RACE TWO
Heats for this final were held at Marburg back on May 23 where QUICK STEP (3) held on for the bronze behind SHEU CREEK after angling into the trail. Going on a streak since the heat that has seen her claim the past 3 in succession, she charged home from the pegs last time to arrive. Positioning close to the action, she can arrive. ONE LAST ROLL (1) chalked up another minor at The Creek on Tuesday when hitting the line smartly over the mile for the bronze behind MAGICOL IDEAL. Placed in all 7 starts since returning from a spell, he has early speed to call on which avails options and gets his chance to breakthrough. SIR BULSKI (7) is on the short back up tackling a race on Thursday where he looked a solid chance. With victories in 5 of his previous 6 starts, he will get the cosy trip to make a play here. ASHKII (9) claimed 2nd in his heat of this when chasing from the pocket trail behind the winner ROYAL PRINCESS. A winner at his next outing when defeating subsequent winner GINATIANO here over the 1780m, he can chime in late in this. SELECTIONS: QUICK STEP (3), ONE LAST ROLL (1), SIR BULSKI (7), ASHKII (9) SUGGESTED BET: QUICK STEP (3) to win
RACE THREE The first of the Showcase Heats where criteria for this race saw the contestants compete at one of the designated shows held over the past 3 months. The evergreen GHOST GUM (4) has the 10m tape here but will be quickly into stride here and if finding the front will give them plenty to chase down. MAGICOL IDEAL (8) comes into this off the back of an all the way win at headquarters on Tuesday over the mobile mile. He gains his ticket here with a win at the Boonah Show and from the 20m handicap can be quickly into the action to throw down the challenge. ARTFUL MAID (10) was shooting for a hat-trick of wins last start when tackling a strong mare’s event and finishing not too far from the winner SAUCY DREAMS. Her record here at The Triangle is strong and she will be chasing hard. COURAGEOUS LEO (6) was a winner here 4 starts back when angled back to the passing lane and finishing hard to arrive. A Nanango Show winner, he returned from a freshen last start and is in the mix here. SELECTIONS: GHOST GUM (4), MAGICOL IDEAL (8), ARTFUL MAID (10), COURAGEOUS LEO (6) SUGGESTED BET:
RACE FOUR Another tune up for the Redcliffe Cup with this race held under the same conditions. Although not showing any wins from the tapes or here at Redcliffe FAME ASSURED (6) should be able to settle in the right spot to make a play. Attacking the line in style in the Flashing Red 2 starts back, she was an open winner 3 back over the 2138m and can capitalise here. MAYWYNS BEST (5) rolled forward to have an early look for the front last start but was repelled and was able to limit the burn by sliding straight back into the single file line 3 back. Sent forward again at the bell, he was best of the rest behind the swooping CLINTAL DO. Although the longer trip is not really his forte, he can challenge again. LIFES BLACK (2) was asked to work hard in the run last start outside the leader over the 2040m and wilted late under the effort. A winner from the front the start prior, if he is up front early, he can give some cheek. CLINTAL DO (8) cruised up and put them away with ease last time out and despite this being a tougher contest, will need to overcome the 30m impost. He will be saved for the last shot and look for him swooping hard. SELECTIONS: FAME ASSURED (6), MAYWYNS BEST (5), LIFES BLACK (2), CLINTAL DO (8) SUGGESTED BET: FAME ASSURED (6) to win
RACE FIVE Yet to be seen outside of Albion Park since arriving in Qld, L L COOL J (8) will venture across Bramble Bay to the Peninsula for the first time as he looks for a further profile building victory. Powering home over the top of them last start at 2138m after angled away from the pegs early, it followed a pair of narrow 2nds while overcoming a foot issue. With some fight to call on, he can get into the battle if needed to prevail here. KENSINGTON BILL (1) takes his second look at The Triangle after chasing home in the standing start event claimed by CLINTAL DO last time out. A passing lane winner over the long trip at The Creek 3 starts back, he can tuck in here for the easy trip and hitting the passing lane with momentum will take his shot. FELLINGFORARAINBOW (2) stepped cleanly and had them rolling in the Flashing Red and was dead game in front in holding on for 3rd as KID MONTANA landed the winning blow. Tricky gates have hampered his recent chances and from this alley, he gets every chance to fight them off. GAME SET MAJOR (6) faces a tough task from the wide gate 1st up from a spell, but he has been given several trials to have him tuned up for the return. A last start Melton winner back in December, he is a quality type that can be joining in. SELECTIONS: L L COOL J (8), KENSINGTON BILL (1), FELLINGFORARAINBOW (2), GAME SET MAJOR (6) SUGGESTED BET: L L COOL J (8)
RACE SIX The 2nd of the Showcase Heats and while it will be a big ask for the backmarkers, they look to hold the edge. From the 30m ITS MR CLOONEY (9) who qualified with a win at the Toowoomba Show has been in good touch in recent starts. Putting together successive AP wins 3 runs back, he can progress through to the final on a winning note. OUR MAJOR DAY (10) will need to do everything right from the 40m tape to optimise his chances. He was safely away here last time out but could not go with them late as CLINTAL DO powered home to land the prize. Against this grade, if he steps cleanly, he will be able to throw down the challenge. BIG GEM MONTANA (6) has shown tremendous versatility this season and comes into this when not too far away behind the smart THE RACONTEUR. With good manners from the tapes, he is in the mix. CONDAFEW (8) was a winner here over the 2040m 2 starts back when using the passing lane to arrive over the closing stages. Kept fresh since that last appearance, he will not be far away. SELECTIONS: ITS MR CLOONEY (9), OUR MAJOR DAY (10), BIG GEM MONTANA (6), CONDAFEW (8) SUGGESTED BET: ITS MR CLOONEY (9) to win
RACE SEVEN The final of the 3YO Sales Series where the draw certainly makes it a little tougher for MANILA PLAYBOY (11), yet he should still be too classy for his opponents. Dealing in front to claim his heat for this Final when cruising home to an easy win, it followed his demolition of the Triad field. 4 from 4 here at the track, he can maintain the perfect record. JUSTA LITTLE BIT (1) will get every opportunity from the gate as the most likely candidate to spring the upset. Controlling the speed in front here 2 starts back when able to put them away with a 27.7 closing panel, he could not cope when sitting parked in the heat. He will be trying to stick on. DYNAMIC DAN (7) will get the economical trip and be ready to make a closing play when the gaps arrive late. Battling hard for the bronze last time, he will be the fresh horse on the scene. SHES MISS DEVINE (6) was runner-up to MANILA PLAYBOY in the 2YO edition of this race but has had a repeat thwarted by a tough gate for the 3YO renewal. Coming into this with 3 wins on the bounce, she can chime into the minor money. SELECTIONS: MANILA PLAYBOY (11), JUSTA LITTLE BIT (1), DYNAMIC DAN (7), SHES MISS DEVINE (6) SUGGESTED BET: Trifecta 11 / 1-2-6-7
RACE EIGHT The first of two heats for the 2YO Sales Series with the heats split into one for each sex. With the numbers light compared to previous years BORSELLINO (3) can strike in this heat for the boys. Sent straight to the front at The Creek when making his Qld debut last time out, he was never in danger in claiming an easy win from the front. With added experience from the outing, he can make the most of his chances here. IMA CHICK MAGNET (1) capitalised on his first appearance at this track at career start number 4 when leading all the way here last time out. Sent forward from gate 4, he controlled the tempo for an easy victory. He lands the options from this gate and can look for a safe progression to the Final. TEDDY DISCO (7) started his career here at Redcliffe with a victory when finishing over the top of them from the 2nd line. Chasing hard for 2nd to DANGERZONE 2nd up, he will be joining into the action here. O B LEGAL (4) showed early hustle last start in a strong Saturday night event but soon found himself 4 back in single file order. A winner when finishing strongly here 2 starts back, he is in the mix. SELECTIONS: BORSELLINO (3), IMA CHICK MAGNET (1), TEDDY DISCO (7) O B LEGAL (4) SUGGESTED BET: BORSELLINO (3) to win
RACE NINE
The second of the 2YO heats will see last start Breeders Classic Consolation winner ROSES ARE SWEET (1) tough to stop from the good gate. On debut in that consolation, she took the trail from gate 1 and cruised home to an easy victory. Kept fresh since that win, the gate is ideal for her to go 2 from 2. SHEZ NOTORIOUS (4) has been to the track on 5 occasions and although yet to hit the board, she has been in the contest with her speed out of the machine. Fading behind the older horses last start, she was no match for the start filly CAT KING COLE the start prior. Back to this grade gives her a chance to cash-in. RAMBLING ON (2) is the most experienced filly in the field with 8 career appearances. Landing her 1st placing last time out when sent to the front, she was trying to hold on when 6m in arrears of GOTTA GO MILKING. She can feature from this gate. EXPLANATION NOTED (3) made her debut in the same contest claimed by ROSES ARE SWEET when chasing hard to grab 3rd, albeit 25m from the winner. With the added race experience, she is a place hope. SELECTIONS: ROSES ARE SWEET (1), SHEZ NOTORIOUS (4), RAMBLING ON (2), EXPLANATION NOTED (3) SUGGESTED BET: ROSES ARE SWEET (1) to win
