RACE TWO
BILLBOARD BONNIE (1) eased from gate 6 last start to find the running line and when asked for the effort was able to reel them in and pull clear to a 5m victory. Arriving for a smart win here 3 starts back, she has a solid record on this track with 4 wins and 2 minors and looks set to get the perfect trip to make the closing shot a winner. KOTARE ELITE (3) is knocking on the door, it just seems that he hinges won’t budge as she has placed at her past 7 in succession. Grabbed by a flying TACT BESS up the passing lane last start when 2nd, she was 1m away 2 starts back as OUR DELIGHT made the closing shot a winner. Can she hold on? ARK ME (7) settled in the running line from a 2nd line gate last start when finishing in 4th behind TACT BESS. Unable to find position the start prior and forced to retreat, she will be buried here but can follow the pegs to the podium. WEEKS END (5) arrives in Qld for NSW trainer Jarrod Alchin, arriving with some tidy form in Sydney. Not too far away last start when 9m from DELIGHTFUL TARA over the Menangle mile, if she can handle the triangle, she will be in the fight. SELECTIONS: BILLBOARD BONNIE (1), KOTARE ELITE (3), ARK ME (7), WEEKS END (5) SUGGESTED BET: BILLBOARD BONNIE (1) to win
RACE THREE
After 12 starts since returning from a break, a win was proving elusive for COMMODORE JUJON (2) but it was not through lack of effort after some tidy performances. Capitalising last start with the ace gate, he was able to take them all the way to claim a deserved win. With the good gate he can repeat. JILLIBY GIZMO (1) backs up from Thursday where he looked to be some chance. 2 starts back he was in for the fight in a 2nd division qualifier when rolling the sleeves to face the breeze, finishing 5m from the winner HEZA BROMAC. Close up behind WILL THE WIZARD 3 starts back, he can make the most of this alley. ROGER THAT (3) was beaten by the barrier last start when retreating from gate 7 over the AP mile. Taking the pocket trail over the 2138m 2 starts back, he descended late to defeat STREET APPEAL and has podium hopes here. CONVAIR HUSTLER (7) was snagged back from gate 7 last start and settling a long way back in the pack was facing a task as AT WEST POINT scored in a sizzling sub 52 mile. If the 1 looks for an all the way effort, he will be there ready to strike.
SELECTIONS: COMMODORE JUJON (2), JILLIBY GIZMO (1), ROGER THAT (3), CONVAIR HUSTLER (7) SUGGESTED BET:
RACE FOUR NORTHERN MUSCLE (10) has been in great touch and was shooting for a hat-trick last start from the 20m tape. Settling back in the pack, he was hitting the line strongly in the closing stages to get within 2m of the winner. Pressing ahead to take control from the 10m tape 2 starts back, he charged home the start prior to score. With a great record on the tighter tracks, he can take this. MAJESTIC SIMON (5) didn’t get the start right from gate 7 last start and was sent to the pegs looking for the short-cuts over the mobile 2138m. Big in defeat the start prior, he will be having his 1st look at this track and if able to get away safely to settle at the pointy end, will make it tough for the chasers. SIR FAHRENHEIT (6) will get to race over his ‘home’ surface for the 1st time at his 8th start in Aus. Settling in the pocket trail last week, he made the closing shot a winner up the passing lane and despite moving back to the 10m tape, can feature here. OUR OVERANOVA (11) keeps on keeping on and his record here shows 6 wins and 3 minors from his 9 outings. Closing strongly last start, he was only beaten a neck 2 starts back and can never be discounted.
SELECTIONS: NORTHERN MUSCLE (10), MAJESTIC SIMON (5), SIR FAHRENHEIT (6), OUR OVERANOVA (11) SUGGESTED BET: NORTHERN MUSCLE (10) to win
RACE FIVE BRIDGET BLUE CHIP (5) will be having her 1st look at the Peninsula Paceway as she looks to continue her solid form of late. A winner in mares company 5 starts back when closing out strongly to take a 2m victory, she has placed in all 4 starts since that win, the past 2 when beaten a head on each occasion behind SIR JULIAN and SPEECH IS SILVER. The gate stings, but she looms. OUR LITTLE DIGGER (7) has placed at his past 2 starts, the latest on Tuesday. Angled to the pegs over the AP mile, he was soon buried 4 back against the pegs, with the gaps opening as they straightened, he charged home to be 1.5m in arrears. Relying on some luck from this gate, he will be looking for the lane. SAM IS PERFECTION (4) tried to capitalise on SPEECH IS SILVER being locked away last start and swooping hard down the outside, looked to land the upset, only to be nabbed right on the wire. Another having his 1st look at this track, he can feature. KURAHAUPO GAMBLER (1) set the tempo over the 2138m last start from gate 3 and led them deep into the stretch, nabbed in the closing stages. From the gate he can look to fight them off.
SELECTIONS: BRIDGET BLUE CHIP (5), OUR LITTLE DIGGER (7), SAM IS PERFECTION (4), KURAHAUPO GAMBLER (1)
RACE SIX After 3 heats were held for this G1 Final it was MANILA PLAYBOY (7) who was by far the most impressive of the heat winners. Easing back from gate 6, he was sent to the breeze and put away the leader SWEET LOMBO in forging clear to a 6m victory. It was a dominant victory in a new 2YO track record and looks to have the class to overcome the gate. GLITTER STRIP (10) was given plenty of time to balance up from gate 6 prior to pressing ahead down the back to take control. Once out in front, he had bullets to fire in cruising home to claim a 5m victory. 3rd in the Breeders Classic Final 3 starts back, he will be there to throw down a challenge. NICKS PICK (8) is yet to find a race win, having placed in 4 of his 6 outings. Settling 3 back on the poles in the heat, he chased hard for the silver behind GLITTER STRIP. With the right early trail from this gate, he can be chiming in late. DYNAMIC DAN (6) has 2 wins in his career to date, with both victories coming on this surface. Finishing over the top to claim his heat, he has the ability to work in his races and with an even split of 5 off the front and 5 off the back, can look to take advantage of the front line gate.
SELECTIONS: MANILA PLAYBOY (7), GLITTER STRIP (10), NICKS PICK (8), DYNAMIC DAN (6) SUGGESTED BET: MANILA PLAYBOY (7) to win
RACE SEVEN LIFES A JUNGLE (3) is getting closer to an overdue win after his last success back in January. 4 starts back he attacked the line strongly when 3m in arrears of MAJOR GENERALJUJON. From tough gates at his next 2, he was game in chasing the impressive ROLL WITH LACHLAN last start and can arrive. BURMACH (2) has been the bridesmaid at 7 of his past 10 as he continues to go close. Doing it the tough way when facing the breeze over the 1780m here 2 starts back, he was within a half-neck of the win. He might be forced into the tough stuff again but will be in the fight. BANGKOK BRAVADO (1) resumes from a spell and has not been to the public trials to prepare. Claiming a 2nd division qualifier 2 starts back when leading throughout, his record on this track shows 3 wins in 5 starts and he can challenge off the ace. LETTERKENNY BOY (8) has missed a cheque just once in 9 starts on the triangle, with that miss coming when starting fav and striking trouble in the run. He cannot be dismissed here.
SELECTIONS: LIFES A JUNGLE (3), BURMACH (2), BANGKOK BRAVADO (1), LETTERKENNY BOY (8) SUGGESTED BET: LIFES A JUNGLE (3) to win
RACE EIGHT In a race where the start will be congested with plenty of horses, combined with the tight turning Triangle, the start will be all important. Landing the coveted inside alley DREAM TO SHARE (1) made his debut from the tapes in the Flashing Red, which will be a strong form reference for this. Stepping cleanly to land in the pocket trail, his chances were cruelled when a wilting leader stole his momentum and any chance. Attacking the line with gusto 2 starts back, Team Graham can strike. TENNYSON BROMAC (12) was too strong in the Flashing Red, rolling to set up outside the leader and after grafting away then held off COLT THIRTY ONE to score. Too strong again last start over the mobile 2138m, this will be his 1st look at the track, but he has the class to throw down the challenge. CLINTAL DO (11) will be out to equal the deeds of Hexus currently the only horse to have secured successive Redcliffe Gold Cups. Too far back last start with all the tempo up front, he made a closing play 2 starts back when 1m in arrears of GLENFERRIE HOOD. With a superb Redcliffe record, he is in the mix. There are plenty that can chime in here with FAME ASSURED (2) returning from a successful Sydney campaign to have her 1st attempt from the tapes, while NORTHVIEW HUSTLER (9) was impressive 1st up last week, SOLE AMBITION (8) is racing well was only a head away last start and WATCH PULP FICTION (10) was a close up 3rd in the Flashing Red.
SELECTIONS: DREAM TO SHARE (1), TENNYSON BROMAC (12), CLINTAL DO (11), FAME ASSURED (2) SUGGESTED BET:
RACE NINE WITH THE BAND (4) has been a revelation since arriving in Aus and will look to make it 10 wins in 14 starts since arriving from the Shaky Isles. Grabbed up the passing lane 2 starts back by SAINT KILDA BEACH, she turned the tables last start over the 2138m with a slippery 27 flat closer in front. This looks within her grasp. SAINT KILDA BEACH (5) is in nice touch, finishing in the money at her past 3 starts. Toiling away outside the leader over the 2138m 3 starts back, she was only 2m from the winner. Making the closing shot a winner up the passing lane at her next start, she was within 4m of WITH THE BAND last time and has a nice record on this track. HARPAGUS (7) is without a success in the past 12 months, but her recent efforts suggest a win is not too far away when conditions suit. Likely to be buried here, she will be probing for the openings. CHINOOK WINDS (1) held the pocket trail from gate 1 last start and was not too far away from them. With the benefit of the ace gate again here, she will get the right trip to make a play for the exotics.
SELECTIONS: WITH THE BAND (4), SAINT KILDA BEACH (5), HARPAGUS (7), CHINOOK WINDS (1) SUGGESTED BET: WITH THE BAND (4) to win
RACE TEN After appearing not to be at all comfortable on the Redcliffe track last start, JUSTA LITTLE BIT (8) holds faint hope of a start in the Final as the emergency. Arriving in Qld with some big wraps, he was a debut winner before a close 2nd in the Breeders Final. With the experience of seeing the triangle, he can bounce back. DATSINAHURRI (2) rolled forward from gate 4 in her heat and was forced to roll the sleeves and do it the hard way. Getting keen in the run, she beat herself and faded out of contention. Gunned down in front the start prior, she might find this easier and with added race experience can challenge. JOY TO ALL (4) secured the pocket trail here on debut when 8m from the winner. Fighting hard in her heat behind GLITTER STRIP, she can be in the mix.
SELECTIONS: JUSTA LITTLE BIT (8), DATSINAHURRI (2), JOY TO ALL (4) SUGGESTED BET: JUSTA LITTLE BIT (8) to win
