RACE ONE From gate 4 last time, COPPERFIELD (1) was snagged back to secure position as the tempo was slick in front over the mile. Running up behind them, he was searching for open space but had a wall of horses in front as he went to the line untested. Beaten by the second line the start prior, he lands all the options here to capitalise. SAGINAW (12) has plenty of experience from the outside second line at this trip owing to the ODM embargo he still carries. A rare front line appearance last start saw him press forward from gate 6 to sit first over and fight on for the bronze behind ONE BIG SHEW. Too strong in the latter stages here two starts back, he can throw down the challenge. SWAYZEE (4) was a big winner here two starts back in midweek company when working to the chair and grafting out a tough win. Runner-up here last week at the mile, the rise to the 2138m should prove no issue.
THE GROGFATHER (8) has been consistent with 5 placings in his past 6 starts and he finds the gate here to be tucked in for the easy trip. Grabbed in the closing stages last time after leading, he will be probing.
SELECTIONS: COPPERFIELD (1), SAGINAW (12), SWAYZEE (4), THE GROGFATHER (8) SUGGESTED BET: COPPERFIELD (1) to win
RACE TWO The three runners dropping back to veteran’s company from last week’s FFA look to be the testing material, with APHORISM (6) likely to appreciate the opportunity back in this grade. Setting the speed in the early stages last week until BLACKSADANCE rang his bell, he struck trouble two starts back. With a rub of the green and the trip, he can bounce back. MISTERFREEZE (7) started from the second line last week and was trying to find some closing momentum when finishing midfield. A tough 3rd from this gate in midweek company two starts back and finishing 5m in arrears of the winner, limiting the early burn will aid his challenging chances. SAM IS PERFECTION (11) was a winner five runs back when firing out from gate to take control and see it out with 4m to spare. A passing lane 3rd to MACH DA VINCI at his next start, his past three have been in open company and back to this is a big help. MAFUTA VAUTIN (9) was pinned away from inside the second line last time out and made some nice metres to grab the silver behind SAM IS PERFECTION. Fresh up since that outing, he can chime in.
SELECTIONS: APHORISM (6), MISTERFREEZE (7), SAM IS PERFECTION (11), MAFUTA VAUTIN (9) SUGGESTED BET: APHORISM (6) to win
RACE THREE Returning this campaign in fine fettle, TIZ A SIZZLER (1) will be looking to chalk up his 4th win since resuming. Sent forward from the second line start to sit parked, he was able to graft out a gritty victory, pulling clear in the stretch to post an 8m margin. With the big gate improvement, he looks to have the distinct edge. KEAYANG MARVEN (8) has been to the track on three occasions since returning from a spell and has been able to place in two of those. 2m in arrears of the winner MUCH BETTOR from this gate last time out, he looks set to enjoy the cosy trip and stalking the speed can be ready to take his shot. BELLA BALL TERROR (9) is racing in nice touch, having finished as the runner-up at his past two starts. Leading the three-wide train from the 800m last start, he was game in finishing 2m away. The pegs could be the perfect play here. AUNTY BELLA (5) might need to be working again at some stage from this alley, but she has been strong at her past two when rolling the sleeves. Holding on for the silver here last week when chasing a hat-trick, she is in the mix. SELECTIONS: TIZ A SIZZLER (1), KEAYANG MARVEN (8), BELLA BALL TERROR (9), AUNTY BELLA (5) SUGGESTED BET: Flexi trifecta 1 / 8-9 / 3-4-5-8-9
RACE FOUR ESCALERA (3) is staring down 12-months since his last victory and lines up off the back of a 4th placing behind the airborne BLACKSADANCE in the FFA last week. Chasing stoutly to the line where he was 2m from the 2nd placed TOMMY LINCOLN, a return to this level of contest looks a suitable assignment.
PACIFIC DRUMS (6) faces a sticky gate first up and some strong opponents following his last race appearance back in April. With two Redcliffe trials to prepare, the pipes are well and truly open and ready for a return after blazing the mile in 1.53.4 in the second outing. He can power up fresh in this. BIG WHEELS (8) was chasing down a hat-trick of wins last start when forced to tackle open company and then given the double whammy of gate 7. Working hard in the early stages, he faded late as his big bro BLACKSADANCE put them to the sword. He will be probing here for open road. DANCE IN THE SUN (2) settled back in the pack last time out before charging home in the closing stages to take victory. With the early hustle to find a forward spot, she is in the mix once again. SELECTIONS: ESCALERA (3), PACIFIC DRUMS (6), , BIG WHEELS (8), DANCE IN THE SUN (2) SUGGESTED BET: ESCALERA (3) to win
RACE FIVE A tough mares race here where the class runner CALA JANE (7) will need to be at her best to overcome the outside gate. Taken back from this same alley last start, she was too far back trying to make ground against the tempo. Runner-up her previous three in succession, this is within reach. DANCINTOTHEBEAT (1) has passed 12 months since she last tasted victory, chipping in with five placed returns this season. Fired out from gate 3 last start to lead, she couldn’t hold on, fading to be 8m in arrears of the winner GIRL FROM OZ. With all the options from this alley, she can challenge. GUNNA NEEDAMARGARTIA (8) was a winner three starts back from the second line when working home wider off the track to take the prize. Strong to the line last start for the silver behind GIRK FROM OZ, she will be probing. PARKED IN HEAVEN (5) took out a much easier Redcliffe race in nice time two starts back before showing good early hustle here last start. Finishing 3m from the winner AUNTY BELLA, she can flash some early speed. SELECTIONS: CALA JANE (7), DANCINTOTHEBEAT (1), GUNNA NEEDAMARGARTIA (8), PARKED IN HEAVEN (5) SUGGESTED BET:
RACE SIX This race is the ballot division of race 1 and looks a messy map and tricky contest to unpack. The result might show a 9th for PARAMA (10) at his last start, but he went to the line untested after searching for the gaps that didn’t open. Strong to the line two starts back, he can trail through to make his play. BACKINTOWN (5) was asked to hang tough first over last start and after the tough trip faded to midfield behind GOOD AS IT GETS. Trying to take them all the way here two starts back when resuming from a spell, he was 7m from MUFASA. He can fire early bullets to throw it down. JOEY LINCOLN (7) has been plying his trade at Redcliffe since mid-June, winning 6 races in that time. Snookered from inside the second line last start, it followed a 24m demolition of his rivals. The gate makes hi task tough. MAYWYN TROUBADOR (12) has been runner-up at his past two starts, the latest when releasing after finding the poles first and then chasing FUTURE ASSURED. The gate dampens his chances. SELECTIONS: PARAMA (10), BACKINTOWN (5), JOEY LINCOLN (7), MAYWYN TROUBADOR (12) SUGGESTED BET: PARAMA (10) to win
RACE SEVEN Finding the front twice in six attempts here at The Creek, SLICK SOPHIE (2) has been able to win on both those occasions. Finding the poles from this gate last start, she kept them rolling and was able to finish them off with a 27 flat closer in taking a 2m margin. Finding the pegs, she can see this out. GIRL FROM OZ (5) was able to find the 1x1 trail from gate 2 here last week and with the perfect trip had the closing speed to arrive for the prize with 4m to spare. A wide gate was her undoing two starts back as UPTOWN BEACHGIRL dictated from the front. Despite a tricky gate, she can challenge. BAKER CREEK (1) backs up from Wednesday night where she sailed home down the outside to arrive in the closing stride for victory. A return to mare’s grade and the chance to stalk the speed put her right in calculations. JENDEN STRIKE (7) made a costly error last time out that ended her chances. Runner-up to the subsequent winner LOVE YOUR WORK last start, back to her own sex can see her right in the fight. SELECTIONS: SLICK SOPHIE (2), GIRL FROM OZ (5), BAKER CREEK (1), JENDEN STRIKE (7) SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 1-2 / 1-2-5-7 / 1-2-4-5-7
RACE EIGHT This is the Final after three heats were conducted at Marburg last Sunday. Finishing 2nd in his heat, SAILAONG SINBAD (4) was hitting the line in nice style, running some smart closing panels around the tight track. Chasing home MOLLIESMARYELLE two starts back, this looks well within reach. GABBYS SPORTSTAR (5) was large in victory in his heat after pressing forward three-wide early. Repelled, he went back to the rear before making another move and was wide for the last 700m and despite the tough trip had the temerity to poke the head out and score. He can throw it down. SHEZALUCKYLADY (9) completed a hat-trick of victories courtesy of a peach of a drive in her heat. Slicing between runners and finding gaps to arrive, with the right trip she can claim the quartet. BULLDOG BRAWLER (10) rolled forward from gate 3 in his heat where sitting parked, he proved too strong in putting the leader away and taking a 4m margin. Runner-up here three starts back, he can be chiming in. SELECTIONS: SAILAONG SINBAD (4), GABBYS SPORTSTAR (5), SHEZALUCKYLADY (9), BULLDOG BRAWLER (10) SUGGESTED BET: SAILAONG SINBAD (4) to win
RACE NINE
Shooting for a hat-trick of victories after wins at 2138m and then the mile, BLACKSADANCE (3) brings a last start victory where he totally dominated his opposition from gate 10. Stopping the clock in an electric 1.50.7 mile, he may need to do some early work, but he is in absolute beast mode. CRUZ BROMAC (2) should take some benefit from his last outing where he was stepping out for the first time for the new stable. Charging across from gate 7 to lead at the 2138m trip, he fought hard in finishing 2m in arrears of the winner. A gazelle off the arm and can be first to the poles here. WILL THE WIZARD (7) chased his stablemate BLACKSADANCE two starts back when running him to 5m. Either side of that run he has drawn wide gates as he does once again. Sectionally super in all of those efforts, he will need some luck. NORTHVIEW HUSTLER (5) started from inside the second line last time out and was soon hemmed away three back on the poles. Charging hard when the gap arrived to take the prize, he looms large. SELECTIONS: BLACKSADANCE (3), CRUZ BROMAC (2), WILL THE WIZARD (7), NORTHVIEW HUSTLER (5) SUGGESTED BET:
RACE TEN Chasing down the hat-trick and well suited by the mobile conditions, KING OF THE NORTH (2) has the right alley to dictate Taking them all the way at the mile after pouncing on the poles from this gate two starts back, he then took victory at the 13-furlong stand start last time. From this alley, the threepeat is on. HUMBLE LADD (5) arrives back in Qld and this time joins the Jack Butler barn. Having August away from the track, his last appearance was at Bendigo where an Inter Dominion exemption was on offer. Finishing at the rear of the pack in that battle behind NEPHEW OF SONOKO, he was runner-up to that same winner three runs back. RED CASTELTON (8) has been steadily improving this campaign and finds the mapping where he does his best work here. Saved for a closing shot off a soft trip, he can be probing for openings. FATHER CHRISTMAS (1) has been a model of consistency in recent times, hitting the board at his past 7 in succession. Runner-up to KING OF THE NORTH last start at the mobile mile, he has the gate to feature at career outing 200. SELECTIONS: KING OF THE NORTH (2), HUMBLE LADD (5), RED CASTELTON (8), FATHER CHRISTMAS (1) SUGGESTED BET: KING OF THE NORTH (2) to win
