RACE TWO
LETS TORQUE A DEAL (4) is nearing a maiden breaking success and lines up with placings at her past 3 starts. Best of the chasers behind the easy winner SCOTCH EN ICE last start, it followed a 2nd when chasing home the smart CAPTAIN CRUSADER. Conditions look right for her to open the account. PRESS STATEMENT (9) made his debut last week when securing early position from gate 3 to settle in the 1x1 trail. Locked in the box off the back straight as the field made their moves, he could have finished closer with a cleaner passage to the line. He can challenge here with the added experience. CONTESSA JUJON (6) is a Grinfromeartoear filly on debut for Grant Dixon. Her 1st qualifying trial was a nice effort when scoring easily and the 2nd she was not asked for much. She should improve off this. NOT THE KINGSWOOD (3) was sent forward from a wide gate last start and was working in the run when fading late in smart time behind SCOTCH EN ICE. With added experience he is a podium hope. SELECTIONS: LETS TORQUE A DEAL (4), PRESS STATEMENT (9), CONTESSA JUJON (6), NOT THE KINGSWOOD (3) SUGGESTED BET: LETS TORQUE A DEAL (4) to win
RACE THREE
This shapes as a tricky trot race to line up with the mobile conditions. MATATOKI (10) was game here last start when forced to face the breeze after starting from a front tape. That was against the higher-grade trotters and he was strong to the line to grab 2nd. The gate stings but he can arrive. AVEROSS DON (3) capitalised last start when finishing over the top of them from a 10m tape to claim a smart win. Reward for effort from hie previous 3 starts that had seen him in the money at each, he finished strongly for the win over the 2138m last time out. His mobile record is a query. IM THE COMMANDO (11) does his best work when able to get up near the front and from the outside 2nd line might just be put into the contest early. A winner at 2 of his past 3 when finding the front in those, he can’t be dismissed. ROSEHILL MAGIC (4) may have some ordinary numbers but that is not telling the full tale and the return to the mobile conditions is certainly a plus. Her run 3 back off 30m had merit and she can place.
SELECTIONS: MATATOKI (10), AVEROSS DON (3), IM THE COMMANDO (11), ROSEHILL MAGIC (4) SUGGESTED BET: MATATOKI (10) each-way
RACE FOUR COBBLER LANE (5) has been runner-up at his past 2 appearances at Redcliffe, the latest when using the passing lane to get within a neck of the winner BETTOR SPORT. Grinding it out in the breeze 2 starts back over the 1780m, he might need to work here but in an open contest is worth the chance. MAJOR LUCKY (2) started from inside the 2nd line here on Friday and was soon locked away 3 back. Keen in the run through a steady opening half, he was sound to the line as the leader and winner TORQUE ONETWOTHREE kicked clear to win. He can have a dip for the lamp lighting duties which brings him into contention. PHIL BROMAC (8) went straight to the front last start from gate 2 over the mile but couldn’t hold off the challengers when 3.5m in arrears. A passing lane winner 2 starts back, he looms as a place hope. LANCELOT BROMAC (3) was finding the line nicely here 2 starts back to grab the bronze over the mile. A long way back in the pack last start, he was closing nicely behind JIVE. He can chime in here.
SELECTIONS: COBBLER LANE (5), MAJOR LUCKY (2), PHIL BROMAC (8), LANCELOT BROMAC (3) SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 2-3-5-8
RACE FIVE
Early speed, position and the ensuing tempo will go a long way to finding the winner of this contest. With slick early moves, OUR FRIEND (3) can look to hustle for the dictating duties. Eased from gate 9 last start, he was finding the line strongly behind JIVE. The breeze was not the place to be the start prior as AT WEST POINT dominated but finding the front here can look to fight them off. JIVE (8) is undefeated in 3 attempts since arriving in Aus with wins at both the sprint and middle distances. Rolling forward from gate 6 last time out, she secured cover before finishing over the top in taking the win, running a slick closing panel. Relying on plenty of luck here, if the gaps arrive, she can take this. WICKED AZZ (2) was a winner here 3 starts back when working across to find the front and once in control was able to take them all the way to score. Not too far away over the less preferred 2138m the past 2 starts, back to the mile suits here. FEEL LIKE DANCIN (6) will take great benefit from her latest start when 2nd up from a break. Holding the front from gate 1 over the 2138m, she ran a career PB rate in leading throughout. Look for her late.
SELECTIONS: OUR FRIEND (3), JIVE (8), WICKED AZZ (2), FEEL LIKE DANCIN (6) SUGGESTED BET: OUR FRIEND (3) to win
RACE SIX DINA BOLT (7) steps out in Aus for the 1st time for Darren Weeks and will be 1st up since March without a public trial since arriving. With 3 wins and 6 placings in his 12 career starts, his latest run was at Addington back in March behind the gun 3YO COPY THAT when beaten 6m. His class will take him a long way in this. MAJOR MUCHA (8) was buried in the run last start from this same gate over this trip. With the field broken up, he spotted space to charge hard and arrive for a tidy victory. He should settle a little closer this time and with the economical trip will be ready to make a closing play when the gaps open. GOTTA MOMENT (11) didn’t have the smoothest passage last start at Redcliffe and after finding running line position from a wide gate was always facing a task against the tempo. With a cart into the contest he can finish strongly. DOUBLE OR NOTHING (6) rolled forward from gate 5 here last week to position outside the leader. Grinding it out, he was too strong in claiming victory at the mile. Despite the gate he is in the mix.
SELECTIONS: DINA BOLT (7), MAJOR MUCHA (8), GOTTA MOMENT (11), DOUBLE OR NOTHING (6) SUGGESTED BET:
RACE SEVEN
MUCH BETTOR (1) has placed in 2 of his past 3 starts, closing strongly at Redcliffe when wide off the track 3 starts back. His run here last time out was a real get on me next time effort after doing plenty of work in the run form gate 10 and looming strongly to get within a head of victory. He gets every chance off the ace here. HAVANA MOON (10) is racing well at present and last start was charging home in the closing stages when 3rd to CHANTREY over the 2138m. 4m from the winner GODDESS JUJON here 2 starts back, he claimed victory 4 runs back over this trip when charging home to score. With even luck in transit, look for him swooping. OUTLAW FELLA (11) is never far from the action in these types of races and despite the tough gate, might look to inject into the contest early. Angled to the pegs at his past 2 starts, he was tough in the breeze here 3 starts back. Looms as a place chance. LEXUS ON THE BEACH (8) looks set for an economic trip which will allow him to look to chime in late. Runner-up 3 starts back when leading them up and nabbed in the closing stages, he will be probing.
SELECTIONS: MUCH BETTOR (1), HAVANA MOON (10), OUTLAW FELLA (11), LEXUS ON THE BEACH (8) SUGGESTED BET: MUCH BETTOR (1) to win
RACE EIGHT SECRETAGENT TYCOON (10) returned from a spell in great order, finishing over the top of them in the closing stages over the 2138m trip. Taking great benefit from the run, his 1st since February, there looks good front line tempo here which can see him ready to power home for a repeat win. MIDNIGHT MAN (3) backs up from Saturday night where he started from gate 2 and fired early bullets. Closing out in good order here 3 starts back when 3rd to SECRETAGENT TYCOON, he did not have the cleanest passage at his next outing. From the good gate he will be in the fight here. CASINO TOMMY (2) rolled forward from gate 5 last start over the 2138m and was working hard in the run when just fading the closing stages in a slick 2138m trip. Back to the mile from this alley, he is in the mix. COLONEL JOY (1) will strip fitter from his latest start when returning from a break. Releasing the speed after finding the pegs early, he held on late for a mid-field finish to MYMATEPOG. With a similar trip he is a podium player.
SELECTIONS: SECRETAGENT TYCOON (10), MIDNIGHT MAN (3), CASINO TOMMY (2), COLONEL JOY (1) SUGGESTED BET: SECRETAGENT TYCOON (10) to win
RACE NINE MAJOR FERNCO (4) lines up for his 1st start in Qld, arriving with 2 starts to his name back in the Shaky Isles. A last start 2nd over the mile at Winton, he has been to the trials in preparation where he caught the eye in good time against far more experienced campaigners. He can look for a winning start. THE RAGNBONE MAN (3) has been runner-up at his past 2 starts, the most recent when only a half-neck in arrears of the winner. That was over his less preferred 2138m trip when working home wide off the track. Grabbed in the closing strides here 2 starts back when setting the tempo, he will be gripping on. BLUE SHARD (9) has been super consistent and despite not placing in his past 2 starts, has not been too far from the winner, JIVE on each occasion. Closing nicely for the bronze behind subsequent winner COPPERFIELD 3 starts back, he can chime in late here. MORESCO (5) was a Redcliffe winner 4 starts back when leading throughout and scoring an easy 14m victory. Placed in all 3 starts since that win, early position will be key to her chances of earning a cheque here.
SELECTIONS: MAJOR FERNCO (4), THE RAGNBONE MAN (3), BLUE SHARD (9), MORESCO (5) SUGGESTED BET:
