RACE TWO
THE HERVEY BAY (5) will strip fitter from his return to the track when 1st up from a spell. Sent forward to get outside the leader from gate 5 over the sprint trip, he was grinding hard and was giving all the way when 2nd to AMILLION PROMISES. He will press forward to put the heat on here. LIFES BLACK (4) was rifled off the arm over the sprint trip here last week and once in control was never in danger, claiming victory by 3m. Running some tidy closing splits in victory, his run 2 starts back was a nice effort when wide out and in this contest can make a strong play. IDEAL TIGER (1) was sent to the post as fav from gate 1 over the AP 2138m last start but a gear issue proved costly to end his chances. Tough when parked 2 starts back, he is in the mix here. ROCKNROLL DA GAMA (3) was taken to Tamworth last start when eased from a wide gate for some luck but could not match it with them. With even luck from this gate, he is a place hope. SELECTIONS: THE HERVEY BAY (5), LIFES BLACK (4), IDEAL TIGER (1), ROCKNROLL DA GAMA (3) SUGGESTED BET: THE HERVEY BAY (5) to win
RACE THREE Not much has really gone her way this campaign but this shapes as the chance for MACH TORQUE (1) to turn it around. Looking to take them all the way last start over this trip, she was gunned down in the latter stages. With the good gate once again, she gets another chance. LADY SWISS (4) has had the lone start in Qld which came back in April when settling back in the pack. Given a break, she has been to the trials to prepare where she was able to put in a smart hit out. The gate is not ideal, but she can look to challenge. BLISSFULDAY (2) tried to make the most of his early speed but was soon shuffled back along the inside as AMILLION PROMISES took control in front. In this line-up he has podium claims. NIKALONG HENRY (7) is yet to find a win this season but should appreciate the run he will receive in transit here. Tackling a much stronger AP mile last time, he will be in behind and searching. SELECTIONS: MACH TORQUE (1), LADY SWISS (4), BLISSFULDAY (2), NIKALONG HENRY (7) SUGGESTED BET: MACH TORQUE (1) to win
RACE FOUR This is a tricky affair made no easier by the 2040m trip that looks set to sort some of these out. Working home in nice order last start, CAPTAIN THUNDERBOLT (9) was 3m in arrears of the winner. 2nd to JAY DE BE ROLLIN 3 starts back, with an even slice of luck, he gets a chance to cash-in. MAJOR LUCKY (7) will need a slice of luck at some stage from this gate, but if he finds the gaps with track to work with, can throw it down. Runner-up to DON HESTON here 2 starts back when working home strongly from the rear, he pressed forward last time and can make his presence felt here. ATOMIC PETE (6) has the wide gate because of his own manners following an error at the start here last time. Game in fighting on for the silver here 2 starts back, he can feature. ARCHILLES (4) has featured in a barn switch and lines up here for Chantal Turpin. Returning from a spell here 3 runs back when shuffled away, he stays under watch at his 1st run over this distance. SELECTIONS: CAPTAIN THUNDERBOLT (9), MAJOR LUCKY (7), ATOMIC PETE (6), ARCHILLES (4) SUGGESTED BET:
RACE FIVE TIMENPATIENCE (3) started from inside the 2nd line here 3 starts back and was away from the pegs early to work home in nice order when 6m in arrears of the winner. 8m from VANISH HANOVER at her next outing, she can settle close enough here to land a breakthrough. ONYAJANS (1) resumes from a spell and lands the ideal gate to her pattern 1st up. Making an early error last start from gate 4, she came in near the rear and the start prior was not aided by a wide gate. She will be probing for the openings here. OUR BUSCEMI (9) will strip fitter from his latest assignment when 2nd up from a spell. Finishing 5m from the winner FIRE ME UP, he has no favours from this alley but is a podium hope.
LIFEINHEAVEN (7) eased to the running line from gate 3 last start and was sound to the line when midfield to subsequent winner SIR BULSKI. Saved for a closing shot, she will be probing. SELECTIONS: TIMENPATIENCE (3), ONYAJANS (1), OUR BUSCEMI (9), LIFEINHEAVEN (7) SUGGESTED BET:
RACE SIX It has been a while since her last victory, but GWENDALION (8) might just have found the right conditions to change that here. The tempo was against her last start, and she could not get into the battle. Closing out smartly to grab 3rd here 3 runs back, with the early trail she can arrive. BEEF CITY STARZZZ (7) will be sweating on the 1 looking to dictate and if that scenario should eventuate, will then be hoping to still have momentum when the passing lane arrives. Locked away last start at Marburg, the wide gate was his undoing the start prior. He can strike if the gap opens. LIVING FREE (1) was sent to the post as fav last start from the 2nd line but never got warm over the 2040m trip. Eased from a wide gate over this trip 3 starts back, he has the gate to take advantage. ALLY PINK (4) has been in nice touch in recent outings with a pair of wins and a pair of placings in her past 5 starts. Only 2m from the winner after hanging tough last start, she is in the mix again. SELECTIONS: GWENDALION (8), BEEF CITY STARZZZ (7), LIVING FREE (1), ALLY PINK (4) SUGGESTED BET: GWENDALION (8) to win
RACE SEVEN WAVEDANCER (4) found his race last start and overturned a win drought when pressing to the front, taking control and cruising home to an 11m victory. With the confidence of that win which had followed a close 2nd from this same gate, he can look for back-to-back success in an open event. FAMOUS SHOES (1) pressed ahead to take control from gate 3 last time out and from the front was able to get away with a steady opening half. Gunned down in the closing stages by DOWTOWN LUCCA, gate 6 was his undoing the start prior and with the options here can challenge. BARBOO (3) has hit the board in 3 of his past 4 starts, the latest when trying to take them all the way but fading in the closing stages. Settling handy to the action can see him feature once again. MANOFLISA (5) was soon hemmed away from gate 1 last time out over the AP mile and tailed the field in although was not too far from the winner. The gate stings but in this contest he can be sharper. SELECTIONS: WAVEDANCER (4), FAMOUS SHOES (1), BARBOO (3), MANOFLISA (5) SUGGESTED BET:
RACE EIGHT PATCHWORK JET (8) faces the 2nd line gate but saved for a closing challenge has shown to be effective in previous starts. A winner using that pattern here 5 runs back from gate 9, he was winding up late here 2 starts back when not too far from the winner. This looks ideal for him to arrive. AROONA (4) has started from the 2nd line at his past 2 starts, the latest when settling rearward and trying to chime in wide out as FORTYFIVE ROCK took the prize. Buried in the run the start prior, if he can secure position cheaply, this is the type of contest that will suit. GOODJET (2) changes stables and will line up for Aaron Smith in this contest 1st up from a spell. Down the line last start over the 1780m trip, she has not been seen at the trials but can be an improver. MARTHAS VINEYARD (5) has had 3 runs back from a long break and should take added fitness from her last run where the 2040m did not suit. The gates tings but she is a minor hope here. SELECTIONS: PATCHWORK JET (8), AROONA (4), GOODJET (2), MARTHAS VINEYARD (5) SUGGESTED BET:
RACE NINE
In a field full of horses chasing form, the last start winner ILLBEWATCHING (6) might have enough of an edge to defy the gate. Sent forward from gate 4 to take control last time out, once in front he was able to land a 2040m victory. He can get it done again here. REDDY FIRE (5) has a Marburg victory 4 starts back when working home wide off the track to claim the prize. 3rd in a Trot Rods scamper 2 starts back, he can press ahead to throw down the challenge from the wide gate against these opponents. WILD ABOUT TOWN (2) held on for 3rd in a 947m 2 runs back and then last start wilted after occupying the death seat. Firing some early bullets here can see him be thereabouts. A ROCKNROLL LEGACY (7) will need a slice of luck at some stage to find some open space from this gate. Working into the clear with track available can see him chime into the action. SELECTIONS: ILLBEWATCHING (6), REDDY FIRE (5), WILD ABOUT TOWN (2), A ROCKNROLL LEGACY (7) SUGGESTED BET: ILLBEWATCHING (6) to win
RACE TEN Another field chasing form and it could be up to HARRY CROFT (4) as the most recent winner in this line-up to make a play for the prize. That win was in March when he was able to finish over the top of them in the closing stages to score. Grabbing 3rd to MIDNIGHT QUEEN 2 starts back, he gets every chance. GLENCOE REIGN (8) took the pocket trail from the ace here 2 starts back when looming up but unable to stop the charge of WEASEL. The 2040m found him out last start and back to the sprint trip from this gate can see him challenge. FREMARKSINDI (2) was returning from a spell last time out over the sprint trip when wilting in the closing stages to be at the rear. Taking fitness from that run, she is a podium home from the gate. KISS THE AVIATOR (6) is still searching for a maiden breaking win following 63 attempts but has been in the money at 2 of his past 3 starts. Working home from this gate last start, he can chime in.
SELECTIONS: HARRY CROFT (4), GLENCOE REIGN (8), FREMARKSINDI (2), KISS THE AVIATOR (6) SUGGESTED BET: HARRY CROFT (4) to win
