be chiming in off the pace. SABRAGE (9) was locked away on the pegs here 2 starts back and when finding clear space, charged home to claim victory over MAYWYNS BEST. Not suited by gate 7 last start, he can feature.
SELECTIONS: MAYWYNS BEST (7), CASINO TOMMY (4), KETUT (6), SABRAGE (9) SUGGESTED BET:
RACE EIGHT ANOTHER STATEMENT (4) was returning from a freshen here last week when caught up in a scrimmage and breaking gait. Looking for short-cuts thereafter, he was luckless in finding a clear passage to be mid-field behind HAVING THE FAITH. Taking fitness out of the disappointment, he can settle handy to atone here. GOLIGHTLY (10) took on a heat and final series at Redcliffe at his past 2 starts, forced to cover plenty of the triangle in the final when wide out and trailing them in under the tough run. 2m in arrears of victory here 3 starts back from the 2nd line, with a strong tempo likely, he can be attacking late. OUR FRIEND (2) made the most of conditions here 2 starts back to pounce on the pegs from gate 3, taking control in powering home to a big victory. Not suited when forced to do it tough last start, he can look to dictate. BETTERTHANDIAMONDS (6) speared out from this gate last start and was able to drop into the pocket trail. Losing momentum at the turn when the leader wilted, she charged home once into the clear. She can throw it down again here.
SELECTIONS: ANOTHER STATEMENT (4), GOLIGHTLY (10), OUR FRIEND (2), BETTERTHANDIAMONDS (6) SUGGESTED BET: ANOTHER STATEMENT (4) to win
RACE NINE STOMPEM (6) retreated from gate 6 last start to look for some short-cuts up the pegs. Closing in good order to be 9m in arrears of the winner, it had followed a similar trip from gate 6 over the 2138m when snagging back early. He has not been too far away of late and can capitalise in this. JOHNNY WHITE (1) worked home nicely last start after settling in the running line to be 5m from the winner SPEECH IS SILVER. Beaten by gate 7 the start prior when retreating as ULTIMATE AD set it up on the pace, he will have the chance to settle on the speed here and looks hard to stop. SPARKLING CULLECT (2) gets into this race nicely and has not been too far away in 3 runs back from a spell. Hitting the line strongly last start from the 2nd line behind TENNYSON BROMAC, he cannot be discounted here. OUTLAW FELLA (5) is never far from the action in these races, finishing in the money at 3 of his past 4 in similar company. Doing it the tough way last start when sent forward, he will be in the mix again.
SELECTIONS: STOMPEM (6), JOHNNY WHITE (1), SPARKLING CULLECT (2), OUTLAW FELLA (5) SUGGESTED BET:
RACE TEN PELOSI (5) was back with a bang last start when resuming from a break. Settling in the running line from gate 3 over the mile, she was given plenty of time and asked to sprint at the top of the home stretch, she let down powerfully to sweep home to score. The classy filly can go back-to-back. B MAC C (1) eased from gate 5 last start to find position and really caught the eye when charging home to grab the bronze behind PELOSI. 5m in arrears the start prior, this is the best gate he has encountered for some time which avail the options. With the inside line, he can feature. FOND MEMORIES (3) will be 1st up off a freshen with close to 6 weeks since her last start when claiming the 3YO Fillies Triad. Beaten a head the start prior, she will be right in the thick of it here. THATS HOW WEROLL (2) didn’t have much go his way last start when down the line behind PELOSI after retreating from gate 6 to find position. Settling closer to the action in this, he can be sharper.
SELECTIONS: PELOSI (5), B MAC C (1), FOND MEMORIES (3), THATS HOW WEROLL (2) SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 5 / 1-2-3-9
