Former truck driver Andrew Cameron believes veteran sprinter So You Dream still has plenty to offer and is hopeful of another win from the eight-year-old at Townsville on Thursday.
So You Dream – a Michael Murphy mount – lines up for his 55th career start in the Open Handicap over 1300 metres at Cluden Park.
A son of So You Think, So You Dream has won 11 times and has placed on another 13 occasions and is coming off a last start fourth to the Tim Cook-trained Brad in a 1300 metre Open event at Mackay on August 23.
“He did a good job to run fourth last start and he came back to the enclosure with a loose plate,” Cameron said.
“He hasn’t raced for more than three weeks and I’ve been taking him to the beach a lot.
“I’m sure he’ll run a big race even though 1400 metres is more his go.”
So You Dream has an affinity for the Townsville track, winning four times and being placed on another three occasions from 16 attempts.
“We’ve had So You Dream for four years and we’ve won eight races with him and I’m positive there’s more wins to come,” Cameron said.
Cameron originally hails from New Zealand but moved to the Gold Coast to drive trucks after closing his stables across the Tasman.
He fell in love with Bowen while doing a driving trip around Australia with his partner Lisa Ratcliffe ten years ago.
