Trainer Matthew Heilbronn believes Dulceria’s imposing record from box one can see her become a dual Group 3 winner in Friday’s $60,000 Rockhampton Cup Final.
Dulceria got her career off to a flying start after winning the Group 3 Townsville Cup at just her tenth race effort.
Heilbronn has raised the bar high for his 29-month-old daughter of Zambora Brockie ever since, including three trips to Sydney.
He is already eyeing another trip south to Dubbo for heats of The Brother Fox over 516 metres featuring a $50,000 Final.
But, first it’s the return trip to Rocky for the Final, worth $40,000 to the winner alone, after Dulceria overcame early interference last week to finish second to Jagger Moves in the heats.
Dulceria is a winner of three from four attempts from box one and is $11 into $7 with TAB to build on that record on Friday.
The Tony Brett-trained Milligan is drawn to Dulceria’s outside in box two and is the current $2.15 favourite to take Rocky’s biggest prize.
“We’ve got to lead Milligan,” Heilbronn said.
“If Milligan holds his line or goes up the track then she should be able to sneak through on the fence.
“I didn’t trial there so last week was her first look at the track and she can improve off that.”
