RACE TWO Tackling a very strong qualifier last start, BRAEBEACH (4) did not have the early hustle to get across from gate 2 and was soon settled in the 1x1 trail. Unable to eat into the deficit as EL AGUILA took them all the way, he was able to grab a midfield return. This looks his chance to return to form. OURSOUTHERNSTAR (10) returns from a freshen after her last appearance back in October when forced to make a wide run and just proving to be too far back. That was her 3rd run back from a spell after resuming in a slick mile behind KIWIS ARE FLYING. She can make a swooping challenge. BLISSFULL LILLY (8) will need a slice of luck at some stage in this contest, but if the openings arrive, look for her taking the opportunity. Close to FAME ASSURED last start, she has claims. CHEESANDKISSES (2) claimed a mare’s qualifier 3 starts ago and off the back of that win was given a shot at the better mare’s races. Only 6m from JERADAS DELIGHT 2 starts back, she is in the mix.
SELECTIONS: BRAEBEACH (4), OURSOUTHERNSTAR (10), BLISSFULL LILLY (8), CHEESANDKISSES (2) SUGGESTED BET: BRAEBEACH (4) to win
RACE THREE SCOTCH EN ICE (5) has now placed in his past 5 starts in succession and might just have found the event to turn a string of placings into a win. Runner-up at his past 2 starts, he was making a challenge last start when getting within a head of the winner. It’s a sticky gate but he can capitalise.
SHADOW MINISTER (2) released the speed from gate 1 here 2 starts back and after securing the economical trip had the best closing speed to claim victory via the passing lane. The 2nd line was his undoing last start and with some early hustle here should be in a position to challenge. BONNIES CAM (4) has been in super order since joining Dayl March and last start was searching for a hat-trick of victories. Beaten by gate 7 when looking for the gaps to open last start, he has claims. SWEET LOMBO (3) has just one win here at headquarters and that came over this trip, In consistent form, he has hit the board in 6 of his past 8 which includes 4 wins. Settling handy will be a big plus. SELECTIONS: SCOTCH EN ICE (5), SHADOW MINISTER (2), BONNIES CAM (4), SWEET LOMBO (3) SUGGESTED BET:
RACE FOUR RINGOS A STAR (5) caught the eye last start when retreating from gate 7 to the rear of the pack. Slicing between runners at the 400m, he was weaving a passage and hitting the line in style when just 2m from the winner. The gate is a little sticky but with further fitness, he can arrive. A WHOLE LOTTA ROSIE (2) eased from gate 5 to secure position last start and was soon too far back to make a play over the closing stages. Trying to take them all the way here the start prior, she fought all bar BONNIES CAM off in taking 2nd and will issue a challenge for the cash again here. SHEZ GOT BLING (8) will be tucked away and searching for gaps to make one closing challenge, a pattern that she is effective at and saw her grab a half-neck 2nd last time. Look for her in the stretch. MISTERRIODEJANEIRO (1) battled on to hold 3rd last start at Redcliffe after settling in the 1x1 trail. This is his best gate for some time, and he will get his chance to chime in. SELECTIONS: RINGOS A STAR (5), A WHOLE LOTTA ROSIE (2), SHEZ GOT BLING (8), MISTERRIODEJANEIRO (1) SUGGESTED BET: RINGOS A STAR (5) to win
RACE FIVE Starting from gate 7 last start and snagging back soon after the start, GOING FOR GOLD (9) was camped at the back of the pack and waiting for one closing flurry. Wide off the track his closing splits were super to grab the bronze which followed a close 2nd to MAJORCA. This looks well within reach. WILLIEWA LIGHTNING (1) is a new addition to the Qld ranks and arrives an 8-time winner. Too strong when working home wide off the track to claim victory at Parkes 3 starts back, it was a smart effort at his next run when beaten a half-neck. From the gate he can challenge. ROCKSLIDE (8) made the most of his opportunity from gate 1 last start when darting through, holding them out and leading all the way. That made it 2 from his past 3 and he will be probing. GLENLEDI BOY (6) tackled Saturday night company last time out and easing to find the running line from gate 4 the tempo made it tough to chase. Positioning cheaply will be key to his chances. SELECTIONS: GOING FOR GOLD (9), WILLIEWA LIGHTNING (1), ROCKSLIDE (8), GLENLEDI BOY (6) SUGGESTED BET: GOING FOR GOLD (9) to win
RACE SIX Making the perfect start for new connections GOLDEN LACE (5) was sent straight to the front over the mile and held them off to make it one from one since crossing the Tasman. Taking further fitness and experience to the Qld pattern, she can look to go back-to-back. DOCTA FEELGOOD (7) found the pocket trail last start and with the economical trip had plenty to offer in the run. When the gap opened, he sprinted sharply and pulled clear to claim a 4m margin. The gate stings but he loves to charge home and with a string tempo can throw it down late. FAIRIESDELIGHT (4) was sent to the post as the fav last time out from gate 1 and after holding them wide could not repel the closing challenge of DOCTA FEELGOOD. She can be thereabouts again. TEE JAY CEE (8) was after a hat-trick of wins when finding them a little too strong in the 3YO feature claimed by CHAMONIX. Grinding out a tough 3rd last start, he will be probing for openings. SELECTIONS: GOLDEN LACE (5), DOCTA FEELGOOD (7), FAIRIESDELIGHT (4), TEE JAY CEE (8) SUGGESTED BET: GOLDEN LACE (5) to win
RACE SEVEN It was a tidy effort first up from a spell and at his first Qld start by IM LOKI (2) when keeping them all wide from gate 1. With an upbeat tempo set in front, he had them all chasing and was able to claim victory by 7m. He has the gate to look for a rinse and repeat effort. WHATELEY (9) backs up from a victory here on Tuesday where he settled in the running line from this same gate. Angled into space, it took him a while to wind up, but he continued to reel them in as he arrived for a half-head victory. A similar passage can see him challenge once again. ABERCROMBIE TAB (4) eased from gate 5 last start to settle at the rear of the pack and then could not get into the contest behind IM LOKI. Positioning closer can see him in the mix. BRISKET (4) had an early look here on Tuesday but repelled for the front was able to ease into the running line with cover. He can get close enough to be in the mix again. SELECTIONS: IM LOKI (2), WHATELEY (9), ABERCROMBIE TAB (4), BRISKET (4) SUGGESTED BET: IM LOKI (2) to win
RACE EIGHT In a very tricky contest to dissect, the winning chances come from right across the board. Although not drawn ideally VIEWBYTHEROCK (8) might just be able to squeeze out into space. Grinding it out in the breeze last start, he was game in defeat. Only a half-head away 4 runs back, he can bob up. DON HESTON (7) made the most of the pole last start, burrowing through in the early stages to keep the wide and then from the front took them all the way. Going into that race after 3 runs since resuming from a spell, he should take some confidence and despite the gate can make a play. SHEREACTS (9) is still searching for her first win at headquarters after 9 previous attempts have delivered 3 placings. Luckless last start when stuck in traffic, she can feature in this open event. SWEET SANGRIA (1) made an error last start that ended her chances which had followed a pair of tidy efforts where she closed out nicely on each occasion. The cosy trip should suit. SELECTIONS: VIEWBYTHEROCK (8), DON HESTON (7), SHEREACTS (9), SWEET SANGRIA (1) SUGGESTED BET:
