RACE ONE

With three runs back in Qld this Winter campaign, SPORT MENTAL (1) is yet to finish in the money but will relish conditions here after landing her best gate since arriving. 6m from NO DOUBT in the heat at Redcliffe when eased to the poles from gate 4, she can secure the right trip and just needs momentum.

FALCONS (5) will enjoy any tempo generated here as he has a strong closing flurry when saved. Attacking the line strongly last start to get within a half-neck of the winner, he was buried in the run two back when trying to make some closing metres behind CHAMONIX. He can be chiming in.

GOLDEN SAND (7) was sent forward from outside the front line on The Triangle last start and applying the heat first over, was able to grip on for 3rd. He will be pressing on with it again here.

DUKKAH (9) was buried from inside the second line here two runs back when finishing 7m from the winner. Hitting the line in nice order last start after retreating early, he can trail through to feature.

SELECTIONS: SPORT MENTAL (1), FALCONS (5), GOLDEN SAND (7), DUKKAH (9)
SUGGESTED BET: SPORT MENTAL (1) to win

RACE TWO

Easing from gate 6 in the first heat for this final which was on this deck, BLACK HAWK JOE (1) was produced wider on the track and attacked the line strongly to take the prize. Tackling much tougher Saturday night B5 contests in two runs since, he can run the gate and has the options in his favour to chase down his 8th success here at The Creek.

CHAMONIX (2) has been sectionally strong despite the numbers not in his favour before translating that into a 2nd over the 2138m. Franking the effort when claiming a heat for this Final when descending on them in the closing strides for a 2m victory, he has the gate to issue a challenge.

RYANS GANGSTER (3) finished with the silver in a similar 70Final four runs back from inside the second line when chasing SLIP THE HUNDY. Beaten a neck in his heat, he can chime in once again.

MUMMYS BOY (8) went to the Redcliffe heat of this series when asked to do it the tough way outside the leader. In for the fight to hold on for 3rd, he should enjoy the economical trip here.

SELECTIONS: BLACK HAWK JOE (1), CHAMONIX (2), RYANS GANGSTER (3), MUMMYS BOY (8)

RACE THREE

Claiming a qualifying victory five starts back at this trip when pressing on to the front and then dictating, THE RACONTEUR (1) has not had much go his way in the four runs since. Midfield to MANILA PLAYBOY in the Patrons Purse, a 2nd to ALBY TWO CHAINS and then wide gates at his past two have all been against him. He lands the marble and options to turn it around.

DOUBTLESS BAY (4) is in search of a hat-trick of victories after claiming his past two in succession over the Menangle mile. Able to dictate in front in both wins, the latest in claiming a 5m margin, he was due to make his first Qld appearance in last Friday’s abandoned meeting and from this gate will be throwing down the challenge.

THE HONEY QUEEN (7) was sent forward off the gate here last week before releasing FAIRY TINKABELL and then chased that mare all the way, holding on for 2nd in a new mare’s class record. The rise to the 2138m against allcomers makes this a big ask.

MAKE MINE MEMPHIS (9) looked to have every chance last week when tucked in behind the leader over the 2680m but he could not abbreviate the deficit up the passing lane. Sectionally superb leading into that contest, can he break the drought?

SELECTIONS: THE RACONTEUR (1), DOUBTLESS BAY (4), THE HONEY QUEEN (7), MAKE MINE MEMPHIS (9)
SUGGESTED BET: THE RACONTEUR (1) to win

RACE FOUR

Faced with gate 7 in a tough contest last time out, BALLERINI (8) was able to sweep down the outside and claim a smart victory Asked to hang tough when parked the start prior as subsequent winner CRIME WRITER swept the prize, she gets back to mares company and can stalk the speed.

VALKYRIE (1) has won two of her past four starts, turning over a hot fav SOHO ALMASI four runs back when taking a shot up the passing lane and then taking them all the way from this same gate two runs back. Worried out of it last start in front, she has the gate to dictate.

OUR ROAD TO MECCA (9) was resuming from a spell last start at her first outing for Ricky Thurlow when eased from gate 5. Never getting a crack at them, she can trail through here to feature.

IAMAJOYRIDE (6) rattled home in some slick closing panels here last start when finishing midfield behind BEYOND DELIGHT. Too far back two starts back, against mare’s she is right in the mix.

SELECTIONS: BALLERINI (8), VALKYRIE (1), OUR ROAD TO MECCA (9), IAMAJOYRIDE (6)
SUGGESTED BET: BALLERINI (8) to win

RACE FIVE

DANCE IN THE SUN (4) has come back in four runs this campaign much improved off her last campaign where it was aborted after it just did not go to plan. Taking them all the way three starts back, her two efforts since have been good and tackling her own sex here can look to see it out.

SLICK SOPHIE (2) was obliged to graft it out first over last start and after the tough trip faded as MR IBIZA was able to take the prize. That was her first appearance in Qld and since that run she has been back to the trials to sharpen the pencil. First to the poles from this gate, the options appeal.

WINONA WRITER (7) has been racing in nice touch and all comers in recent outings, the latest when trying to make wide ground behind the passing lane winner ONE BIG SHEW. The gate does her no favours.

GIRL FROM OZ (8) will be hemmed away here and searching for a way clear. Placed in successive starts heading into this, the latest behind JERADAS DELIGHT in an open mare’s event. She will be probing.

SELECTIONS: DANCE IN THE SUN (4), SLICK SOPHIE (2), WINONA WRITER (7), GIRL FROM OZ (8)
SUGGESTED BET: DANCE IN THE SUN (4) to win

RACE SIX

Snagging back from a wide gate last week when third up from a spell, STAR GALLERIA (8) looked set to find the back of the eventual joint winner CRIME WRITER but instead ended one spot farther back. Slicing and probing in the stretch for the gaps, he was just 5m in arrears and can stalk the speed here ready to take the snipers shot.

COLT THIRTY ONE (3) secured the ideal trip here two runs back from inside the second line and when the gap presented darted through to arrive in the closing strides. Hunting down a half-century of wins here at The Creek, his effort in the Blacks A Fake last week was sound and he can make a play for this.

CRUNCH TIME (1) comes up with the gate to stake his claim for a win after clashing with some of the big guns. Collared in the last strides three runs back by COLT THIRTY ONE up the passing lane, he will be rolling and providing the target.

JERADAS DELIGHT (2) had no luck three runs back and the was game in defeat when parked in the Golden Girl. Doing plenty of work in a sizzling mile last start, she will handy enough to feature.

SELECTIONS: STAR GALLERIA (8), COLT THIRTY ONE (3), CRUNCH TIME (1), JERADAS DELIGHT (2)
SUGGESTED BET: STAR GALLERIA (8) to win

RACE SEVEN

Tackling a much tougher contest in the Blacks A Fake Consolation last start, a return to veteran’s company looks the perfect tonic for SAM IS PERFECTION (6). Just 5m from the joint winners last week, he was not too far from ROCKIN MARTY the start prior, with the class drop looking enticing.

OUR BONDI BEACH (1) finds the right opposition to look for another AP victory and make it a dozen here at the Breakfast Creek oval. 6m in arrears of BALLERINI last start after easing form gate 2 looking for the poles, he can get the pattern matching trip to take throw down the challenge.

MAFUTA VAUTIN (8) comes up with the second line options here and should appreciate the chance to get a cosy trip in behind the speed. Unable to warm up wide off the track last start as MISTERFREEZE dominated, he can take the shortcuts here.

OHOKA JIMMY (2) eased from gate 5 looking for position last start and was sound to the line behind subsequent winner DELIGHTFUL DUDE. Tucking in behind in this, he can be thereabouts.

SELECTIONS: SAM IS PERFECTION (6), OUR BONDI BEACH (1), MAFUTA VAUTIN (8), OHOKA JIMMY (2)
SUGGESTED BET: SAM IS PERFECTION (6) to win, Exotics 6 / 1 / 2-4-8

RACE EIGHT

Perhaps not rising to the level that it may have been expected SOHO ALMASI (6) would reach this carnival, a return to mare’s qualifying grade looks in her favour. Well covered last start behind PERFECT CUT, she chased from the trail two back behind JERADAS DELIGHT. The gate is tricky, but she should be winning this if anywhere near her best.

SUGAR FOR MY HONEY (5) has been around in the three Oaks contests in her past four starts with a 4th at Redcliffe before finishing down the line in both the South East and Qld. Sandwiched in the middle of those is an all the way win over the 2138m on this deck and despite the wider gate, she can make a play.

NOR WESTA (8) eased from gate 5 last start looking for position and was soon buried on the poles. Making some nice closing metres as ONE BIG SHEW arrived up the lane, back to mare’s company is a plus.

CALA JANE (7) has no favours from the outside paint and will be relying on some factors to fall in her favour. A passing lane winner here two starts back, she was buried away last time and has podium claims.

SELECTIONS: SOHO ALMASI (6), SUGAR FOR MY HONEY (5), NOR WESTA (8), CALA JANE (7)
SUGGESTED BET: SOHO ALMASI (6) to win

RACE NINE

After being turned over in his first three starts when arriving in Qld, MR IBIZA (3) found his groove last start when sent forward, wrestling away the lead over the mile and then pulling clear to claim a 17m margin. Building off that win, he will need to tackle the older performers and take the next step, but it’s a step within reach.

TIZ A SIZZLER (7) will take further benefit from his run here on Tuesday where he was second up from a long spell. Claiming a smart first up victory at Redcliffe in a slick closing panel, he grabbed the silver behind DELIGHTFUL DUDE last time. The wide gate makes it a tough ask to challenge.

GOOD AS IT GETS (6) started from outside the second line here last week and made an early move to be outside the leader by the bell, fighting hard up the stretch. Just 3m in arrears the start prior, he is in the mix once again.

ASTERISM (2) was just a head astern of the winner here two starts back when finding the pocket trail and chasing hard in the stretch as JENDEN STRIKE saw it out. From the gate he can feature.

SELECTIONS: MR IBIZA (3), TIZ A SIZZLER (7), GOOD AS IT GETS (6), ASTERISM (2)
SUGGESTED BET: MR IBIZA (3) to win
