Former Rockhampton flyer Lepreezy is showing the right signs she’s ready for her maiden win for the Annabel Neasham stable at Doomben on Wednesday.
Lepreezy hasn’t raced since struggling on a heavy track at the Gold Coast in the middle of September last year and steps out for her 10th start for Neasham in the Benchmark 75 Handicap over 1010 metres.
“Lepreezy has come back really well this campaign and she won a barrier trial at Doomben recently,” Neasham’s Brisbane stable manager Todd Pollard said.
“Since she came to us from Rockhampton last year, we haven’t been able to win a race with her yet.
“We sent her to Sydney originally, then she came back here for three runs, before we decided to tip her out for a long spell.
“She’s trialled really well and she’s a real speedster with a good record over 1000 metres.”
Pollard said Lepreezy is now well placed in Neasham’s Eagle Farm stable and she’s coming up well this preparation.
“Anything under 1100 metres is perfect for her,” he said.
“If she can go to the front and control her races, she’s always hard to run down, but if she’s taken on it can ruin her chances.”
Lepreezy is yet to win in nine starts for Neasham.
The mare has won nine times in Central Queensland and earned a start for her previous Rockhampton trainer Angela Stephens in the QTIS Jewel at the Gold Coast in 2020.
However, she bungled the start for the first time in her career in The Jewel, finishing eighth to the Kelly Schweida-trained The Odyssey.
