The annual non-TAB Central Warrego RC Charleville Cup race meeting on Tuesday November 2, 2021 has been postponed to a future date to be determined.
The Charleville racetrack has undergone an extensive track upgrade over the past two months.
Following a RQ/QRIC inspection on Wednesday afternoon, it was deemed the track has not been completed satisfactorily to be suitable for racing (from a stakeholder and equine welfare perspective).
RQ endeavored to provide every opportunity to proceed at Charleville and indeed attempted to make contingencies (including transfer of meeting) should that not occur.
RQ will liaise with the club to conduct their Cup meeting at a future date, meanwhile the club will still conduct a “phantom” betting meeting at the Charleville racecourse on Tuesday, November 2, with full facilities available.
Horses originally nominated for the Central Warrego RC (Charleville) race meeting have the opportunity to nominate/accept for any race meeting in Queensland in which acceptances have not been declared.
The Charleville race meeting also featured qualifying races for the Country Cups Challenge Series and the Country Stampede Series – with Finals of both races to be conducted in Brisbane on December 4, 2021.
These qualifying races will now be conducted at the St George JC non-TAB meeting on Saturday, November 13, 2021.
The amended race program for the meeting is:
- Country Cups Challenge Qualifier/St George Cup - Open Hcp - 1600m - $15,000 + $300 tr
- Country Stampede Qualifier - Open Hcp - 1000m - $10,000
