RACE ONE Claiming a qualifying win here three starts back from the pocket trail, LOCHINVAR JAG (1) looks set to secure that same trip again here. Strong to the line behind LORD ZARIAS two back, he was rattling home last time out when just a head from THE HUMMER. He will be coiled and ready to strike. YEP GOT CHOOKS (3) had to roll the sleeves here last week and under the circumstances was brave in fighting from the breeze as SLIP THE HUNDY dished out a spanking to his rivals. A winner at the mile when leading here five runs back, wide gates have stung since. This looks within reach. HEZASHADOWPLAYA (11) has had four starts here at The Creek for a win and two close minors. A smart winner here last week in front, this will be the first time he will have to do it off pegs here. BOMBADIER JUJON (8) was beaten by gate 7 last start after easing to secure position, it was then out of reach for any chasers as SLIP THE HUNDY carved it out in front. A cheap peg trip appeals. SELECTIONS: LOCHINVAR JAG (1), YEP GOT CHOOKS (3), HEZASHADOWPLAYA (11), BOMBADIER JUJON (8) SUGGESTED BET: LOCHINVAR JAG (1) to win
RACE TWO The consolation of the 70Series can see CALL ME KEITH (4) look to bounce back to winning form following a 4th in his heat behind KARLOO BRADLEY. Beaten by the outside front line gate at Redcliffe on that occasion, he has not been too far away in recent starts. In an open contest, he can arrive. LUKE JOHN (2) faced the second line in his heat where the race was controlled in front by WHATA ROLLER. Making nice metres in the closing stages for 3rd, it was his second run for the Dwyer stable after a first up attempt from the tapes at Marburg. With an improved alley, he can throw it down. CHAINLINC (8) started from this same gate and was buried in the run in his heat when midfield to WHATA ROLLER. Strong to the line in a qualifier two starts back behind THE HUMMER, he will be probing. FALCONS (1) grabbed the bronze here two starts back, albeit some 25m from the winner. Making some late metres after copping gate 6 at Redcliffe last start, he has the options here to chime in. SELECTIONS: CALL ME KEITH (4), LUKE JOHN (2), CHAINLINC (8), FALCONS (1) SUGGESTED BET: CALL ME KEITH (4) to win
RACE THREE This race is wide open and looks a racing cartographers’ nightmare to plot the scenarios that could eventuate. CAPTAIN NEMO (11) tackled a midweeker last time out and from gate 7 retreated before really hitting the line strongly when 1m from the winner FATHER BOB. He might just be the one. KEAYANG MARVEN (1) eased from gate 5 last time out to secure position and from deep field was trying to make ground against the tempo. Descending on them to claim victory here two starts back in smart fashion, he can tuck in behind the speed and be ready for the opening to challenge. SWEDISH STARLET (6) was runner-up last start in tough fashion in mare’s company after sitting parked. Given no favours from the wide gate, she has the close out speed to feature. SCOTCH EN ICE (3) has grabbed the bronze at his past two starts, the latest when buried in the run behind the flying KANYE CRUSADER. Positioning cheaply will aid his chances. SELECTIONS: CAPTAIN NEMO (11), KEAYANG MARVEN (1), SWEDISH STARLET (6), SCOTCH EN ICE (3) SUGGESTED BET: CAPTAIN NEMO (11) to win
RACE FOUR
Resuming here last week when first up from last October’s Queen of the Pacific JENDEN STRIKE (10) will derive plenty of benefit from the outing. Asked to hang tough after being sent around them to sit parked, she peaked late to finish midfield. Back to her own sex is a big plus and she can arrive. ROSES ARE SWEET (3) found them a little out of reach last start after showing the early hustle from gate 5 to lead before taking cover. Just 2m from KEAYANG MARVEN two starts back after darting to the poles, she can fire some early bullets to look for the poles and then issue a closing challenge. MISS MUCHO (4) should appreciate a return to mare’s company after taking on all comers in recent outings, the past two when runner-up to the airborne KANYE CRUSADER. Positioning cheaply is key. DELTA THREE (1) returns from a freshen after finishing out of the money at her past two starts. A winner three back when claiming a mare’s qualifier in leading throughout, she has the options. SELECTIONS: JENDEN STRIKE (10), ROSES ARE SWEET (3), MISS MUCHO (4), DELTA THREE (1) SUGGESTED BET: JENDEN STRIKE (10) to win
RACE FIVE Another high quality 70Final to be contested here where MR MCLAREN (2) should appreciate an improved alley after facing tough gates at his past two. Managing a midfield return from gate 6 last start, it made it successive defeats as an odds-on elect after finishing 2nd from outside the second line in his heat. He has the gate for redemption. BETTERTHANAROCKET (4) eased from gate 7 last time out and sitting quietly until asked to let go. Launching and hitting the afterburners, he arrived down the outside for a smart victory. A winner in similar circumstances three runs back, positioning cheaply off tempo can see him throw it down. OUR ACTION MAN (1) was game in defeat in his qualifying heat after sitting parked from a wide gate at Redcliffe and fighting on for 2nd. A winner on Wednesday night on The Triangle, he has the gate to feature. RED RIGHT HAND (8) was first up since crossing the Tasman when eased from gate 5 in his heat. Making solid ground wide off the track, he can tuck in behind and take the shortcuts to feature. SELECTIONS: MR MCLAREN (2), BETTERTHANAROCKET (4), OUR ACTION MAN (1), RED RIGHT HAND (8) SUGGESTED BET:
RACE SIX With two runs since arriving in Qld, both have proven inconclusive of what HOT AND TREACHEROUS (1) is capable of. 7m first up when parked in open company behind TURN IT UP, he was then beaten the same margin last week when snookered three back on the poles with nowhere to go. This is his chance to put a strut on. AUNTY BELLA (8) was third up from a spell at her first run back in Qld here last week where she faced the outside second line gate. Making solid ground wide off the track to grab 3rd, she maps for the soft trip in behind the speed and with the pegs the best place to be, can look to hold on for 2nd. MAKE MINE MEMPHIS (9) is arguably the most sectionally consistent horse in Qld and here last week claimed his first win of the season in tough fashion when sent to sit parked. He is always in the mix. TARGARYEN (4) landed gate 1 here last week and beaten for early speed at the 2138 start, was then needing a gap as the leader was under pressure. Finding space to squeeze out and grab 3rd, he has podium claims once again. SELECTIONS: HOT AND TREACHEROUS (1), AUNTY BELLA (8), MAKE MINE MEMPHIS (9), TARGARYEN (4) SUGGESTED BET: HOT AND TREACHEROUS (1) to win
RACE SEVEN An interesting clash looms here FUTURE ASSURED (4) resuming from a spell and another big player in MY ULTIMATE BYRON (10) first up for a new barn off a freshen. FUTURE ASSURED grafted out a tough 2nd over 2138 at his last run last campaign behind AWAYWEGO which had followed a feature win over that same trip. Back to the mile, he is up to his first up. CLASSIE WASHINGTON (7) ended his last campaign out of luck and this prep, has been bereft of any luck. Managing a win here four starts back, he has placed at his next three, all with factors against. He is up against it once again from the outside paint but can still mount another challenge. MY ULTIMATE BYRON (10) is first up for Nathan Dawson and arrives with a super record of 11 wins in 23 attempts. Fresh up from a break, he has opened the pipes with a smart trial and looms large. ARGYLE (8) is still chasing his first victory in Qld, his latest effort when just a head shy of the prize after working hard outside the leader. Likely to be buried, he will be probing for openings. SELECTIONS: FUTURE ASSURED (4), CLASSIE WASHINGTON (7), MY ULTIMATE BYRON (10), ARGYLE (8) SUGGESTED BET:
RACE EIGHT CALL ON ME (1) has had two runs for Belinda McCarthy since joining her stable following a spell. Drawn wide in both of those outings, the latest was a tidy 4m margin from gate 6 at Newcastle. With speed out of the machine, she finds the opportunity to take control and see this out. BETTYS LASS (8) was chasing down a hat-trick of victories last start when sent forward early from gate 4 to find the front before taking cover. Best of the chasing bunch behind the big winner RED TRIX, both prior wins came from the second line. If she is in the pocket trail, she will throw it down. MISS DAYTONA (2) was a runner-up here two starts back along the passing lane, finishing just a neck in arrears from the winner. Buried from inside the second line last start, she can keep grafting in this. GIRLS LOVE PEARLS (5) makes her first Qld appearance for the Darrel Graham stable. 5m from the winner at Wagga at her latest outing, she led throughout at Junee three back and stays under watch. SELECTIONS: CALL ON ME (1), BETTYS LASS (8), MISS DAYTONA (2), GIRLS LOVE PEARLS (5) SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 1-2-5-8
RACE NINE A super line up of 3YO pacers to do battle here where WISPER A SECRET (6) can defy the wide gate to continue his winning streak. 3 from 3 since resuming, he sat off the speed here last week before cruising by to take a 3m margin in a new career PB. He has the fitness edge over his main rivals. FOR REAL LIFE (2) came back in January for one run but it all went pear shaped and he was sent straight back to the paddock after failing as the $1.35 fav. A G1 winner of the 2YO Triad two starts back, he looked sharp in a recent trial and from this alley will throw down a big challenge first up. REGAZZO DI TILLY (1) sat in the trail here last week and was out to attempt at reeling them in when finishing 4m from WISPER A SECRET. Another soft trip behind the speed presents here. APOLLO DREAMZ (3) has bene defeated just once in 4 career starts, that coming at his last start when runner-up to FREE THINKER. With a strong trial to open the pipes, he is right in the fight. SELECTIONS: WISPER A SECRET (6), FOR REAL LIFE (2), REGAZZO DI TILLY (1), APOLLO DREAMZ (3) SUGGESTED BET: WISPER A SECRET (6) to win
RACE TEN
Having his first start from behind the tapes here last week, SURF ACE (1) took a few strides to find his gear before the rhythm arrived and he was able to secure the pocket trail. Angled off the inside at the 400, he reached a peak soon after in battling on for 4th. Back to 2138 looks more suitable. SWAGGIE SHANNON (2) is another that should appreciate a return to the middle trip after finishing in the second half of the pack over the longer 13 furlongs last week. Strong to the line here two starts back, he can find a prominent spot and be ready to issue a closing challenge. WARFARE (7) eased from gate 7 here last week and was attacking the line smartly for 2nd behind MAKE MINE MEMPHIS. With a safe start, he is going well enough to feature. MACH DA VINCI (8) was trying to see it out in front last start from the mobile but could not see it out. Making his debut from the tapes, giving away 20 might just be a hurdle too high. SELECTIONS: SURF ACE (1), SWAGGIE SHANNON (2), WARFARE (7), MACH DA VINCI (8) SUGGESTED BET:
RACE ELEVEN
Chasing down a hat-trick of victories at her 4th start in Qld, ADELLE (6) has proven her class with slick wins at her past two attempts. Charging home in a sizzling last half at her latest victory, it was one of the quickest last 800s recorded by a square gaiter at The Creek. Despite the gate the threepeat is on. RED CASTELTON (8) was a winner here three starts back under these same conditions when firing off the arm to see it out on the front end. Tucked in behind from this gate, he will be relying on tempo and pressure which should eventuate. If the gap arrives in time, he can be rattling home. SUAGARINSPICE (4) was tucked away on the poles here last start from the 10m and was never a factor as ADELLE claimed the prize. A return to mobile conditions where she is a slick beginner will aid her chances of arriving. CALL ME TROUBLE (7) has put in some big runs in defeat in his 6 starts on this deck since arriving from NZ. 4m from ADELLE here two back after sitting parked, his manners are proving an issue. SELECTIONS: ADELLE (6), RED CASTELTON (8), SUAGARINSPICE (4), CALL ME TROUBLE (7) SUGGESTED BET: ADELLE (6) to win
