RACE ONE Will today be the day for JACCKA WATCH (4) to land his first victory since crossing the Tasman. Runner-up at his past 8 in succession, the latest when making late metres to be 6m in arrears after being slowly into stride. If he can be sharper at the start, these conditions appeal. HATTIE (1) was a winner under similar conditions here five starts back when starting off the front tape and with the nice trip in behind the leader was able to land a winning blow in the stretch. Forget the last start where she made an error, this looks right for her to challenge. DEAD SET MUSCLE (3) has shown improvement at each outing since resuming from a spell, the latest a tidy effort after making a mess of the start before chasing hard to be 8m in arrears. MISSY NOVA (5) makes her Aus race debut, arriving from the Shaky Isles with 1 victory in 6 attempts. A half-sister to the record holding Our Overanova, she has trialled soundly in readiness.
SELECTIONS: JACCKA WATCH (4), HATTIE (1), DEAD SET MUSCLE (3), MISSY NOVA (5) SUGGESTED BET: JACCKA WATCH (4) to win
RACE TWO With a smart record over the 13-furlongs since arriving in Qld, REGAL APPOINTMENT (8) might just appreciate the conditions on offer here. 2 from 3 at the long trip, the only miss came when tackling a much stronger contest in Sat night grade. Making some late metres last start, he can arrive here. MAJESTIC HARRY (10) was a winner at this trip last start when overcoming the 40m back mark with a great start when the strand released and chasing up to land the 1x1 trail in transit. From there he had the speed to arrive and from the 20m in similar company, he can throw it down once again. BD KHAOSAN (11) started from the 20m impost last start and owned superior closing power to arrive for a 1m margin. Building towards that win with successive placings, he is right in this. FATHER CHRISTMAS (4) has been on the naughty list in recent outings, with tarting errors proving costly. An improved effort last start when safely, albeit slowly away to grab 3rd has him in the mix.
SELECTIONS: REGAL APPOINTMENT (8), MAJESTIC HARRY (10), BD KHAOSAN (11), FATHER CHRISTMAS (4) SUGGESTED BET: REGAL APPOINTMENT (8) to win
RACE THREE With a perfect record of 1 from 1 when sitting behind OUR FRIEND (2), Clint Sneddon finds the chance to maintain the perfect record from this gate. Runner-up here two starts back when setting the speed and collared in the closing strides at the 2138m, he can look to dictate here. FEELS LIKA BOSS (6) has not really had much go his way in three starts here at headquarters this campaign, the latest when faced with gate 7 and finishing midfield. 8m in arrears two starts back from the second line, he lands another tough gate here but might just appreciate this opposition. LAZY BLAZE (3) was a winner at Redcliffe two starts back when landing in the trail from gate 1 and then finishing best to claim a narrow victory. 3rd in a Trot Rods heat last start, he is in the mix here. LANCELOT BROMAC (8) kept chasing last start to grab the bronze when 6m shy of the winner. With second line options, he will be looking to wind up late to make a play for the podium. SELECTIONS: OUR FRIEND (2), FEELS LIKA BOSS (6), LAZY BLAZE (3), LANCELOT BROMAC (8) SUGGESTED BET: OUR FRIEND (2) to win
RACE FOUR COME SAY HI (1) arrives with the McCarthy juggernaut and was last sighted in a string Menangle event where she faded after being sent out as the fav. Just 6m from JUST HOPE two starts back at Wagga where she attacked the line in the closing stages, she has all the options to capitalise. BORSELLINO (4) claimed the Breeders Classic Consolation last start after proving too tough, sitting parked and grafting out a tough victory over the 2138m trip. Fitter again for the outing which was his second run back this prep, he can be near the action and making a challenge. ILLBEWATCHING (8) is never too far from the action, his last start he just could not warm up late. Securing the cosy trip here and saved for the closing shot, he will be probing for the openings. MAYWYN MACDUFF (9) was a winner here two starts back over the 2138m when securing the ideal trip behind the leader and owning superior closing speed. Grabbed in the last strides last start, he is in the mix. SELECTIONS: COME SAY HI (1), BORSELLINO (4), ILLBEWATCHING (8), MAYWYN MACDUFF (9) SUGGESTED BET: COME SAY HI (1) to win
RACE FIVE Still searching for a breakthrough this season after five attempts, MISTER REACTOR (1) looks to have found the conditions to deliver it here. Runner-up last start behind BORSELLINO after starting from inside the second line, he can burrow through to protect to the poles and look to dictate. HARLEY BLUE (8) was away from the inside just after the mile over the 2138m last start and slid p to sit parked thereafter. Fading in the closing stages, it followed a tidy effort behind WE ALWAYS HAVE FAITH. Baack to the mile will suit here and with the soft trip can be ready to strike in the stretch. PARKED IN HEAVEN (10) resumes from a spell after her last outing back in November when finishing in 2nd place at Penrith in a season where she hit the board in 4 of 6. The gate stings here first up. LADY ALLEGRA (4) has been runner-up in 2 of her past 3 starts, the latest when using the passing lane to get within 2m of the winner. With even luck in the run, she can chime in again. SELECTIONS: MISTER REACTOR (1), HARLEY BLUE (8), PARKED IN HEAVEN (10), LADY ALLEGRA (4) SUGGESTED BET:
RACE SIX Arriving from the North Island of NZ, COVER GIRL (8) will make her Aus debut for the McCarthy stable. Last raced at Alexandra Park back in March, she grabbed 3rd in the G1 Northern Oaks behind TRUE FANTASY. A G2 winner three starts back, the gate is tricky, but she appears too classy. WILLIEWA LIGHTNING (3) was a winner over this trip two starts back when firing off the arm to take control and take them all the way. Wilting last start after working hard from gate 7 to get across and set the speed, he can be first to the poles again here and be gripping on late. POLKA DOT DANCE (1) was a Redcliffe winner two starts back from the pocket trail when grabbing the win right in the wire. Runner-up to CATSEYE BEACH last start, she has the gate to be in the mix. TORQUE ONETWOTHREE (6) claimed a mare’s qualifier three starts back when arriving in the closing strides. Down the line last start behind WHICH HUNT, the gate is not ideal, but she is a place hope. SELECTIONS: COVER GIRL (8), WILLIEWA LIGHTNING (3), POLKA DOT DANCE (1), TORQUE ONETWOTHREE (6) SUGGESTED BET: COVER GIRL (8) to win
RACE SEVEN Beaten by gate 6 over the Redcliffe 1780m last start, BRYDON EARL (1) was taken off the gate to settle at the back of the pack. Running into traffic when trying to make a closing raid, his run two back had merit behind LIFES BLACK. With the improved gate and the options, he can look to cash-in. GENERAL MONTANA (5) started from inside the second line at Redcliffe last start and was all dressed up with nowhere to go, hitting dead ends and never getting a crack at them. After two runs back from a spell, positioning cheaply will aid his chances of issuing the challenge. AUNTY BELLA (8) was a gritty winner here last start when sitting parked and grafting out the victory over the 2138m trip. Luckless the start prior, she will be needing a rub of the green from this alley. ITZ CHEROKEE JACK (2) resumes from a freshen after his last start back in April where he was rough in hi action throughout. With four runs into his campaign before the ease up, he can improve here. SELECTIONS: BRYDON EARL (1), GENERAL MONTANA (5), AUNTY BELLA (8), ITZ CHEROKEE JACK (2) SUGGESTED BET: BRYDON EARL (1) to win
RACE EIGHT
Sent for a break after a last start issue when searching for a hat-trick of victories, SLIP THE HUNDY (5) resumes here off the back of a slick trial. Doing it well within himself in that hit out, he claimed a 1.52.6 mile win here two starts back when sitting parked. He can take control of this to see it out. KATACHA MAN (1) is in top touch at present, hitting the board at hi past six in succession, including a win here last time out over the 2138m trip. Sent to sit parked, he grafted out a determined victory with 2m to spare on the wire. With the benefit of the gate, he can get the cosy trip to challenge. LITTLE CHANGE (8) will be buried away here but was a winner two starts back when taking the inside runs following the pegs home. A similar trip can see him chime into the money again. ROLL ONE OVER (9) can drop to the pegs early with the poles likely the place to be in this contest. Strong to the line last start behind HIDDEN COURAGE, he can chime in once again. SELECTIONS: SLIP THE HUNDY (5), KATACHA MAN (1), LITTLE CHANGE (8), ROLL ONE OVER (9) SUGGESTED BET: SLIP THE HUNDY (5) to win
