Racing Queensland has confirmed that minimum riding weights for all TAB and non-TAB meetings across the state will return to pre COVID-19 levels from August 8.
Earlier this year, RQ temporarily raised minimum weights for all races (excluding black-type) by one kilogram during the COVID-19 pandemic.
RQ recently undertook consultation with stakeholders including the QJA, ATA and QTA, with feedback provided in relation to the timing of reinstatement and the availability of facilities such as spas and saunas under the Queensland Government’s roadmap to easing restrictions.
Following the recent move to stage three restrictions - and the recommissioning of spas on-course (where available) - RQ has determined the return to 54kg minimum weight at all metropolitan and provincial TAB meetings will recommence as of Saturday, August 8, 2020.
Accordingly, all other country weight scales will concurrently reduce by a kilogram from that date.
