RACE TWO
CATCH PHRASE (1) is a last start winner when sent forward from gate 5 to sit parked and grinding it out proved too strong. That run was back in January with the runner-up FIRE EYES returning a winner here last week. Given a quiet time in a recent trial, she lands all the options from the gate to cash-in. GIDUP CAPTAIN (7) returns from a spell to start his 3YO season, shutdown following a maiden breaking win over the AP mile when leading throughout. He has been given a long break and with some sound trial form lands the right gate for an economical return. SPECIAL MEANING (3) eased from gate 6 over the sprint trip last start and from deep back in the field was charging home in the closing stages to be within 1.5m of the winner. He can feature again. PIPPA MAGUIRE (2) was first up in Qld last start when having no luck and forced to retreat when no position was on offer. That was from gate 4 and with an improved alley can be an improver. SELECTIONS: CATCH PHRASE (1), GIDUP CAPTAIN (7), SPECIAL MEANING (3), PIPPA MAGUIRE (2) SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 1-2-3-7
RACE THREE SEELSTERS SONG (4) joins the stables of Graham Dwyer as a last start winner after scoring a Tamworth victory over the mile. Taking the trail from gate 1, she was able to find the space to sprint home over the top to claim the prize. That was an improvement on her previous attempts, and she strikes a winnable race first up. PAGEANTRY (1) eased from gate 5 last start and from back in the pack could not get going over the closing stages. He should take some benefit from the run which was his first in one month and with the benefit of the options from the gate can show the improvement to challenge. KOOKABURRAPRINCESS (6) settled in the running line from gate 9 here last start and was making a strong closing challenge to be 3m from the winner in grabbing the silver. The gate stings but she can join in. NAUGHTYINHEAVEN (7) angled to the pegs from gate 8 last start and was locked away and unable to make an impression as the race was controlled in front. With a soft trip, she is a place chance. SELECTIONS: SEELSTERS SONG (4), PAGEANTRY (1), KOOKABURRAPRINCESS (6), NAUGHTYINHEAVEN (7) SUGGESTED BET:
RACE FOUR SWEET LOMBO (5) backs up from Monday where he was taken back from ate 6 in the early stages to settle in a rearward position. Making some nice metres in the closing stages to be 5m in arrears of the winner, he should take benefit from the run after being kept fresh. The gate stings but he should have the edge. KARAOKE ROCK (7) was caught in gridlock from inside the 2nd line last start over the AP mile and never got a crack at them as DEVOUGED landed the prize. Using the passing lane to grab the bronze behind MONTANA FLASH 2 starts back, she will need some space at some stage but with open gaps can challenge in this field. THANKHEAVNFORGIRLS (2) started from inside the 2nd line last start and was soon buried in the run and was sound to the line under the circumstances. Settling closer she can chime into the minors. FAVREAU (4) was obliged to do it the tough way last start when sent forward early to get outside the leader. In for the fight in holding on for the bronze, he can feature again against this line-up. SELECTIONS: SWEET LOMBO (5), KARAOKE ROCK (7), THANKHEAVNFORGIRLS (2), FAVREAU (4) SUGGESTED BET: SWEET LOMBO (5) to win
RACE FIVE ARMA VEYRON (3) was first up in Qld when sent forward from gate 5 and asked to grind it out when sitting parked. IN for the fight she was too strong in pulling clear to claim the prize. Taking the trail from gate 1 over the AP mile last start and not too far from the winner DEVOUGED, she finds the right race to cash-in. COBBITY CASTLE (8) has hit the board in all 7 appearances here at the Peninsula, the latest when grafting out a smart win after sitting parked. Pressing ahead from gate 6, she was too strong in claiming an expanding 11m victory. Pressing through early she can look to throw it down. THE LAST DRAGON (9) has hit a purple patch with 3 successive wins followed with a 2nd last time out. Arriving over the top from gate 6 here 3 runs back, he can be chiming in late here. LIVING FREE (1) was a winner here 2 starts back when saved for the last shot and powering home over the top to an easy victory with 9m to spare. He can get the easy trip here and be ready to chime in. SELECTIONS: ARMA VEYRON (3), COBBITY CASTLE (8), THE LAST DRAGON (9), LIVING FREE (1) SUGGESTED BET: ARMA VEYRON (3) to win
RACE SIX MY ULTIMATE BONDI (6) was huge in defeat here last week when making an error out of the machine. Looking to have lost all chance, he caught the park and then at the 600m made a sustained chare to hit the front 3-wide off the track and was only collared late. The start is all important, but he can go one better. ALWAYS BOPPING (5) features in a stable switch to join the Dixon team. Buried in the run last start, it was tidy effort to be within 7m of the winner. Gunned down in a much stronger contest the start prior by CAPTAIN NEMO, he can overcome the wide gate to throw down the challenge here. JEWEL OF PEAK (1) fired off the arm from gate 4 but was forced to sit outside the leader and do it the tough way. In for the fight, she was able to cling on for a narrow win. The gate is a big help, but her record over the middle trip is of concern. FIRE EYES (7) put the writing on the wall with a smart first up effort when midfield behind IAMAJOYRIDE who franked that with a subsequent win. Too sharp last start at a short quote, he will be probing. SELECTIONS: MY ULTIMATE BONDI (6), ALWAYS BOPPING (5), JEWEL OF PEAK (1), FIRE EYES (7) SUGGESTED BET: MY ULTIMATE BONDI (6) to win
RACE SEVEN RAANI (8) was not suited last start when sent forward and asked to grind it out in the breeze. That was over the AP mile when just 7m from the winner. Working home from deep in the pack to grab the bronze behind the subsequent winner MAJORCA. Tucking in behind the speed, she can arrive. WHATTA GOOD REASON (3) has been a costly conveyance to favourite backers in recent starts, going under in 3 of his past 4 when sent out at the top of the market. Holding 3rd when a big margin from MISS VICTORIA last start, he was game in the breeze the start prior when fighting hard and only a half-head away. He can challenge once again. GET READY TO ROCK (9) found the 1x1 trail from gate 5 last start and was making a closing dive to get within an eyelash of the winner. Asked to work hard the start prior, her record here is good, and she can make a play. KATACHA MAN (4) has been runner-up at his past 2 starts, the latest when sitting in the pocket trail and finishing 1.5m from the winner. Only a nose away the start prior, a return to the front line is a big plus. SELECTIONS: RAANI (8), WHATTA GOOD REASON (3), GET READY TO ROCK (9), KATACHA MAN (4) SUGGESTED BET: RAANI (8) to win
RACE EIGHT LANOCH BOY (4) has been finishing his races strongly running smart closing panels as he continues to return strong runs suggesting he is not far from a victory. Only 5m away last start when launching his closing raid, he was only a nose from the prize here 3 back. With even luck he can arrive. HAMMERTIME HARLEY (2) looked to capitalise from gate 1 here last start when taking control in the early stages. Running them along out in front, it was only the passing lane winner BLISSFULLDAY that was able to get past. Taking the early shot here, she will be gripping on in the stretch. ASHLEE NITRO (9) held the pocket trail from inside the 2nd line last start and when stuck behind a tiring leader, was able to pop off the poles but could not get going. Saved for one run she can chime in here. HIT THE TRACK (1) has not been suited his past couple when drawn wide and retreating before making closing plays. From this gate he can get the easy trip and be ready to strike when the gaps open. SELECTIONS: LANOCH BOY (4), HAMMERTIME HARLEY (2), ASHLEE NITRO (9), HIT THE TRACK (1) SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 1-2-4-9
RACE NINE
KANYE CRUSADER (1) settled in the pocket trail from inside the 2nd line last start in a strong 2138m Saturday night contest when only 6m from the winner MISTERFREEZE. Strong to the line in the closing stages 2 starts back from deep in the pack, he has the options to capitalise here. MARK OF INTEGRITY (4) was obliged to sit parked last start and with the strong tempo over the AP mile could not sustain it throughout. Striking trouble the start prior he was setting the speed 3 starts back when 3.5m from the winner SOHO TSUNAMI. Yet to strike a win here at Redcliffe, he can make a challenge. FEEL THE REIGN (2) resumes from a spell and comes up with the gate to show his early hustle. Fading at his last start before the break, he has a tidy record at the track and can fire the early bullets. OUR LITTLE DIGGER (5) has no favours from the wide gate but has been racing in nice touch. Luckless last start when searching for open space, he hit the line strongly 2 back and has place claims if the speed is strong. SELECTIONS: KANYE CRUSADER (1), MARK OF INTEGRITY (4), FEEL THE REIGN (2), OUR LITTLE DIGGER (5) SUGGESTED BET:
RACE TEN
ILLBEWATCHING (2) has been in great form of late hitting the board in 10 of his past 12 starts that has included 5 victories. Pressing on to find the front last start from gate 4, once in control he was never in danger in claiming the prize with 6m to spare. From the gate he has every chance to go back-to-back. THE CASUAL GOOSE (7) will be requiring the gaps to arrive in time here but has been racing well without too much going his way of late. Trying to find space to make a closing challenge last start behind MAC SWEENEY, he was strong to the line 2 back when not far away. He will be probing. HOLDINGNO CURRENCY (1) looks set to enjoy the cosy run in behind the speed and will be ready to make a closing play in the stretch. 5m from ALTANA BLUE last start when buried away, he will be thereabouts. MAJOR SLIP UP (8) made a costly error last start that ended his chances. 2 starts back he grabbed the bronze when obliged to hang tough in the breeze at Marburg. He has his share of vices but can feature if on his game. SELECTIONS: ILLBEWATCHING (2), THE CASUAL GOOSE (7), HOLDINGNO CURRENCY (1), MAJOR SLIP UP (8) SUGGESTED BET: ILLBEWATCHING (2) to win
